They both incidentally have criminal records. The story is in the NY Post.

tom there is enough updated stories on this incident for you to find out that no, the subway was not crowded at the time, not on that line. There were about 2 dozen to 30 people in the car. The police know how many were on that particular car because the conductor locked everyone in the car until the cops came, as directed by the police.

I've saved myself from criminal violence TWICE because I had a handgun and three times because I had Sabre (capsicum+CS). I didn't have to fire a shot.
