In retrospect, the signs of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's growing anger over the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan seem unmistakable. Still, nobody could predict the murderous rampage of which he is accused.
Some predicted trouble from Fort Hood suspect

I will start by giving my deepest condolenaces go out to all the familes involved in this horrible event.
Now... This is a bunch of bull$hit, the media promotes these evil people into celeberty status. How many pictures of the victims or their familes have you seen published by the media? Not many. Instead they put pictures of this horrible person up, smiling at that.
The media needs to be stopped, they need to go back to school and learn the very basics of proper edicate and morals.
I am so tired of this!
*(*(*
Agreed! Hasan..."was mortified...had a good heart....was lonely...was mistreated...". Never have I heard/read so much condescending, excuse-making BS in an attempt to find logical reasons for a terrorist act!
For people who refuse to acknowledge this loser was acting as a terrorist - whether on his own or with terrorist ties, consider:
As for the soldiers who mocked Hasan - can't say I blame them one iota! Something akin to pyschological abuse and the powers that be should've kicked his ass out long ago...to have these heroes come home from combat and all they've had to endure and then have to sit and talk to some idiot shrink who is obviously blatantly biased in his views...puts Islam before America...talk about putting a bullseye on your back! Just too bad he didn't blow his own brains out and leave it at that!
So....enough with the excuses and stories about this loser! And yes...let's focus on the lives/families of the victims - the people we can and do have sympathy for. My prayers and condolences to all the victims and their families for the healing to begin.
I also offer my deepest condolences to the victims, families...and our entire military, of whom this murderer attempted to take away their ability to feel safe at their home bases. May we all keep them in our prayers.
I am also wondering why this article seems to have been edited from the U.S. News version the was posted yesterday under the heading, "Clear Warning Signs, Hasan's Colleagues Say"...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33753461/ns/us_news-tragedy_at_fort_hood//
This previous version of a nearly identical article contained further information that has now been removed or replaced, such as...
In this updated article, that section now reads, "Dr. Val Finnell, who complained to administrators at a military university about what he considered Hasan's "anti-American" rants." The following quote is also not included in today's version of this article...
Was this MAJOR DR. HASAN also a lay Muslim leader at Fort Hood, or was that request of Hasan's rejected as this person had reportedly recommended? Maybe his patients/other servicemembers objected to his attempts to preach Islam or convert soldiers. I do not understand why US News would leave these quotes from interviews with these associates of Major Hasan, out of today's article?...they seem to offer pertinent facts, and I would hope they were not deliberately removed for anyone's agenda.
Not to mention he took our money to educate himself and then spit on us.
Even the army is involved in this cover up. I think that they knew about him. I do not mean you leftist. That the army knew about these killings. The problems he had. I had problems with someone. He expressed threats against my operations officer. Then he went to EEO. We did not dot our i's and cross our t's. Now he is still in the system. Ready to kill someone. Thanks EEO.
Who are the other Muslim soldiers who are having their doubts about their patriotic priorities? I sure as hell hope someone is checking this out.
The media get more people reading they think by putting all of this on the news.Personally I would rather hear how the wounded are doing. Also the family's that lost members and how are they doing.I don't think anyone would hold it against other Muslims who are doing their job. Now that is said. He should have been put out of the service a long time ago, classmates covering for him is wrong and that is what happened. As for going over to where the fighting is. Big deal he is a psychiatrist and wouldn't be fighting anyone and if he was such a caring person he would be helping our boys over there and in spare time family's over there that are going through a big problem. The man is probably a skits. But just being put out of the service now isn't good enough. He needs to be shot by a firing squad if that is how they do people like that now that kill Innocent people, that never did anything to him. Yes he may have been lonely but if was it was his own fault, another sign of a mental problem, there was a lot of people around that would have enjoyed an intelligent conversation. That is an excuse he is plain a murder and should face that.
Well, to a lot of Christian fundamentalist soldiers this is a war on Islam. There are a ton of ignorant Christian fundamentalists in the army, should it come to anyone's surprise that there might be a couple of Muslim ones as well?
Also, there is no such thing as anti-American. American is to say what you want, think what you want. This warped idea of anti - anything is one that only exists here, and in dictatorships.
It is a false understanding of what it means to be American, just go with the program, don't think for yourself, do what we tell you, otherwise you're anti-American. What a load of crap..
jp,
I agree with the jest of your argument, and alot of the arguments about his "Un-American" views are a bit warped. That being said, we should be monitoring the ideologies of those we are sending to fight. If someone is against the wars to the extent that they do not want to go, what good are they going to be as soldiers. Those individuals should be discharged.
"His fellow students complained to the faculty about Hassan's anti-American propaganda but a fear of appearing discriminatory against a Muslim student kept officers from filing a formal complaint."
Associated Press
In the end, it will be this insanity of "political correctness" that will lead this country to ruin. Who needs terrorists? We will destroy ourselves.
Personally, I hope that the accused lives. The reason for this is that he can then be tried by a general court martial under article 118 of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice).
See; http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/mcm/bl118.htm
Since his current rank is that of a Major, there will be no one of lower rank on the panel, and if found guilty, can be sentenced to death or other punishment as deemed appropriate by the impaneled court.....The minimum possible sentence is life with the possibility of parole, although I doubt seriously that in this case with at least thirteen counts of premeditated murder that the court will decide on a life sentence.
If he dies, he'll go down as "a wacko" that slipped through the cracks......If he faces a court martial, he will be stripped of all rank, forfeit all accrued pay and allowances, and be given a dishonorable discharge in addition to the sentence handed down.
He will die in disgrace, as he should.
P.S. From what I've seen in my seventy years, most individuals in the "skull thumping" professions have at least a few screws loose........
First off I send all my Love and Best wishes to the families of this terrorist attack.. I solute all of you brave women and men of our armed forces!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the Article:
It didn't take long for the news or for someone to use this sad story and event as a religious propaganda tool though... If that isn't sick I don't know what is...
I would agree that this was a terrorist attack... It's on the same playing field as the prick that killed his daughter for becoming to self dependent..err American... These people need to be put down like wild dogs that have rabies... I also agree that he should be stripped of his rank..
This mans mother is probably just as dangerous as he is.. I would also suggest deportation of the remaining family..
I just realized that more than one article points to this discussion... The one I am replying to is this article:
Fort hood rampage brings prayers. questions
The headline didn't bother me as much as the content of the article..
How is that? These things happen. It's the price we pay to live in the society we live in. It has nothing to do with political correctness, and I'm willing to bet that a society lacking in such dignities would cause more stress to people like this guy. As if PC causes these things to happen. Lots of people here like to toss around their epithets, but that's not how civilized society works, PC or not.
Christianity isn't any better Freedom... Many religions have radicals... The bible it's self basically states by example that it's ok to kill your children so long as you are sorry for ever creating them... Read Genesis.. A genocidal God that makes excuses to destroy every living substance on Earth... And yet that very GOD forgets you can't do that and expect those on the Ark to survive without an ecosystem...
Religion is a Sham and so is the Concept of a GOD that had created everything... God does not explain existence.. GOD did not create existence for it's self requires it in order to exist.. And you can not pre-exist existence in order to create it.. Hell, non-existence can not exist as a person place or thing... It's impossible since it's self sates it does not exist..
A God needs things other than it's self in order to exist... Existence, information, intelligence, and the information that gives him a self awareness.. Hence, a GOD would be in need of and not the creator of Existence or information... If he it not know who he is and where he is and what he is..Then he is nothing at all... Vital pieces of information that make up a self identity...So a God does not equal a set of all sets... It is dependent on something else other than it's self to exist... To be it's own identity apart from us or anything else it can not have created existence... Sorry..
Neither science nor religion can explain existence... Existence simply exists because non-existence is impossible... Whether that be a person, place, or thing...
So as the paradox states.. If existence could destroy it's self can non-existence exist? And if non-existence exists then is not a place of existence? Non-existence can not be of it's self... Only existence can... Existence can not be created or destroyed.. Nor can Existence it's self have a self awareness because everything in existence is not self aware... Only things inside it can form a self awareness.. So if God committed suicide would existence become non-existence? Simple answer is no ;) Non-existence can not be a form of existence ;) It can only be a descriptive word to describe what once was is no longer what it once was and is now of something else or now apart of something else...
You can cut a tree down and say it no longer exists.. However, in literal terms that is false... The tree still exists in another form.. If you cut a tree down and make it into fire wood and then burn it...doe it not become ash and smoke? Everything gets recycled and does not go into actual non-existence... Even a unicorn exists as a thought, idea, or piece of media or art.. It's information one way or another regardless if it's fictional or not... Same goes for your self awareness.. There is no guarantee that will transcend or remain in tact vs fade, disperse, or even become another form of energy or combine with other forms of energy that may or may not become something else or apart of something else..
Simple way to describe death is when someone gets knocked out cold.. They can only ever describe the experience as lights off and lights on with not concept of what has transpired between those times.. They can only quantify it because the brain regains consciousness... And sometimes the damage is severe enough where they might not remember who they are and may even see themselves differently..
And all self awareness is, is the collection of information... Everything you know about your self is mere pieces of information. And you can only understand it as such or describe it as such. When you lose those pieces you become someone else or nothing at all... Amnesia or severe head trauma can cause a person to develop another personality or Identity.. Even severe abuse can create multiple personalities and Identities...
People only believe in GOD or light after death because they fear the darkness of death.. It's purely a fear motivated ideology and they really don't care if it's true or not.. Anything to comfort their fears will gain devotion to an ideology that claims to know all the answers that it clearly does not have answers to.. It ignores it's own flaws...
These terrorists are just as bad as any religious nut case that interprets their religion as a license to kill... And again all you need to realize in the Bible is the examples of hypocrisy to understand why people do the things they do in the name of their religion... 300 years of burning wasn't some accident.. The killing of ones own children and family to save them from the devil is no different.. Once you go off the deep end of the pool with no means to keep your head above water it's all over with...
Religion is nothing but a man made ideological construct that pretends to know a God's supposed will.. It doesn't even have anything to do with believing in a GOD or GOD's... You don't even need religion to believe a God exists... Religions are used for power and control through fear and devotion.. The most powerful brain washing tools on the planet... Whether or not you choose to follow the ideology is up to you.. If it keeps you sane and happy without wanting to go out and cut someone else's life down great.. But if it's making you act out in violence or in hate then maybe it's not such a great thing for you...
The shooter was upset for the deployment. The chance that he'll be killed will be very small because he, as a doctor, will stay inside the safe zone helping soldiers and he'll not go out fighting enemies directly. He knows that fact clearly. He's not upset about possibility of being killed. He's upset because he does not want to side with Americans and to fight against his Muslim brothers so that he'll go to the hell according to his Islamic believes. He decided to strike. That meant to kill as many American soldiers as possible to get release to the heaven. He prepared to die. He prepared and executed his plan. It’s sad. It is a domestic terrorist attack. There is no guaranty that there will be no more Muslims who decide to strike in the future. We should learn the lesson.
right now terrorism is a perfect example of what happens when religious nut cases become a problem.. Just like the 300 years of burning... If you haven't noticed that if there were no drugs/gangs or religion in this world the world would be far more peaceful... Makes you wonder why a GOD didn't just make men incapable of sin, hatred or violence... But I guess that would have made too much logical sense... ;)
Jack-819162- he also attended the same mosque that two 911 terrorists attended... And as a Doctor, he would have been not only treating Americans but Muslims too.. He would have been saving lives and not taking them.... No my friend that assessment doesn't make sense... It's more likely that this was planned for a very long time... Whether it was religious based or not can be questionable... But I would imagine his faith played a huge role in it...
I am truly surprised that the know one is condeming the praying that is going on. That not the PC America we are. We all know there is someone out there like the ACLU that will be defending this guy and blaming either GWB or the Army for not protecting this Major.
what I thought was stupid is how the media claimed he was being harast. As a SSGT who in there right mind would haras an officer? Onther Major perhaps. But if you are a Major or a LTC you are most likely a careeer officer and would not dare. As for an enlisted soldier harasing a superior. It just doesnt happen. well not to their faces. we have all had officers that we didnt like but no NCO would go face to face with a Major. That's the quickest way to an Article 15 and bad Ju-ju!
1screaminEagle
I don't have a problem with people praying or practicing their religion is peace.. I do protest when the Media uses it as propaganda or when religious use such stories as this as propaganda.. It's pure exploitation... That is just as pathetic and disgusting as the violent act it's self... To use someone's death to further your own skewed and equally crazy agenda..
And this only applies to those that do this... Not to those here wishing the families well and hope... But those that come here to spread their ideology.. And this article does just that... It makes me sick to even read it..
Agreed, as stated in the headline, nobody could predict murderous rampage. Murderous rampage occurs only after something has snapped.
Yet, prior to snapping, warning signs become unmistakable as a predictable script plays itself out. Very deep feelings are shared, overlooked, misaddressed which always leads to a moral conundrum. As pressures mount and the sense of hopelessness builds to an intolerable crescendo, as they did in this case, the only options left are to break out or break down.
There is no justification for this act. None. But, there is a reason.
One of the primary factors that lends continual sorrow to our world was once again demonstrated. We too often fail to listen to one another. My sympathies go out to all of us. We victimize ourselves in our deafness. The time has come, as it will again, to listen up.
My guess is that his superiors had their hands tied and couldn't do anything about this man because he WAS a muslim. Our government has gotten all soft and feely about anything that has to do with minorities. Our brave men and women are fighting a WAR and anything that could be detrimental to them should be dealt with for their benefit and not that of one other soilder. This man only became "uncomfortable" with our military after he got his free medical degree.
mcds I fully agree with what you said. Our system has failed us and now we have people killed and wounded because of this. Our military should feel safe at home especially on a Army base they are going thru enough turmoil in their lives. This country has more sympathy for the muslims then for our own people, enough is enough. Round up all these dissents and send them back.
If Hasan had been a private, instead of an officer, he would have been tagged and kicked out of the army long ago. That is not to say he would not have still performed an atrocious act.
His sole reason was his fanatical attachment to Islam.
Yes we do need to lesson to people and well as see physical signs in body language. He could have gotten out of the service at any time by requesting it and saying why. The military wouldn't want him in. This has been going on for years though, he got his schooling through the Military. He spoke out in college, They should have a mental test before putting them in the service. My father was a navy man and did his part he had 5 brothers that did. My two son's did and my daughter. none of them believed in killing, It was their country and they were taught you should defend it and anyone that wanted to be free. This man was a mental case, but his class mates that protected him were wrong. he needed out a long time ago. It isn't the other Muslims fault that he did this there are good ones in this country and in their own country. If he was truly caring no matter what pressure he was under he wouldn't of just went in and killed Innocent people. Maybe the ones he thought were making him go but he had a choice he could of taken a discharge. The long and short of it was he was mental, and no one saw it and ones that saw the problem protected him and why.
Yup, a terrorist in disguise. Beware...be aware America....they are on our turf. Y'all still wanna close up GITMO?
This wasn't a terrorist act, it was a criminal one. And this guy was no more fundamentalist than the thousands of Christian fundamentalists that are also members of the armed services. Their beliefs are no more wacko than those of the guy that did the shooting. If they were living in a Muslim country, serving in their Army, they might come to the same idiotic conclusions. Organized religion is poison, and it's not just Islam.
Bollocks! What a load of horse manure!
This is a terrorist act by the enemy within. To call it anything else is the lie of political correctness. WAKE UP AMERICA!
The fact of the matter is the man was flat crazy. 'He was the quiet type" "Pleasant but kept to himself". "Didn't fit in" "Required extra supervision". These descriptions fit most serial killers and those who just go nuts. Unfortunately for the good Muslims of the world this crazy's religion is casting an even more disparate light on Islamic fanatics. Alternately, Islamic revolutionaries need to be deported or charged with treason. We have every right to worship who and what we choose but none of us has the right to threaten America/Americans and remain free. Those who wish us harm or side with our enemies do not belong in this country, never mind being trained and armed to kill.
It is so true. I guess we really have to watch out for those "nice guys". You always seem to hear about them commiting crimes, LOL.
His being a psychiatrist is what scares me the most. How many soldiers' minds did he mess up?
When you say "our military," does that only mean our white christian military? Because that's what it sounds like you're saying. The muslims ARE our own people. If YOU can't accept that we have a diverse population, maybe YOU should leave.
All these dissents? Doesn't that just mean everyone that disagrees with you?
The question is where to draw the line. If someone is actually trying to mobilize against us, yeah. But should be not be allowed to make speeches against the government? The teabaggers would not like that one bit, especially the ones that like to show up armed. If I say "let's overthrow the government," is that then treason?
Hi,
@Dude,
"The muslims ARE our own people. If YOU can't accept that we have a diverse population, maybe YOU should leave."
First the muslims will never be our own people, if they practice islam this is against their religious laws.
Yes we do live in a diverse society, and the sad truth is that this will be the downfall of our society.
Different nationalities of people are comming into our country and instead of accepting our ways of life, they are trying to bring in their third world country ideas. This is really stupid since they were trying to better their life by comming to America. Some of these third world idea's like selling drugs, protecting their turf and forming gangs will actually really start to hurt America in the future. Why we even leave muslim or islamic people in the United States is beyond me. We really can't tell the good from the bad, and since their mass murderers don't wear uniforms or just strike out at our military the American people will just have to live in a quiet fear that they to can be victims.
This was an attack at a military base by a person that believed in muslim / islamic principles.
"Yup, a terrorist in disguise. Beware...be aware America....they are on our turf. Y'all still wanna close up GITMO?"
We are on their turf from from Algeria to Indonesia.
Smerf - Hahahahaha! You are ludicrous.
Minorities are destroying America, huh? Just like the Irish, the Polish, and the Slovaks, huh? Or only the brown ones? That seems to be more your way.
We can't tell the good from the bad? The same is true of white people...who, by the way, shoot places up all the time.
Again. Many American people are muslims. People that were born here, go back generations, speak without any accent, etc. You are not allowed to take the easy way out and be racist because some people who look different from you do some bad things (especially while ignoring the people that look like you doing bad things). This is America. And it's great. You'll just have to accept it for what it is.
samstriano, correct; the media loves sensationalism, facts, news, examination of the event, are not in their agenda.
Motive for shooting, is the media blind, stupid, and crazy; The shooter is a home grown Muslim fanatic, he was out to kill American soildiers, because he didn't want them to fight his Muslim brothers, and he praised God while he was killing unarmed soldiers.
There is a word for this "TREASON".
not only soldiers, but civilian workers who had nothing to do with the army. He didn't care who he shot. This was suppose to be a caring person, lol
mcds - Is it treason because of who was killed? Does that make sense? What if he shot up a cafe instead...would that be "treason" too?
Sounds like murder to me. No more treason than Columbine.
It was TREASON! He was American born. If he was foreign born and a planted enemy agent, then what he is, would STILL be a saboteur and assassin and probable spy. BUT, He was born in America, and swore an oath of allegiance to America. He IS, in addition to everything else, a TRAITOR to his country.
mork - you answered one of my questions. What do you think about the other two?
Hasan Chop...Ya'saw it, Ya'didnt do anything about it, Makes you just a guilty as he was...Muslims in the U.S. Military who refuse to fight? Might as well mix nitro with rocks and ship it Fed-X
Ya got it. C.A.
His military superiors are going to have to answer for why they failed to deal with him before this horrific event. That they let pc govern their lack of action is clear.
It is too bad that he wasn't taken out like he did to the innocent soldiers that he murdered. What a piece of crap, I hope the sorry SOB burns in hell, maybe someone could take him out so that can happen sooner then later.
Joan
I believe this guy will burn in hell. The Army let too many things get by on this deal.
Mostly because it would not be politically correct to do otherwise. So everyone sat on their hands and hoped. So typical...........................locking the barn door after the horse has gone.
Won't he be surprised, when it's only 72 pure white grapes? but he didn't die, so he don't qualify.
Hey, uh...logistical question...if hell is eternal, does it matter when he gets there?
It is GOOD that he lived. Let him tell us that what he did was right. Let him tell us what he REALLY believed, all the time that he lied and said that he was loyal. Let us learn, that a lie is a lie. If your enemy lies to you to your face, ten thousand times, it DOES NOT become truer with repetition, IT IS STILL A LIE!
God Bless all those families who lost a loved one and I pray for all those at Frt Hood that are dealing with this....Why is the media so focused on this murdering dog...why are they trying to make him out to be some kind of abused lonely good hearted soul? Why are they making excuse after excuse for this hanous act? Could it be that they do not want this to reflect onto their liberal marxist chief in the white house? after all they woun't want to admit that their was a terrorist act carried out on American soil under the great almighty BO......or even worse..find out that it was BO who empowerd this guy to do this by his terrorist coddling policies.
And what is BO gonna do about this...NOTHING except try and cover up the real facts....that this guy was bent on killing Infidels...thats it...any one with 1/2 a brain can see that...he was not crazy..he was very deliberate..had all this planned out and he knew exactly what he was doing, he was very calm during the shooting and he had no remorse at all.......I hope he goes before a firing squad and that they broadcast it all around the world...that should pi$$ off all the pigs in the Taliban and Al'quida......
Look up members of the 'transistional team' for BO.
You'll find a pdf file.....that's very interesting.
Maybe it has something to do with how many of his patients committed suicide.
What does this have to do with Obama? Don't use the deaths of these soldiers to justify your crazy conspiracy theories.
And why would the Taliban and Al Queda be pissed at that? They love martyrs.
As Ayatollah Khomeini himself put it: "Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled or incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world. . . . But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world." AND "Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers]? Islam says: Kill them, put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]…. Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to Paradise, which can be opened only for the Holy Warriors!" Let's have a good Muslim refute this venom.
If you think Khomeini represents most Muslim thought, than you probably think Dick Cheney represents most Americans.
Dubai, Dick Cheney may be bad, but he ain't muslim. and yes, I think Khomeini represents most muslim thought, though they may not be so blatant about it. Why else would the good muslim people of Iran embrace him so thoroughly even when he managed to kill a million or so of them?
They supported Khomeini very strongly during the revolution. This was well before the Iran-Iraq war that killed so many on both sides.
He had strong support because he was toppling the Shah... a dictator installed by the US after the US overthrew Iranian democracy in 1953.
Khomeini and the mullahs have little support in Iran today... but they hate the US more than their own government as they see the 1953 coup as the catalyst to all the problems they have today. Rightly or wrongly, that is the view point from the Iranians I have met here and in Iran.
So Iranians blame all their problems on the coup in 1953 abetted by the U.S. which installed the Shah. The 1979 revolution (which the U.S. had nothing to do with) brought them Khomeini whom they loved. Now they are not so happy with their current government, so they hate the U.S. even more. Most Iranians were not even born in 1953, but are indoctrinated into hating the Great Satan (and the Little Satan) for all of their problems. When do they start taking some responsibility for their current situation? Their policies are opposed not only by the U.S. but all of Europe and virtually all of the Middle East.
I am not an expert in religion but I'm sure that every religion teaches good lesson, not to attack other people, other beliefs.
We can only defend our rights, honorary and self esteem. It means if we are assailed by others, whether or not in same religion, we may defend ours.
mahmudi,
you are absolutely right.
BUT, the point is, he CHOSE TO *NOT* DEFEND HIS COUNTRY!
INSTEAD, he CHOSE his religion.
He may be a hero to Muslims, BUT he is a TRAITOR to his country.
How is it possible that this absolute traitor had been allowed to continue in the U.S. military?
He should have been"punted" long ago.
TomCat: Guess that you missed my earlier quote from the article. Read the article again. Hint: political correctness.
And you can bet your sweet Bippy that this entire mess will be swept under the rug "for our own good." We need to be able to PUBLICLY follow how this thing plays out, not just a need-to-know basis. We all NEED TO KNOW.
Signed,
One Disgusted American
Hey Optomyst, you are so right about everything you have posted. Yesterday and today!
Thanks2taps..........I am just so pissed off. I don't often get like this. I am frightened for my children and my granchildren and the horros they will have to face financially, spiritually and morally.
Haha, getting miffed at your own ridiculous prediction? The news will stop covering it because it'll stop selling well, and if you care enough to follow it to the end, you can.
Dude.........I don't think the bleeding heart Liberals will allow that. It will be called the failure of our system to attend to this man's needs. Just wait and see.
Well of course you don't, but that's just a ridiculous prediction. You should stop demonizing liberals just because you disagree with them. Liberal or conservative, that would spell political doom.
Why should I stop demonizing them. They have failed us at every turn in the road. They are incompetent, self-serving, greedy, uncaring indivudual in our government. What have they done for us? Besides feel free to spend our money as THEY see fit.
They represent more than half of the country. They are not there to cater specifically to you. They have not failed. They are trying to remedy some huge problems that were handed to them. Everything you just said is applicable to the conservative gov't we had before.
Have you seen any tax increase?
Oh, you mean the money to pay for Clunkers, the money to pay for bailing out inept corporations run by greedy executives, the money used to create jobs that never materialized (in spite of what Obama says). And our government is not "More than half of the country."
In case you haven't noticed, Obama and his crew is spending money: 1. That we dont have. 2. That isn't theirs.
It is the Liberals who feel that the government is here specifically to cater to them. All the self-serving do-nothing people who would sit on their hands and wait for the government to feed the, clothe them, save them from disaster, educate them, medicate them. A group of non-thinking people who constantly cry "Woe is me" and "I deserve more than this."
It is that type of thinking that has gotten us into this mess. Spend what you don't have (because you deserve it). "Every American should own a home" (because you deserve it). Every American should have at least two cars (because you deserve it).
Every American should work hard to have what they deserve? Naw! That's too conservative. We can't do that. It will take too long.
It saddens me to read such hate coming out the the mouths of people. In a country where everyone is equal, religion should be left out of the conversation.
Wow! All I see here is anger. No wonder people suffer.
Excuse me. Anger and fear.
There is an old proverb that says they swallowed the whole hand when they were offered a finger (not the bad way). This is exactly what they have given to this country in return for its tolerance.
::eyeroll::
Tolerance of what? Other religions? That's what made this country. That's not what caused this.
The claim is no one could predict this guys actions, give me a break, muslims deal with all of their issues by violence, rape of women, sharia law, they are a violent people and religon, time for all of us to wake up to the reality that is staring us in the face. Muslims cannot serve in our military just by the fact they are muslims.
Thats a little skewed. Some have served and died with honor. However, those with misgivings about fighting other muslims should be out ,out, out!
It says in the Q'ran that those who do not believe in Allah are not worthy and have no value (to that point). So basically if you're a "good" Muslim, Christians are not only lower than your sole scrapings but if you kill one there is no need for any moral distress so I'd question why we'd be enlisting people who think that the majority of Americans- Christians- are evil and can be killed without spiritual consequence and in fact perhaps with an eternal reward. I think it silly to not at least examine possible repercussions of allowing practicing Muslims in our military at this time. Last week an Afghan cop killed five British soldiers. We/They trained him, armed him and he lay like a snake in the grass waiting for the right moment to strike. In the case of the Major I personally feel like he was a ticking timebomb with Islam having nothing much to do with it, but in my mind I don't see why we WOULD train and arm those who worship Allah in the same manner I question wny someone who was clearly mentally unstable would be paid, housed, fed and armed? Don't keep crazies and especially don't keep those who question their loyalties to America first.
The military is a function of Government. I for one an thankful for the Separation of Church and State. The Military needs to rethink it's PC attitude that requires pussyfooting around people's beliefs. Considering them is nice but not taking action because of them is ridiculous.
McVeigh was in the military, too.
Obama says "Now, let's not jump to conclusions..." I would expect that from someone who refuses to even call a terrorist a terrorist. His Department of Homeland Security calls terrorist acts - "man-caused disasters". They absolutely believe that we are NOT at war with radical muslims.
Ok, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, let's not jump to conclusions, but:
The shooter had given away all his possessions to his neighbors in the days leading up to the massacre.
The shooter had said that 'Suicide bombers are to be honored, just as a soldier who throws himself on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers should be honored'
The shooter had visited his religious leaders over the last several weeks and evey THEY were concerned about how radical he had become.
The shooter had posted numerous postings on terrorist web-sites which were extremely anti-American. He said it was 'immoral for a soldier to fight a fellow muslim'.
The shooter carried 2 pistols into a building where he KNEW the soldiers would be unarmed.
The shooter jumps up on to the table and yells "allah akbar - God is great" or whatever the crap it is that they yell to their phony god before he starts shooting.
All this media and presidential posturing so as to not upset the 'peace-loving muslims' makes me want to puke. Then enemy (radical muslims) have entered the door, they are among us, and they are waiting to strike, just as this idiot did. All of our political correctness will have us living like Israel. First, it's 9/11, attacked from without. Then, it's the military, attacked from within. Soon, we'll see suicide bombers at Starbucks, McDonalds (kids birthday parties), etc.
We not only welcome them into the United States, we allow them to stay even when they make terrorist threats against Americans and praise fellow muslims as they kill Americans.
Consider this nutjob:
NEW YORK — A New York City bicycle cabbie who mocked the murder of American journalist Daniel Pearl and posted a prayer on the Web calling for the murder of Jews is now sending a "Get Well Soon" message to the suspected Fort Hood gunman, the New York Post reported.
Yousef al-Khattab, 41, a radical Muslim in the borough of Queens who runs RevolutionMuslim.com, claims on the site that the soldiers massacred at the Texas base deserved to be massacred, and he insists the victims are in "eternal hellfire." As for the suspected gunman — Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan — Al-Khattab hails him as a hero. He has also publishes several articles on the Internet saying that "All Jews must die along with all the other infidels".
Why is this guy still in the United States. Where is Barack Hussein Obama? Where is our Department of (worthless) Homeland Security? I guess when THIS GUY finally blows up Starbucks, MSNBC and others will be talking about how 'troubled' he was and how 'lonely' he was and how he just finally snapped!!!
The Muslims have the right to free speech and we do not. We need to clean up this country, quickly, before more trouble rears its ugly head.
Obama will do nothing, except perhaps apologize for the terrible life this killer has had. You watch.
Totally agree! If you are a government employee, including the military, you are more than a little leery to speak out against anyone for most any reason. If you disagree, you are not a government employee and you are wrong. So most people tend to look the other way. This is not an isolated incident, do your homework. This is a cultural and religious battle pointing to the same common denominator amongst Muslims. Stop trying to psychoanalyze who the good guys and the bad guys are. It will NEVER happen!! Muslims want to kill us. Get that through you thick heads. All the touchy-feely liberal BS is going to get us killed. Why are our sheepherding statesmen and their flocks pandering to these people? Can someone honestly explain that to me? Maybe they'll see the light when it's THEIR family that, God forbid, get's evaported into a red mist by some Muslim SOB in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Do we have to wait for that to happen first??!! Amazing...absolutely amazing!
I can explain it. The same way we don't eradicate idiotic evangelistical crazy right wing repressive Baptists and allow Scientologists to take the money of and money and refuse treatment to mentally ill people against their will. Freedom has it's costs. This is one of them.
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Tell me, which groups do you belong to? Replace any of the groups mentioned above with your own and I hope it scares you to think that way...
I have never seen a right wing baptist shout god is great and then start killing people. Wake up America. There is a lot (millions) of good people envolved in the muslim religion and it is still an evil religion.
God Bless the U.S.A.
god bless the WHOLE world. Period.
exhausted we have had one of the most tragic events ever happen from religious nuts from here in the USA. Do you rememeber jim jones? Religion is the problem it causes hate and is for silly simple minded people who are easily brainwashed into doing stupid stuff . There is no god don't you think he would have done something before he killed 900 people including children. Grow up.

PJandB - right on. Freedom is freedom. If you compromise it, you lose it.
Jimbo - That's something we don't hear nearly enough. Thank you.

Well said. We need more voices like yours, that point out the evil that is among us without all the ignorant redneck racism and name calling.
Here is a good documentary that ISN'T from Fox News:

Again, ...the ARMY MISSED THE ENVITABLE... disgruntled and harrassed soldier goes rogue...who could NOT have seen THAT coming when he hires a military atty to have the harrassment stopped...where was his commanding officers head? HE MISSED THE CLUES??? Com..on...no small wonder ...again... the military is completely stressed out and wrong decisions are made everyday...just get the boots on the ground is their motto...this kind of tragedy will never end as long as the ARMED FORCES CONTINUE TO MISS THE S I G N S !!!!!!!
What brought us to this position. Sooner or later more soldiers wll realize that we are in WW3 brought up on us by Israel. In unconditional support of Israel has turned the Islam nations against us. A war we will not be able to win. Israel has brought damage to our armed forces and economy and thanked us by attacting the Libery in 1967 and killing 86 American sailors. We must treat the Israel lobby in Washington as enemy agents.
Brought on by Israel? The Muslims have hated the Infidel since the beginning of time and their sole purpose in life is to destroy us.
Again, someone who refuses to accept the truth and will always find someone else to blame.
" If Israel were not in the middle east, the arab nations would have gas at 10 bucks a gallon and crush us financially... "
I have heard a lot of reasons, mostly lame ones, for Israel to exist but this one tops the list .. heh heh heh.
Wall Street is the reason that gas and every other commodity is so high ... the Jews run our Federal Reserve System and they are killing us financially. Have you checked your 401K lately ... and the dollar is going the way of the do-do bird in short order.
Jews and Arabs both are semites ... well at least the Middle eastern Jews are .. the ashkanazis who run the government of Israel are from Russia and Poland mainly and they are not semites.
the religion of both of these people is full of death and destruction for all non-believers. Just because Israel hasn't been killing americans lately is because we provide almost all of their millitary and economic wealth for them ... but the moment we go neutral between the Arabs and Israel, or force them to recognize a Palestinian State, then you will see the Jews killing Americans. Israelis learned not to bite the hand that feeds them is why they seem our ally now, but don't forget a moment that these people bombed the Brits out of Palestine just 60 years ago.
Mohammed didn't make up Islam and declare the moon god Allah to be the only god until around the 7th century but the Arabs and Israel have not been very friendly since Sarah ran Hagar and Ishmael off.
Ahh, wrong. The Muslims have been fighting the Christians and the Jews since 600 AD! Most of the Middle East was Christian or Jewish before Muhammad and his Muslim armies conquered it in the 7th century. In the 13th century, the Christians came back to re-take the holy land. This was called the Crusades.
Try reading a book sometime. And no, I don't mean the skinhead newsletter you've been reading in the outhouse.
i take harrassment from people a lot and i am a white born in america ,christian. country boy. that does not in any way give me the right to start murdering people nor do i want to. its called life in a broken world. Jesus is the answer.
He wanted out, no one would let him out - because he owed the military for his education. He hired a lawyer, he offered to pay the military back, but no, he probably was pretty upset about having to stay in. Shouldn't someone have looked into his discontent? Don't we have a volunteer Army, Air Force, etc.? Don't we want people fighting for us who WANT to fight for us? This is another case, becoming so common now, that the signs were there and no one did anything about it. Very tragic.
boo hoo ,that does not justify murder.
Ruth...
Or maybe...his approaching deployment helped him solidify the time frame for his planned mass murder of unarmed soldiers on US soil... who were lined up for treatment before deploying to combat in an Islamic country. He couldn't very well pull off this type of murderous carnage when his soldier victims are deployed in combat, and thus also armed with weapons enabling them to defend themselves. I am really tired of people attempting to find excuses for this horrendous betrayal perpetrated against our soldiers... the ones who were entrusted to this psychiatrist's care...the officer/doctor who was supposed to assist them through trauma, suffering and panic situations. He used his education in the treatment of post traumatic stress to cause what he had promised to heal. He could have gone AWOL, or checked into a psych treatment center. This man did not snap...he plotted, planned, deceived...and when the time was right, he murdered in cold blood. People, please stop trying to blame the victims (our military...and our country) for this suffering. That is not to say that steps may have been possible to have identified and removed this officer before he executed our troops by his own hand, but rather that the decision to kill and maim was made by this person alone, and if he had been removed from service earlier...maybe his murderous carnage would have been enacted at that time. We do not know. Then would you all be saying...why did they remove this officer and cause him to stress out...was it because he was Muslim and our military discriminated against him? We can always search for someone to blame if want to cloud the issue...but that will not help prevent this type of act from being repeated. If tragedies such as this are not looked at for what they are, and the motivations truthfully identified, we will not move towards the necessary changes to prevent future such acts. We need to put our energies into supporting all those who have and will be suffering from this cowardly act, and stop giving this murderer or his family members...or anyone else a venue to attempt to cast blame elsewhere.
Sorry if it sounded like an excuse. Nothing excuses what he did. The error here is that nobody evaluated the psychiatrist after all his rantings that sound so anti-American. Did you guys even read what I wrote? I certainly didn't say his rampage was justified. How did you get that out of my message? And yes, his impending deployment scared him to death. However, it was other people's deaths and not his own. Too bad.
Ruth...
Sorry if I misinterpretted your message...the above statements sounded like looking for others to blame for psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's horrendous act of mass murder.
The first part that you quote is fact. It's been said often in all the media coverage. He was upset about having to stay in and he was upset about being deployed. "those who know" say we shouldn't speculate or make conclusions before we know the truth, but these facts seem like pretty strong reasons for his discontent ----- that many knew about but no one did anything. In any case, it's just horrible and he needs to be punished. Since he didn't die, we get to punish him and he gets no virgins.
I'm done now...
This is a terrible tragedy. Condolences to all the families.
The President will do all he can. However, the real blame for this tragedy lies with former President George W. Bush. I expect he does not sleep very well at night.
Just out of curiosity, how long are you going to blame G.W. Bush for everything?
Spring chicken shut the pluck up!
Are you kidding me. That evil narcissistic SOB sleeps just fine.
I don't totally agree with you that this is all his fault though. He may have sped things up a bit, but this was going to happen no matter what we did. Muslims have been planning this for hundreds of years.
What is important here? We have a man who apparently had a good heart who finally ended up doing a dispicable deed. It would be interesting to know how he got here. I really hope that the investigators look into what happened here. Here is a man who worked in a psych unit and yet no one apparently was aware of how disturbed he was. Dr. Val Finnell apparently was aware of Nidal Hasan's views and yet his solution to the problem was "He"He at least should have been confronted about these beliefs, told to cease and desist, and to shape up or ship out." at least should have been confronted about these beliefs, told to cease and desist, and to shape up or ship out." Somehow that seems like an unhelpful strategy.
It sounds like Nidal Hasan should not have been in the position he was in. If his supervisors were aware of his anti-war views they also should have been aware of what this kind of disonence might be doing to this man. When Hasan asked to leave the military they should have let him go.
I am not defending what Nidal Hasan did but it seems to me that this tragedy might have been averted his concerns had been taken into account and an effort had been made to understand what was going on here.
I have additional questions about this incident. For instance, how the heck, in a room of people trained for combat, how was this man able to squeeze off 41 or more rounds of amunition. Holy cow how many bullets did this guy have in one of those guns? Wouldn't that be a rather large gun? Why didn't anyone notice he was carrying two guns and ask him why? I find this incident quite puzzling. Doesn't anyone else?
Your concerns are understandable. But as all these comments have been saying ,and I am sorry, but shape up or ship out is correct. The military is not a free ride, though some have used it that way, free education ..... He knew what he was doing when he signed up and got the education and swore an oath to the defense of this country. But the military and the so called Home Land Security should have been all over this. He had expressed his strong views of fighting against his own. He should have been kicked out and made to pay. He was making comments all the time about it being wrong for the U.S. to be in Iraq.! Wheather it is wrong or right, the problem is ,he was for the other side. In the past their have been plenty of nationalities that have been in the military and had to fight their own,but they were for the side they were fighting for. His convictions not only bothered him, they convinced him to kill the military people he was suppose to be defending. This is not just a case of someone going nuts, though some goverment people would like us to think so because it would excuse them from such terrible error. This is a case of someone being bothered so much ,concerning his convictions ,he then acted on them. I am hearing from some young men in Iraq right now that are so angry that a Muslim with such strong beliefs was allowed to continue and it came to this. As to your question about the gun, well it is a military base. I lived there in that area for thirty years, and worked in that hospital for awhile. I t is nothing for some to walk around with or without weapons,it is a base.
this persons heart was sick and rotted. he wants his virgins in heaven so he will kill inocent people. there is a special place in hell for this guy.
Oh My,
His victims were unarmed...as an Officer at Fort Hood, he knew that. Reportedly he used two pistols...easily brought in unseen. As a Major, maybe even if he was seen with a weapon this would not have been questioned...I do not know. One of the pistols was reportedly a semi automatic for rapid firing...he had additional clips of ammunition with him. And his potential victims... reportedly over 300 soldiers...were lined up (unarmed) like sitting ducks, as they waited for pre-deployment medical care ...something he was entrusted with providing, so his presence there would not have been questioned, I am guessing.
Tabby 99 The guy did try to ship out. He asked to be discharged offered to pay for his training and was denied. I am not ignorant of the Koran as Doug would like to believe. on the on the other hand if a man's beliefs become so strong that he is in direct opposition to his actions as was apparently the case with Hasan this is a problem. How do you handel that ? Do you insist he stay around and fulfill his obligations or do you give him an out and let him leave. I vote for letting him leave. Also a Psych unit they should have been able to spot this man's growing stress and have been able to do something else besides giving the guy a my way or the highway. This may sound like the right solution but in a case where beliefs are strongly held this is not a solution. You can't force the guy to change his beliefs to suit you.
Oh My...
"because Hasan never expressed anger toward the Army or indicated any plans for violence." You need to look at who is reporting what. I do not believe that there has been any official report that "He asked to be discharged, offered to pay for his training and was denied."...I think that was reportedly stated by his family members. Osman Danquah of the Islamic Community of Greater Killeen claims he never expressed anger towards the Army...something you would expect if he was trying to get out. You would also expect that he would go AWOL or refuse his orders or check himself in for psych treatment...if his issue was unbearable stress over being deployed overseas. Seems he wanted to kill unarmed American soldiers on U.S. soil...that's all we know for sure. Hopefully the true facts will come out after a full investigation, but we cannot assume that everything reported gives the whole picture, or is factual.
Thank you KJR at last an answer that makes sense. I remain puzzled at how this man reached a position where he could kill unarmed people. I do not buy the "well what do you expect of a Muslim" explanation which is expressed on this board. That would mean that all of the Muslims in the U.S. are intending on doing holy war against the infidel. I just don't buy that. It seems to me that one of the big weapons that the U.S. could have is to find a way to counteract the idean that some groups have of convincing their members to die for Allah The whole issue of dying for a cause wheather it be martyrdom or for Allah or some other version of God is a very dangerous one. Better to provide channels for righting wrongs for people who are dissatified. I realize this is a more complicated issue than that. But if I were running a propaganda campagne I would definitely try to counter the glory of dying for a cause idea.
One of the weapons was 5.? mm and had a 20 round clip!
His first telling symptom was that he was a muslim.
That is so disgustingly racist. That's like saying "Your mother's first mistake was not believing in abortion". Oh wait... maybe I've got a point there...
Why do normally intelligent people keep repeating this ridiculous phrase ad nauseam? One more time for those of you who just don't get it:
RACISM IS ABOUT ETHNICITY.
What this is, is religious intolerance. People are becoming intolerant of a religion that claims peace, but continues to preach hate and killing.
The BIGGER Question: Why aren't YOU more intolerant of hate and killing?
The word 'Terrorist', has been so overblown! A TERRORIST is one who strikes TERROR in another person. Anyone who feels terror from another person could describe that person as a 'terriorist' If this person had of been white then there would have been so many excuses for him. As for his pro-muslim postings online, have you seen how pro-white rantings are online? I'm sure in the countries we have invaded they see us as 'Terrorists!' But that's alright since when we blow them up for the good ole flag. I hope they fight us forever, people are not animals to be broken, if they came here I would fight them with everthing I have in me, in other words for you dumb asses I WOULD FIGHT AN INVADER FOREVER!
Our troops may kill some innocents as collateral damage but they don't target them. The terrorists target innocents, there is a big difference.
