Various goverment and military intelligence and counter intelligence sections track these type of groups. If they find that indeed it is just a bunch of people wanting to play "Army", eat some MREs, and dress up in military uniforms without causing any trouble then no big deal. Those groups that are armed, conduct actual terrorist, criminal, or subversive type action then they would be rolled up and brought in. He should have secured the man if there was a question as to who he was, then if he would have simply checked the man's ID he would have found that he lived there. I think that everyone who has classified themselves as liberal/conservative or left/right wing have done themselves a disservice by buying into media originated groupings. You know the old saying- 'divide and conquer'! My self, I'm simply an American, and whether I am liberal or conservative depends on the issue involved. I'd never buy into any of those groupings as a regular outline of my beliefs or actions. I see little to commend either of them. In fact, I tend to see people who classify themselves in that manner as extremists because then they start excluding or including good/bad things or ideas strictly according to their group-think. In my opinion that is a dangerous road to go down as it may keep you from making/supporting rational decisions. The nation doesn't need political gangs- which is what we and the political parties have degenerated into. I would hope that people examine what they're doing and recognize when propaganda machines are jerking them around. It is time to go back to simply being Americans again and cut those movements off. It is amazing but a fact, people have set prejudices regarding the definition of conservative, liberal etc.... which causes more contention than some of the issues. To say for instance that "conservatives don't like change" is a prejudice. Some people consider themselves "conservatives" based on the example of Ronald Reagan, but Ron reagan was actually quite radical and his actions were anything BUT conservative. The movement sort of hijacked the term to polarize themselves from so called "Liberals".

In the case of reagan then, if you actually remember, he was NOT conservative regarding government because he fundamentaly changed it by slashing entitlement programs and closing down huge portions of the establishment. Those colonists were considered traitors to the Crown. Though from a British family, George Washington, and his contemporaries, were weary of having all of the responsibility but none of the authority to run the business of their lives. We know how the story turned out - it has mostly been a good run. We have had better lives than most of the rest of the world.

That was then, and this is now. Our ancestors managed, by George Washington turning down their request to accept the "king" position, to set up a Republic - with all its merits and faults. It is sad to see this noble entity, America, sullied by the machinations of small home grown terrorists, regardless of their affiliations. They should be monitored closely by Homeland Security when identified, and they should realize they will meet stiff opposition from true patriots if the EVER try to overthrow the U.S. Gov't.

The fine line in the sand for myself and I think a lot of others would be if our government were to take away any of our constitutionally guaranteed rights - freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, etc.

Once someone in government decides one of these basic rights needs to be "ammended" for the good of the people, that should throw up a red flag for every American.

What begins as "The Fairness Doctrine" and "Gun Control" can turn into government control and tyranny real quick.

In my mind it would be best not to even begin to go down that very slippery slope. Once we go down it, I believe it would be next to impossible to back up.

I'm sorry but I can certainly sympathize with the guys in this article. I don't trust the federal government either. I was not a fan of George Bush and I am not a fan of Barack Obama. I keep hoping that people will wake up and realize that their government is out of control, but it doesn't really seem to be happening.

One thing is for certain. The more the federal government tries to take power away from the citizenry and curtail their rights and freedoms...the more of these militias will pop up. It's inevitable.

There is a point in not calling whats-his-name a murderer instead of terrorist and treating him as such. If you treat the scum as a terrorist you give a certain amount of legitimacy to their actions and make them sound vaguely like soldiers fighting for a cause. If you call them murderers instead, and treat them as such, then you disavow them any sort of legitimacy whatsoever. In many muslim minds dying for the cause of allah makes you a martyr. Dying as a criminal for murder is shameful. It makes a difference to them psychologically even if it does sound like BS to us. That is why it is worth the trouble to put the 9-11 a-hole through a court trial instead of through a military tribunal. Deny them any legitimacy whatsoever in the eyes of the world and treat them as the murdering scum that they are. I will say, though, that the media should not be allowed in the court rooms so they can pose and play their propaganda games. They are dedicated to using our court system against us as a propaganda platform to preach their cause. They should nip that right in the bud and not provide any opportunity for it to occur.

when government and corporate are merged so closely it is a sign of fascism, as that is one of the major characteristics of fascism. For a number of years now I have claimed that the US is a fascist state passing itself off as still being a republic, and that is why- not to mention the loss of individual liberty and personal rights. It was really confirmed for me when Bush Jr referred to the US Constitution as 'just another peice of fu/king paper", and then proceeded to act as if it didn't exist. Thank God, in my state (VT) , all police were directed to ignore any new laws passed that did not conform to the Constitution (both national and state) and not enforce them. Living in this state is a blessing. We have a small state and population so many of us know our legislators and we can usually get access to the governor if we want it. Heck, sometimes you can stop them right on the street to talk. The same with our Senators and Congressman. It is quite a bit different than our neighbor state New York and many others where the top politicians get insulated from the people.

You have a good point regarding government and multi national corporations. I think that is key to understanding what is going on here. That our system was hijacked a long time ago and we lost our country then.

I believe the Ft hood masacre was the act of terrorists. It was 13 dead and many wounded. The "militia" resulted in Timothy Mcveigh and Nichols. Many more than 13 were killed and lots were children.

The shooting at Ft. Hood is really the Army's fault. First of all, why is a Muslim an Army psychologist in the first place? This is how desperate our military has become because of the endless wars! Second, he'd been sending emails and talking about the Quran and stuff like that to people for months, and people reported it, yet the Army took no action to remove him! Why is that? Seems incompetent to me. I think Homeland Security better start investigating our military bases! I've read about violence and murders going on at a base in CO, too, though not by muslims.

In response to that posting- how about the right to speedy trial judged by your peers? The news has reported constantly for a couple of years now about Americans being held in places like Gitmo (I may be in error about the location) without being allowed access to a lawyer or being brought into a court to face charges. You can do that to foreigners but not to American citizens. The Constitution has specific clauses dealing with this because King George III was doing the same to American colonists before we revolted against that type of abuse. Look it up yourself.

Then there is the right to privacy. There was a big stink about that within the past few months because our intelligence agencies were illegally spying on Americans when they should have gotten an order from a court designed specially for that purpose. They STILL didn't obey the law even though the court almost never refused their request. They bypassed the court because they knew they had no justification and the court would refuse them. That was the testimony in a Congressional investigation. Look it up yourself.

Then again there are warrantless searches of persons on the street for no good reason. They did nothing suspicious and posed no danger but the searches were being done anyway. A clear violation of the Constitution, which says your persons and papers are private and a warrant is needed to search them. Look it up yourself.

I could say even more but it is up to you to educate yourself if you're an adult and also up to you to pay attention to what goes on in this country and your state. If you can't, don't, or won't then please stop voting until you do so everyone else doesn't get victimized by your ignorance or unwillingness to observe that which you dislike.
