On one side, "The Muslim Public Affairs Council-DC (MPAC-DC), the Islamic Society of North America Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances (ISNA) and the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council (AMAFVAC) completely denounce this barbaric act of violence". On the other, “Americans will always be a target — and a legitimate target — until America changes its nature in the international arena,” Younes Abdullah Mohammed said in an interview aired on Nov. 6th, 2009 CNN's “AC 360.”
I acknowledge the plain and simple fact, that its only a percent of Muslims creating a great divide.
Yet I also acknowledge the fact that these fanatics: Yousef al-Khattab and Younes Abdullah Mohammed do not care.
They will hide behind their right to free speech.
Oh rights? We'll how 'bout our rights to both free speech and our freedom of information act? Lets pass out fliers with their pictures along with their addresses at say the mall, the bookstores, the subway stations, gun conventions, etc.
Just look at the Muslim hot potato in Europe.........here it comes. They don't want to be part of their new country, they just want the benefits and freedom to breed more hatred for the host country.
While we are handing out names, addresses, and pictures, perhaps we should include the AP's Eric Gorski on a flyer too for writing this apologetic piece of cr*p story!!
I'm pretty sick and tired of Muslims thinking they are "victims" while their counterparts chant anti-American rhetoric day after day. And I'm even sicker that our State-Controlled Press (the AP) makes caucasians look like the "mean, bad, hateful" people. If they would reign in their fanatical elements maybe the world would think they are serious. But instead of killing off these radicals, they defend them. And then on top of it all, traitors like Gorski buy into it and give their movement a "mouthpiece".
I think it's time we start a war on MISinformation and the press too, not just a War on Terror.
And posts like #1.4 are exactly what's leading up to what will be a series of mass killings that will be difficult to end. I don't particularly like Muslims either, but I also don't see much difference between their brand of hatred and the brand that is represented by those who attend political rallies armed with handguns and assault rifles, or carrying signs that say "We came unarmed (this time)."
Fanatics and nuts are the same, regardless of religion and/or political ideology.
First off, if the Muslims would start being serious about stopping these kind of acts by their followers instead of simply apologizing and asking for police protection later, we might see both a reduction in them happening, and less animosity towards the Muslims afterwards. As long as you have Muslim imams preaching this stuff, and still being allowed to do so, you will have these things happen. The peaceful Muslims will have to take it on the chin as a result. IF the "peaceful" Muslims spent as much time denouncing and defrocking any imam or ayatollah who advocated attacks against non muslims, honor killings or any of the other Sharia Laws that are contradictory to US law, as they do apologizing and whining about the criminal acts those imams incite, the non muslims in this country MIGHT take them seriously. Dr M. Zoudi Jassar (spelling?) raised money to defend any passenger who might be sued for the US Airways case where the Imams were thrown off the plane because they were acting in a manner that made the other passengers uncomfortable. The very same IMAMs that CAIR was providing legal counsel for. HE is a VOCAL critic of the radical muslims. When CAIR held one of their little rallies against anti-muslim violence, they rounded up hundreds. When Dr Jassar held a rally denouncing ANY violence, he only had a few dozen show up. What's wrong with that picture? When CAIR stops funding organizations with links to terrorism, and attacks ANY MUSLIM who even advocates violence against non-muslims, I might give them the benefit of the doubt. CAIR doesn't care about Muslim violence against Non Muslims, only the other way around.
As for the people showing up at political rallies with guns or signs saying they are unarmed THIS TIME, THAT has NOTHING to do with hatred, being a nut, or a fanatic. That has to do with CONSTITUTIONAL LAW, and the founding fathers' desire that this country not devolve into the tyranny they had just fought a war to break free from. Do you even realize that the guy who was carrying the AR-15 at the rally in Phoenix was a BLACK Libertarian? He wasn't a white Republican at all. He was a BLACK libertarian. MSNBC cropped the photo to hide his skin tone, so that they could claim it was a racist thing. It isn't. Were you upset when the leftists wrote books and produced movies about assassinating Bush? I would guess not. This administration and Demicratically controlled Congress has done more unconstitutional things in 9 months than the Bush Administration did in 8 years. The Bush administration gave bailouts to companies, the Obama administration SEIZED the privately owned companies and then handed 40% ownership to his friends in the UAW. He used a political hack to determine which dealerships to close. Well what do you know, successful dealerships owned by Republicans were closed while less successful ones owned by Democrats were left open. The Democrats are taking over the banking industry (their demand that banks make loans to people who couldn't afford them, and fraudulent accounting BY DEMOCRATS at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac caused this mess) and telling companies how much they're allowed to pay their employees. The companies are paying what it takes to get and keep top talent. The Dems don't recognize that good people don't come cheap or work for free. The Dems have been told that the bulk of the people do not want nor need socialized medicine. They intend to ram this economy and healthcare destroying bill down our throats anyway. Exactly where in the Constitution does it give the Federal Government the AUTHORITY to do ANY of this? It doesn't. People have the right to peaceably assemble to petition their government for redress of grievances. People have the right to speak their minds. People have the right to keep and bear arms. THOSE ARE SPELLED OUT IN THE CONSTITUTION.What the government is doing is not. Likewise, we haven't had any violent attacks on Tea Party protestors anywhere that protestors have shown up armed. Unlike California where a Union thug crossed the street, attacked a senior citizen and bit off his finger.
Here we go again....I'm getting sick and tired of the apologists for the Muslims. We Americans are not the problem but simply easy targets. I'm also getting quite tired of the PC Police and if we did some profiling we would have prevented the tragedy at Ft. Hood. Wake up people....l think we should send every ACLU type on a big boat over to IRAN and see how they'd like it there.
I hope there is a backlash against Muslims...RADICAL Muslims!! If a Mosque is spreading a message of hate against Infidels then we damn well have the right to keep eyes and ears on it. If it expands to advocating violence then it should be shut down. Freedom of speech only goes so far, once you cross the line into advocating violence your right to free speech is secondary to other people's right to live peacefully without fear some radical Islamic nut is going to shoot them in the back (which Major Hasan did in more than one case Thursday).
I agree, it is a small fraction of muslims causing this issue. We have to be careful not to return to policies like internment camps etc. that punish those that are peace loving as a way to protect against the minority that want America destroyed.
We can allow Americans to have whatever religion they want and STILL deny green cards to muslims.
This wouldn't violate the Bill or Rights because the Constitution only guarantees rights to American citizens. Prospective citizens abroad aren't subject to U.S. law or protections and they can be discriminated against at-will. That's tacky but completely legal.
Too little Too late. Every Friday out of every 10 sermons 8 spew hatred and jihad and when something happens a mild rebuke from the islamic world but celebration in the background or veiled justification - all of these acts simply make a mockery out of these situations and show of concern and regret.
Living by the Koran / Sharia and expecting the entire world to convert to Islam is their stated goal. So if that is their ultimate agenda this fight is going to only continue and get worse. In the Islamic doctrine there is zero tolerance for anyone non-muslim as they are all categorized as 'Kafir' or non-believer. So ultimately it depends on how closely an individual follows the teachings of Islam and the actions they commit against the 'Kafir'.
It is unrealistic to expect that Muslims serving in the forces will be viewed with a jaundiced eye. Call it profiling or whatever but if my life depended on it I am going to be looking over my shoulder. The same has happened in the theatre recently where both US and British troops have been killed by the very people they were training!
The first thing that needs to be done is a crackdown on Islamic centers that spew hatred. This has to be done by the Islamic community themselves. In fact fearing such a crack down and vigilance some of the extreme mullahs have started having their Friday sermons at offsite locations for the benefit of the chosen few that adhere to their extreme thinking - in private homes, hotels etc.
more of the loving muslim religion. kill all nonbelievers. i believe this is the only accepted religion that preaches killing to further their goals. and we are supposed to accept them as friends.
first of all thats just your fantasy guys that muslims will be forced to leave.
secndly muslims were the first dicoverers of America(s), who came with Chritopher Columbus. Muslim navigators from spain and North Africa(well known for developing the art of sea navigation) were hired by Mr. Columbus to find the way to the new land. Muslims explored the land with Columbus and there signs were found in America(s) (TX,AZ) long before the other Europeans made it to the shores.
Where the heck did you get these stories...this is not the time to tell us what muslims have done for America...I just read the profiles of the young soldiers who were either killed or wounded at Fort Hood...I could not be more saddened and in despair at the thought of all these deaths at the hands of some lunatic who should have never been allowed into the military.
Since you guys are spewing hatred towards others you need to be reminded that your generalizations of attitude of hatred against 7+ million muslims in USA is not going to work. I know muslims are facing a challenge and many are getting ready to face the challenge and to fight for their rights when the persecution time comes.
Many Brave muslims have fought for this country since 1600's and more recently in Iraq and afganistan laid down their lives and are ready to fight for their rights also.
By "resolve", do you mean more cowardly, terroristic acts?......Thanks for the warning, but most of us would not expect any less from the "religion of peace" Islam.
since 9-11 so many incidents of muslim abuse and bashing threats and also acts of killing have happened in this country but the main news media never reported - because of the bias and hatred against muslims.
By "resolve", not just one but 7 million we mean that more cowardly acts of ridicule, threats, harassment and death threats by the muslim haters in america will surely be resisted by the muslims by fighting for their rights to survive with honor and dignity.
If the Muslim faith does not agree with Yousef al Kattab or Younes Abdullah Mohammed then why do I not see any leader in the Mosque come outside and tell them they are wrong and misdirected?????
Muslims Discovered America with C. Columbus- and today they are ridicled in their own by Islam hater like all here and blame the mentally sick man's problem now on all 7+ million muslims and make them a target of hatred. Why ?
In fact, Christopher Columbus reached out to the Muslim “Moors.” The Admiral of the Ocean Seas was substantially influenced by the Arabs to the point he could not have reached the New World in 1492 without his North African designed sails. While Arab culture was waning in Southwestern Europe by the late 16th Century (CE), Columbus’ voyages notably brought subtle Arab influences to the Spanish colonies and later the Portuguese colony in the Americas – including those parts in the United States that Washington (D.C.) seized in the Mexican-American and the Spanish-American War plus the Louisiana Purchase!
Although Madrid prohibited Muslims from the Americas, the Alamo now in Texas is a classic example of Arabic Architecture! New Orleans was a city shunted back and forth between the Iberians and the French. Finally, President Thomas Jefferson bought it from the Emperor Napoleon. When the Spanish possessed that famous city, they imported Islamic ironwork for which the Metropolis near mouth of the Mississippi — plus the renowned Muslim-styled courtyards within the Big Easy — migrated from the Middle East via the Iberian Peninsula.
Before you take Islam at its word as a "Religion of Peace" read the Koran/Haddith. Realize that Islam is actually a Theo-Political Philosophy that is on a path of world hegemony.
Muslim political leaders and Imams have stated on various occasions their desire to live in a Pan-Arab/Muslim world that must be acheived at any possible cost.
The Jihad they embark upon (there are two definitions of Jihad, "the greater and the lesser') is the latter, or the violent annihaliation of non-believers that refuse to convert to Islam or pay a special tax to remain Jewish, Christian or Hindu.
If one views all the regions of the world that are suffering political strife, Islam is the common denominator. Before anyone else uses the defense that other religions have caused great turmoil and suffering, look at the actual holy scriptures of all major religions and you will clearly see that only Allah through is Messenger Mohammed ( a ruthless, epileptic General and acknowledged pedophile) stresses violence and the ruthless methods of religious conversion.
The greatest democracies of the US, Israel and India protect the individual rights of their Muslim populations/citizens and look at the suffering these protected minorities cause.
We must wake up an at least acknowledge the truth, that Islam strives for our destruction, this is not right wing propoganda but rather the words from Islamic leaders and Imams...if they are saying they want to murder us then why are our liberal apologists saying these very same people do not pose a threat to us...
These same Muslims have stated time and time again that even when they negotiate treaties/peace talks with non-believers, they are justified in lying at the time if it further benefits the long term goal of Islamic domination...
For you who stands up for the truth, justice and fairplay is a just a liberal. Thats good then to be liberal than a burnt out full of hate conservative.
Muslims have earned their rights in democracy through their personal hard work and efforts and nobody is doing any favors to them. In fact muslims brought civilization to many of the places in world such as India where the caste system was degrading human beings based on racism. Muslim taught hindus the manners and many converted from hindu (particularly the persecuted low class hindu by upper class brahman hindu) in to muslim because of freedom and rights Islam gave them. Muslim instituted democratic systems in tribal hindu India controlled by brahmans.
norsam, Thank you for supplying this information, although, from the response you've been getting it doesn't look as if it is well received. I, too, am one very weary of finger pointing, assumptions and the overall urge to hate all Muslim because they are Muslim. It seems strange to me that other religions have their horrific acting groups and no one seems to notice. If we don't stop condemning one sector of society and cease to put them all in one category when the idea is ludicrous we will never find peace. There are very troubled people in every sector of life and to say the troubled and the peaceful are the same is not progress. We need to open up our minds and use some logic and problem solving then maybe, the facts will emerge.
I have long thought that our laws stating we can't "profile" people because that's discrimination is ridiculous.
If I go to China and white women with blue eyes and blond hair are in a religion that teaches people to shoot or kill other's, no one would think twice about China "profiling" them. Are all blue-eyed blond woman a part of that religion? No, but I shouldn't be offended that someone decides to check my bags extra careful at places known for blue-eyed blond females to attack.
Apply that to muslims, baptists, atheists, PETA, etc. It doesn't matter WHO the group is...if the group has higher than average violence then it makes sense to check them carefully.
As for backlash....there probably will be and I have no problem with it (to an extent).
Many of the muslims are applauding what this man did.
The media should be to blame for the backlash, If it happens! Just report as you see it, But we have to mention Muslim and report in front of mosque's. This gives the audience ideas! He was a soldier who flipped out, And many have.
The people on the left, the normal people, are able to take the information in properly and look at it objectively and rationally. The right, the ignorant, see the word "Muslim" and they immediately think suicide bombers and beheadings as if all Muslims are that way.
News sites need to implement a system whereby you tell it which way you lean and it presents you with one of two versions of an article. If you lean left, you get an uncensored, information packed article. If you lean right, you get an article where triggers words like "Muslim", "Mosque", "Freedom", "Education, "Obama" are removed so as to not incite violent thoughts and potentially violent actions.
While we are handing out names, addresses, and pictures, perhaps we should include the AP's Eric Gorski on a flyer too for writing this apologetic piece of cr*p story!!

I'm even more disgusted by BLS' ignorant comments above. Throwing all conservative 'right wingers' under a label makes you as stupid as the people who throw all Muslims under the bus. You practice the same hatred you profess do oppose. You just direct it at a different group, in this case Conservatives.
What's that stand for BLS? Bull---t Liberal Scumbag?
Normal people on the left? You mean people like you, right? So tell all of us right-wing extremists in the audience about all the horrific acts of violence that have been committed against muslims in America since 9/11.
Really, you can tell me the left is, how did you put it, "normal people...are able to take the information in properly and look at it objectively and rationally." Seriously, come on, you have got to be joking with me. Are you saying Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Hillary (stand by her man) Clinton are all normal?? Oh, let's not forget Jeremiah Write and Al Sharpton and William (blow'em up) Ayers, are all normal?? Damn dude, I think you have a lose nut or two in the ol' noggin.
Sad fact is, this guy was of Arabic descent, did have an Arab name, and whether he really yelled "Allah ahkbar" I don't really know, but no doubt he did flip out, and he was on his way to flipping out and nobody wanted to admit it or stop it before it happened.
WE have to face the fact that this guy gave plenty of warning signs, nobody listened and he turned to the one thing that all lunatics turn to in the end...their whacked out religion. Reports say that he was dressed in full Arabic garb, he was in the military, he should have been dressed in BDUs. He walked in and started shooting the place up. He yelled, out of despiration maybe, "Allah ahkbar!" If he was just trying to release steam and get a heavy load off of his chest, why the hell did he have to invoke Allah??
And as far as your whacked out theory that the right only looks for the tweak words, you had better look at why the fanatics used those words in the first place. They have a message to give and they want to go out with a bang.
I don't know if any of this made sense, but my bottom line about your statement, the most idiotic thing I have ever heard come out of Keith Doberman or Rachel Madcow's mouthes.
Normal people on the left? You mean people like you, right? So tell all of us right-wing extremists in the audience about all the horrific acts of violence that have been committed against muslims in America since 9/11.
Our democratic tradition and rule of law are the only things standing in the way of it occurring because there is a slice of the Christian Right that would love nothing more than that level of destruction.
I will state it up front that I'm not categorizing all the good Christian people - and there are many in their ranks just as there are good Muslims within the ranks of that faith - but if the shoe fits, wear it.
Christian Reconstructionists make no pretense about subscribing to the pluralistic ideas of government or even religious tolerance because this would require them to accept a source of ethical standards other than the Bible. Dominionism accepts wholeheartedly Christian nationalism, maintaining that America was once a Christian nation & rejecting the influence of the Enlightenment upon the founding of our constitutional republic and representative democracy. These two movements - Reconstructionism and Dominionism - provide the philosophical framework for the Religious Right and the underpinnings Neo-Conservativism.
It would serve all Americans well, Christian or otherwise, to educate themselves about these movements. Two of their primary philosophers are Rousas John Rushdoony and Gary North, among others. My interpretation of their efforts is that they want nothing less than a return to ancient Rabbinical Law. They have a long pedigree of denying the Holocaust, defending slavery and segregation & outlawing interracial marriage. Their list of crimes warranting the death penalty would increase ten-fold. At the very least, they advocate the subversion of civil law to that of THEIR interpretation of Biblical law. Many of these proponents of the laity & government's submission to the Old Testament are quite close to Rev. Dobson et al and I have seen them on the 700 Club on television.
Consequently, I don't think it's over the top to see this particular brand of stuff as our version of The Taliban. Do you wish proof it is not? I still maintain that it's not the particular brand of ideology which is at fault but the hearts of men. The only difference between our Taliban is that our democratic institutions and rule of law keeps them from causing much mischief beyond the murder of a physician in Kansas who provides reproductive services to women.
The second you add RADICAL to Muslim I'm all for a backlash against it. You don't have any free speech right to advocate violence and hate in this country. I may be a soldier and I may be capable of violence but I can't go around shooting unarmed people, not here and not in combat. Major Hasan should bring justified scrutiny on to the growing numbers of Muslims harboring radical beliefs. The Mosque in Minneapolis that is recruiting Somali youths to return and join in Jihad should be monitored and if it is found to be breaking OUR laws shut down. Freedom of religion only goes so far. That applies to Christians who advocate violence as well but seriously who's the bigger threat right now?
Here are some statistics regarding attacks on muslims since 9/11:
In the United States, in 2006, the FBI reported 156 incidents and 191 offenses of anti-Islamic nature, involving 208 victims. The offenses included 24 aggravated assaults, 30 simple assaults, 79 cases of intimidation, 1 robbery, 5 burglaries, 51 cases involving destruction or damage to property, and one “other” offense. Among the 1,750 victims of hate crimes motivated by religious hatred, the 208 people who were victims of anti-Islamic prejudice represented about 12 percent of the overall number.
These figures represent an increase over the figures reported by the FBI in 2005. In that year, the organization reported 128 incidents and 146 offenses involving 151 victims. These offenses included 8 aggravated assaults, 27 simple assaults, 64 cases of intimidation, 4 robberies, 3 burglaries, 2 cases of larceny-theft, 36 cases involving destruction or damage to property, and two “other” offenses. An increase could be seen in all categories except that of robbery.
this was a tragedy for sure and my condolences to the loved one and friends left behind!
that said, this country that we live in was founded on religious freedom! come on please do NOT lump all Muslims together as terrorists nor Catholics as child molesters, etc. most of what i am reading here is childish, bullying behavior!
every place that is inhabited on this earth has a certain part of the population that will cause problems or kill someone! ok maybe not the south pole but everywhere else that is populated! overall, the USA is a pretty mellow place to live. We are NOT fighting wars on our own soil thank God and in the places where there is domestic war going on well war breeds hatred and hostility!
don't blame all the Muslims in this world for something that happened where a Muslim was involved. think about your anger before you act! less people would be harmed if we all did that!
Skinheads are Christians, KKK are Christians and many other violent and hate driven people act in the name of Christianity. Muslims are as peaceful as any peaceful Christian is, but they are easily pointed out and scorned by many due to their different points of view. Attacking a belief system due to the renegade few is so wrong. Fearing the unknown is easy so the best advice is to do a bit of research before condemning any one sector of society.
"Normal people on the left? You mean people like you, right? So tell all of us right-wing extremists in the audience about all the horrific acts of violence that have been committed against muslims in America since 9/11."
franksam-941433, heard of the Iraq War? Based on George Bush's lies, we invaded Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and killed over 100,000 innocent civilians there. And people like you wonder why the USA is hated around the world.
We seem to think, as Americans, that we can invade any country we like, kill hundreds of thousands of people, lose many of our own and that's ok. If we are attacked in any way we are incensed and have the "How dare you" attitude. This event is horrific and we will mourn the loss of those killed and hurt, those left behind and the illness this man carried within him, however, to attack all Muslims for his act is ludicrous.
dewintre 200, There have been thousands of atrocious deeds in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Christian God. All were fear based.
dewintre200 wrote....I haven't seen any Baptists blow themselves up in a nightclub lately shouting Jesus' name.
No they just blow up and kill with guns people that don't walk, talk, lie, have sex with anything that walks, "all in the name of jesus" I laugh everytime listening to the BS of the sooo all christians.
BLS - thanks for being among the first to try to make a non-political (left vs. right) issue a politically-charged, divisive discussion.
There are plenty of Newsvine threads where you can join in discussions to spew political division rather than contribute reasonable, rational thoughts so that we can work together to make our beautiful nation united and strong again.
Perhaps you should look in the mirror to see who is the name-caller and ignorant one, BLS.
Right wingers BLS??What about the liberal riots in cal back in the 70`s lmao my my how you libs have a short memory.Every riot that goes bad has a liberal behind it! Lies and more lies from the libs
Perhaps if the extremists on both the right and left would just get rid of one another, the sane majoirty in the middle can build a life in America worthy of emulation.
maybe a backlash would be a good thing. The Muslims will feel the heat and emmigrate somewhere else. Muslims are aware that further violence by a Muslim within the USA will trigger more violence against them, in an armed nation. GOOD!
You guys want to talk about muslims being evil and bad, let's talk about the white guys at Fort Carson and how they committed acts of murder for fun, and hit and stabbbed other folks. Let's look at the Fort Carson crimes shall we:
The toxic mix left a death toll in Colorado.
Judilianna Lawrence, 19, was raped and killed by a soldier last October, prosecutors charge.
In June 2008, Cesar Ramirez Ibanez, 21, and Amairany Cervantes, 18, were mowed down with an AK-47. A soldier is charged.
In December, 2007, Spc. Kevin Shields was shot to death on the city's west side. Three soldiers are in prison for that.
A few months earlier, Pfc. Robert James was shot to death in a robbery. Two soldiers are doing time for it.
Before that, a taxi driver in Pueblo was gunned down by a Fort Carson GI who has since been convicted.
Another soldier is doing 30 years behind bars for gunning down an alleged drug dealer in a botched robbery.
One killed his infant.
One killed a friend with a fire poker.
Another killed his wife and then himself.
Gee are these all muslims? Most likely all white. What about what has happened at Fort Bragg, and other bases where folks are being murdered? Should I consider this acts of terrorism? I will now since I know for a fact that most folks who kill folks = terrorism.
defending this muslim monster is only going to make Americans angrier and the inevitable backlash much more serious. I would suggest to you that if the muslim community were to take responsibility for not policing their own and totally condemning this act of barbarism, then wounds may eventually heal.
Otherwise, you will see a backlash in employment, business, and anything and everything else that affects people's lives.
Very true Peach...........the more these idiots try to understand, explain and stupidly defend Hasan, pisses people off that much more. Even that stupid pic of him trying to smile on the web pic, incites anger.
Peach, I am not defending this muslim monster. I am defending all of the innocent muslims in this country who don't do wrong. Actually I am more disturbed by those who think only muslims are bad when everybody commits acts of violence. Do you honestly believe that the muslim community is not ashame of what he had done? I am simply pointing out that soldiers of all race have done things like murder, attempted murder, etc. I just find it amazing that there are many, especially white folks who have done the same thing and it gets pushed under the rug. If you feel that the muslim community needs to police their folks, can you explain to me where was the military when all of those women/other folks were being killed on the base? Where was the white community when Jaycee was kidnapped? BTW, I have seen muslims condemn this act. Obviously, you must be one of those Fox viewers who believe that only muslims commit acts of hatred. No, I am not a muslim, I have worked with muslims, and have family members who are in that religion (and before you ask, it's my female cousin, who is married to a catholic man, and they have three daughters who are being raised as muslims). She is a doctor. Have you not watched the news lately, we have had kids missing in Florida, mostly white and the crime is committed by folks that know the child and not a stranger, yes, there is an alleged black serial killer and there have been 10-11 bodies found in his house, and yes, folks did report stuff to the cops (missing relatives, bad smells) but the cops dismissed it.
Oh and when you can explain to me all of the deaths at the military base by those who committed acts of violence (as the list I provided in my previous post), then I will fully agree with you. I don't see this as a holy war. I see this as one man. And please tell me when I was defending this muslim (using this word as if it is a curse word). I am simply pointing out that there have been other crimes committed by soldiers on bases but yet, they do not get all of the same media coverage as this current case. Oh and if you don't believe me on that let me give you a current example: The current case coming out of Cleveland, Ohio where the guy who is accused of killing all those women is all over the damn tv. A little white girl goes missing in Missouri, they find out a 15 yo girl has killed her, most likely white, and then that story mysteriously disappears. Apparently, I guess this country is still in the we don't believe a white girl can commit an act of violence. Hey, get used to it, all types of folks regardless of race, gender and age commit acts of violence. So why are folks so surprised?
Your tirade about "whites" who commit atrocities was a poor example that someone should have brought to your attention, "Whites" is a differentiation or classification based upon race/ethnicity, our concerns for this forum is the violence of Islam/Muslims...not necessarily Muslims from Indonesia, Bosnia, India, Pakistan, The Middle East, Africa, etc...but rather the religion as an entity...
Of course there are deviants who are Christian, Jew/Hindu/Agnostic/Atheist etc...but there religion of mutually exclusive from their immorality or crime...with Muslims the immorality we speak of is condoned or even coerced...
Look at female suicide bombers, many are victims of rape, mental disorders or widohood, they are threatend if they do not embrace a role as a suicide bomber...
Did any of you out there know that 97% of women in jail, in naions that are islamic by religion, are in jail for being victims of rape who could not bring four witnesses into court to attest to their innocence!!!
Look at the belief in 'Honor Killings"...
How about the islamic belief that killing pregnant Israelis is great because the soon to be born child will some day have to serve in the military so the fetus is actually a potential soldier in training, how do you sons of Mohammed (The epileptic, illiterate, pedophile and murderer) respond???
I must start off by saying that I know my feelings are "wrong" and I grapple everyday with my mistrust, anger and suspicion.
People talk about Radical Christians and radicals in every religion, but the difference is with radical Christians rarely go on killing sprees. Yes, they may hole up in a bunker or mountain, but they are not out doing car bombs and suicide bombings every day or planning mass attacks against cities. Radical Christians are against killing in general because it is against "God" yet radical Muslimshave no such qualms and are told that it is God's will that they kill. Sure Mormon's and J. Witness knock on your door and bother you, but they don't fly into buildings.
I know not all Muslims feel this way, but it is hard to truly believe this when it seems to continualy happen on a monthly basis. I have friends who are Muslim and unfortunately everyday I am with them I wonder if they are plotting something too. I know that I shouldn't and that it isn't correct, but it's sure hard not to have some fear. The difference is I can admit it. Whereas most just pretend it isn't there.
You're right, Radical Christians don't do things like car bombings and suicide bombings. Instead they do atom bombs, carpet bombs, drone attacks, invasion, occupation, all of which result in a permanent psychological scar in the region and hundreds of thousands of ruined lives.
radical Christians practically exterminated native Americans, they murdered and tortured their way throught the crusades.....in our time George W "talks with God" Bush invaded Iraq in a misguided effort to bestow American Christian values upon the little brown people. Radical fundamentalist religion leads to persecution of non-believers. God is not in some book, nor did God write a book. God does not belong to any church or religion.
Weren't you part of the group that said this country wasn't founded and developed on Christian principles? I'm confused. If you think the Christians were bad, wait until the Muslims come knocking on your door.
viva - but you will blanketly blame all Arabs/Muslims for the actions of a few? Don't you see the hypocrisy? It is your right to walk the other way when you see an Arab, of course ... but it makes little sense.
And now christians are living in the 21st century and haven't done anything such as crusade since, oh, the dark ages. Why in the world do you radical left keep trying to compare what happened many hundreds of years ago with what is happening today?? The war in Iraq and Afghanistan has nothing to do with religion. Please show me proof of this line of thought.
Oh, I get it, because the muslim world is so far behind the rest of the world, I mean they barely have crawled out of the caves, you give them a pass to blow people to pieces and shoot them at random. This is what it sounds like to me, but then again, according to BS, I am a right wing radical that knows nothing.
NOBODY has the right to walk into a building or a mall or a gathering place of any type and start shooting indiscriminately. What disgusting bunch of people you are.
Thomas Freidman explained it this way: Islam is God 2.0, whereas Christianity is God 1.0. Those are computer terms. I had a college professor explain it like this: Islam is a college professor, Christianity is a junior high teacher. For the better part of a thousand years Muslims ruled most of the world. They had the most advanced civilizations, the best education, the greatest universities, the best scientists, the latest science, they developed the modern study of history, modern day grammar comes from Islam, as well. Europe was in the dark ages, the ugly and gloomy time when learning and progress were denounced. After the greatness of the Roman Empire declined, Europe became the most horrible and backward places on Earth. The Renaissance, the rebirth, brought on largely by the European encounters with Muslims during the Crusades, allowed for European culture to flourish. The Europeans, with, in the Islamic view, a much lower understanding of God than they, thrived, improved and then led the world. The Americans, then took over. We, in this country, are the most offensive of all. We allow women to dress in a manner that exposes their bodies and causes men to view them as objects of sex. Even the wife of the President of the United States, exposes far too much of her body to the public. She attires herself that greatly reveals her sexuality. Beyonce is coming to Egypt, to perform, attired in a manner that inflame sexual desire. We believe in relying on our own efforts to secure our prosperity, we beleive in 'freedom' that excludes God and morality, that excludes the poor from consideration in the pursuit of that wealth. We support Israel to reign supreme in a small portion of land that should be controlled by Muslims, because their understanding of God is greater than the Jews, who have, in the words of the Qu'ran, 'distorted the Word of God.' The world is ravaged with pollution, greed, crime, injustice, and much of the world lives in poverty, yet, we in the Christian west, ignore these concerns in the pursuit of personal pleasure and wealth without caring for the poor and dispossessed. Therefore they look at us in anger. They live according to God's will and they suffer, while we live as evil people yet, thrive and prosper. This is their view.
the bible, qu'ran, and torah can be sources of inspiration and learning, but to give them authority is a big mistake. they're ancient wisdom from another time. open your eyes!. people use these books to justify their hatred and intolerance for people who do not follow the same cultural traditions as they do. yet all 3 books preach against such hatred and intolerance... religious fundamentalism is the bane of mankind. fundamentalists close their minds and are followers who are easily lead astray by those to whom they give authority, whether imams or rabbis or priests or pastors. god is within you, not some church and certainly not some book. No human being can come between you and god unless you allow it.
VIVA - it's wrong and unfair to use the term Arab so loosely. Not all people of Arab ethnicity are Muslims or Muslim extremists. There are many Arabs who are of Christian faiths, and I happen to be one of them.
Radical Christians don't do the things outlined because in their version of events - far from the peace, love and compassion they tout - God is gonna do it for them.
I am not going near the look..........that's enough for me. I'm not going to apologize for that feeling, just like they are not going to apologize for me looking like an infidel..............just walk away. I don't have to be in their space. I don't have to be careful how I answer.........
In the 20th century alone, Western and/or Christian powers have been responsible for at least twenty times more deaths than have Muslim powers. In this most brutal of centuries, we created incomparably more civilian casualties than have Muslims in the whole of Islamic history. This continues even in our day—witness the slaughter of 900,000 Rwandans in 1994 in a population that was over 90 % Christian; or the genocide of over 300,000 Muslims and systematic rape of over 100,000 Muslim women by Christian Serbs in Bosnia between 1992 and 1995. The horrible truth is that, numerically and statistically speaking, Christian Civilization is the bloodiest and most violent of all civilizations in all of history, and is responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths.
Waq I am going to go through this hogwash piece by piece because far too much of it is opinion and much of the rest is historically inaccurate.
Thomas Freidman explained it this way: Islam is God 2.0, whereas Christianity is God 1.0. Those are computer terms. I had a college professor explain it like this: Islam is a college professor, Christianity is a junior high teacher.
THAT is opinion. EVERYONE has one. While the Muslims did promote Science and Art, they got a lot of that from the JEWS. Under Saladin, all three religions lived and worked together. This entire animosity towards the west is a relatively new development.
For the better part of a thousand years Muslims ruled most of the world.
Nonsense. They have NEVER ruled anywhere outside of the area surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. They never advanced any further into Europe than Spain, nor did they rule any major part of China. Also since the religion is ONLY 1300+ years old, and the NEW World was discovered over 500 years ago, it is impossible for this to be accurate. The MONGOLS controlled more of the world than the Muslims did.
They had the most advanced civilizations, the best education, the greatest universities, the best scientists, the latest science, they developed the modern study of history, modern day grammar comes from Islam, as well.
Hard to believe someone thinks this way. Islam had a lot going for it, and did advance science more than the west during the middle ages. They did value education, but they also valued the contributions of others. The Jews were well regarded for their education and medical contributions in the Muslim world while they were being persecuted in the Christian one. I really doubt modern grammar comes from Islam since the RUSSIAN language was first put into writing by Saint Basil in the 8th century. (less than 200 years following the founding of Islam, and far before any muslims made it to Russia. Otherwise wouldn't that big onion domed cathedral in Moscow be a mosque and probably not named Saint Basil's?) Hebrew, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Latin and most of the Scandinavian languages all predate ISLAM, so to claim Islam is responsible for their grammatic structure is a flat out lie. There actually were ARAB countries before ISLAM. Sorry to bust your bubble on that one. The muslims didn't build Constantinople. The Eastern Christians did. They didn't build Alexandria, or Cairo, the Egyptians did. What MAJOR city of the old world DID the Muslims build? Madrid? maybe. They certainly were masterful architects, the Alhambra is beautiful. But they had nothing to do with the building of ROME, PARIS, MOSCOW, PRAGUE or LONDON all of which are cities that date back to the middle ages.
Now that I will agree with. The Europeans during the dark ages were ignorant. One of these days the Muslims will advance out of the dark ages philosophy instead of just educationally.
The Europeans, with, in the Islamic view, a much lower understanding of God than they, thrived, improved and then led the world.
Yes Europe lead the world.
The Americans, then took over.
YES WE DID.
We, in this country, are the most offensive of all. We allow women to dress in a manner that exposes their bodies and causes men to view them as objects of sex. It's called FREEDOM of CHOICE, we have that here. NOT religiously mandated control. IF we had a state religion, Muslims would not have been allowed to come to this country, nor reside here. IF YOU WANT TO LIVE UNDER SHARIA LAW, feel free to renounce your citizenship and move to IRAN. You have the FREEDOM to do that.
Like I said earlier, if you don't like it here, feel free to pack up your bags and leave. This is the United States of America. You can assimilate or you can leave. Your entire last paragraph was NOTHING but an anti-semitic radical Muslim rant. The VERY TYPE of rant heard being spewed from the imams who breed this type of violence. If you don't want the Christians to look at all Muslims as dangerous lunatics, you need to assimilate. You have the right to do and say what you want with YOUR body, you DO NOT have the right to tell ANYONE ELSE what to do with theirs. BTW exactly how many charitable hospitals, OPEN to people of EVERY FAITH, have the muslims built around the world? Are there ANY Muslim children's charities providing food and clothing to children in impoverished nations, regardless of their religion? I didn't think so. I get so disgusted with people claiming that the US citizenry is so selfish, when we donate more out of pocket to charity than any other country on the planet.
Fred G, that maybe true, although we could argue whether the US is a "christian" nation. Especially since there is supposed to be freedom of religion in American.
However, radical Christians have caused quite a bit of damage in their time.
VIVA - Be the outspoken person you usually are. You made statements, yet you don't tell us who "those people" with "the look" are. What is "the look" and how can you scientifically tell that someone is Muslim, Jewish, or ethnically Christian Arab? Do you judge simply by superficial appearance? If you do, I should tell you that L'Oreal and Clairol have good hair colorings and those of us with dark hair can become redheads or blondes in less than an hour.
Throughout my life, I've been told that I "look" Middle Eastern, Italian, Spanish, and Jewish. The best one was when someone told me they thought I was Muslim, because I had dark hair and eyes.
I do agree with you about those who get in our faces about issues. I find that intolerable. Ignorance abounds, and it's not only since 9/11/2001. Never judge a book by its cover!
If I feel uncomfortable around someone...............I walk the other direction. It might be you..........so? For sure anyone with a turban or clothing that might hide a weapon of mass destruction........LOL
Some people didn't judge a book by it's cover and those were the idiots that brought the towers down.
Wow, Viva ... that was quick! I enjoy talking with you. Really, I do. Since I live in northern NJ, seeing those towers crash down 8 years ago is still a vivid horror of a memory. All I've been trying to say to you is that not everyone with "the look" you describe is a terrorist.
But, if a person isn't sporting a turban, head scarf, hijab, or other identifying clothing, how do you know that that person, also, might not be hiding a WMD? (ex., the Orlando, FL shooter did "minimal" harm vs. Hasan ... but people were still senselessly killed or injured)
Vigilance and awareness of our surroundings are one thing ... intolerance is another.
I do respect your opinion, even if/when I don't agree with it.
It just happened............I never noticed people that dressed differently or spoke with an accent, but now I don't trust like I use to. Yes, I have changed my viewpoint about the middle eastern countries. My daughter has a Jordanian friend and tells me that they really stick together even in the posh area of New York where they live. They support each others businesses and view the rest of us as outsiders. Funny we are the outsiders...........oh well, such is freedom. Her friend always catches grief at the airports and in Mexico..........boy they really give them a hard time.
You are extremely ignorant. Christians (US) kill thousdands of Muslims every year. Yes we were attacked by a particular Radical group. But we don't mind bombing all Muslims so we can get the ones we want. Christians don't kill??? You Moron.
I, too, have changed some of my viewpoints. I'm not as open as I used to be. Maybe that comes with age, maybe it comes with our understanding of 9/11's impact.
I think that there may be many explanations for why ethnic groups "stick together." The first one, I believe, is that if they are new to our country, it's a comfort zone that offers them familiarity with customs and languages they left behind. My grandparents, in the early 20th century, did the same, but quickly assimilated and became American citizens.
Where I do have a problem is when, after 5-10 years, people have made no attempts to learn English yet somehow get a driver's license and attain citizenship. Well, that's a different topic.
They do support each other's businesses, but our early immigrants did the same.
Please always remember, VIVA ... Americans are never the outsiders in America (and that wasn't a right or left wing comment ... it was an American comment).
NJ.......this particular group of people are doctors and their family has been here for two generations. I hear that they are looking to marry my daughter's friend to his cousin.........yet they are Christians. They also still go back and forth to Jordan where they have a home and servants to wait on them for room and board. They are by no means new to this country............I'm third generation Mexican American and I think you are totally right about illegals or whatever you were implying.
VIVA - I can't guess what this family's plans may be. Their educational levels or wealth in Jordan really have nothing to do with life in the US. I have extremely wealthy relatives in various countries in the world whom I've visited, and I've been waited on. I'm not accustomed to that, because I'm only middle-class USA. I'm very happy for them, but I'm content with my modest home that no longer has a mortgage.
This young woman, obviously born in the US, has the choice to live her life as she sees fit or bow to her family's wishes. It may be difficult for her. She will not be stoned in the US and needs to know this.
I have family in Mexico and have spent several months visiting. I love the culture, food (not Taco Bell), and music. I wasn't insinuating that all Mexicans were illegals, although that's what too many people choose to believe.
My comments about learning English and assimilation were meant for every immigrant, regardless of country or ethnic origin.
This person is a man 27 years old, he will be married to his cousin as his culture dictates. He will be banished if he doesn't comply. My main point is that he assimilates on the surface.........he is a part of our country, but apart from the mainstream. Sorry if it seems unclear. I think my daughter feels sorry for him, she interprets for him. Even as he has no idea how the Mexican doctors insult and belittle him. I hope she is not around the day he snaps.........Anyway soon he will go back to New York with his own and not have to deal with it. As for my daughter, she is able to function with many groups and I am proud of her, but I do worry. I know that many Middle Easterners think of women as second class. Just some observations..............
I really am sick and tired of hearing all these excuses and apologies for what this murderer did. Now I read that he attended the same mosque as the 9/11 terrorists. Give me a break. Just stop and think...what do you think would have happened if the same killings had been committed by an American soldier in some arab country and the murdered soldiers would have all been muslims???? They would have beheaded every single westerner in sight and torn to pieces the perpetrator. WE are being taken advantage of by these people. This monster is going to get due process of law and will have all the advantages that our country offers. He was born here, raised here, and went to school on our dime and turned around and killed our young soldiers...that's what you can expect from these people. They're all busy defending him and making excuses for him.
I would say it’s about time we start putting Muslims in camps away from society and then have them deported to foreign Muslim countries that will tolerate their religious fanaticism. To many Americans’ are dieing at the hands of Muslim berserkers’ and its time that our government actually do something to deal with the problem before a few more Muslim fanatics are able to commit another devastating terrorist attack, and more good Americans’ die for the rite of a minority of people to live in the U.S., who most people in the states don’t really even like or trust, to be very honest.
It’s not like Muslims had anything to do with the foundations of America, and the times of America needing to be a nation of migrants is over. We have too many people as it is with no employment and do not need anymore.
Exhibit A..........they have their countries that embrace they point of view and believe the same........go back and live there where your people are and will be of the same mindset. Free to go back, don't join our military and use our system, only to spit on it.
puh-lease. There are plenty of Muslim-Americans who live here in peace and never make the news because they dont do anything wrong. They go to work, they pay taxes, and they contribute to society just as much as any other citizen does. They are our teachers, politicians, police officers, soldier, small business owners, and just about every other occupation in America. So what you are saying is that we round up CITIZENS and LEGAL RESIDENTS and send them away to a foreign country? Sometimes I wonder how some people can think like this and then call themselves "real Americans". The Americans I know would NEVER turn their back on other innocent Americans simply because they worship differently than they do.
I would say it’s about time we start putting Muslims in camps away from society
Who comes after them? Anyone else you don't like? Someone who doesn't attend your church; your gay neighbor; how about that women down the street raising two kids without a dad (oh! the shame!). You make me ashamed to be an American and even more so the 20 years of my life I spent defending your right to advocate such nonsense.
Out of 1.5 Billion Muslims worldwide maybe 50 million cause the troubles. That's like 3%. You can't go setting up interment camps for what MIGHT happen. You can however monitor those who espouse violent viewpoints and try to stop them before they turn those thoughts into action, which is exactly what should have happened with Major Hasan. There was at least six months warning he might go off and NOTHING WAS DONE,NOTHING!! At some point those who knew about his postings and failed to act need to be held accountable, of course with the disease of Political Correctness spreading like a pandemic maybe they were scared to!!
Brad Melton- First, thank you for serving our country and protecting America. Second, you do realize that very often, some of us are trying to speak rationally with the irrational? (As an aside, you and I have disagreed in the past, but there's always a polite way to do so. Thanks again for that!)
I thought the last Nazi died last month but here you are alive and well. Somebody please invent a time machine so we can send this boob back to Nazi Germany
Muslims were the first dicoverers of America(s), who came with Chritopher Columbus. Muslim navigators from spain and North Africa(well known for developing the art of sea navigation) were hired by Mr. Columbus to find the way to the new land. Muslims explored the land with Columbus and there signs were found in America(s) (TX,AZ) long before the other Europeans made it to the shores.
Internment camps is going a bit too far but I keep thinking that these monsters might hit us again with a bigger tragedy than 9/11. As a New Yorker, I can promise you that we don't have the emotional fortitude nor the stamina to withstand another 9/11. The Fort Hood tragedy may be just a wakeup call for us to prevent another 9/11. I don't know what can be done...all I know is that if all the cities in America are as open as New York City is, then we're in very big trouble and we can definitely expect some muslim monsters to create havoc and kill thousands of Americans. They hate us so much...it borders on being psychotic.
This incident should be taken very seriously by Homeland Security. American cities are wide open and we're totally naive as to the number of enemies who live amongst us pretending to be peaceful. Less than a month ago, a muslim cleric in NYC was collaborating with some muslim terrorist to blow up the subway system in NYC. They would have killed thousands upon thousands of innocent people on their way to work or on their way home.
I truly do not like to bash anyone on the political front, but after 9/11 there were many catch-praises that did not help in any way. Axis of Evil is one that comes to mind...another, Weapons of Mass Destruction. All of these praises did one destructive success in that people conjured up a mass of fear based upon the hype. When a leader repeats the "Let's take them down" lament over and over again the masses congregate to play backup. Throughout history one group or another has decided that another group is poison and must be done away with. In many of these posts, it appears to be another one of those banishing goals. Artificial fear has brought down more people through terror, murder and mass destruction than any other emotion. If you are suspicious of others, believe others are out to get you or cannot be trusted your paranoia levels skyrocket. It truly confuses me so many will buy into some of the worst mindsets and never separate themselves with the truth. Cautions are advised, true fear is something you can act upon, artificial fear will bring you down. What you believe you draw to you for confirmation so if you don't clean up your perspective life is going to be filled with monster out to get you. This is where wars come from and lives are lost.
American muslims need to do a lot more than express outrage.... they need to start co-operating with investigators and turn in people who sympathize with the radical terrorist element. The reluctance of muslims to "turn in their brothers" leads directly to the death of innocents. If muslims want to cleanse themselves of the stigma of being terrorist sympathizers, they need to co-operate fully with the authorities to help weed out the radicals.
They won't, they don't think that way.............we give them too much credit and it doesn't work. In their culture if you piss one off they will find out where you live and kill your family.
Joe & Viva ditto on your comments and sentiments! I make no appology to anyone for my hypervigillance, once I spot a muslim in my vacinity my neck hairs stand on end! I have been around them from the middle east to Indonesia to the Philippines to the USA. I do whatever it takes to get the hell out of any area I spot them! however, when an explosion or gunfire has taken place in my vacinity, I'm locked and loaded for anyone producing a weapon that will kill me or others. I dont distinguish between men, women, children or any clothing depicting race, religion or ethnic background. My brain just says DANGER, escape, evade or engage as a last resort.
joe mota - What you advocate should also apply to blacks and Hispanics who are gang members or those who have valuable evidence to provide to the authorities when crimes are committed. These are also people who adhere to silence in order to protect their own.
That is an ignorant and biggotted statement. Why should "muslims" do anything. Were they all holding the gun. Would you ask all christians to answer for abortion clinic bombings. Would you ask all hill-billy white trash to anwer for the Oklahoma bombing.
Coming from a bleeding heart lib, not right winger, I must say that human nature is such that it doesn't take too make severe burns to become afraid of fire. I fear gun toting, Bible thumpers, too. Nor is it the fault of the media for reporting news ( it keeps them from reporting stupid stories about Glenn Beck)
Thats about wrong. You people seem to paint all of Islam with one broad brush. There are denominations and degrees of Islam just like there are denominations and degrees of Chrisitanity. How many "good Christians" in America adhere to every last stringent and outdated Christian teaching and commandment? Not many, and in fact, MOST dont. Get over yourself
That's absolutely wrong. I proudly served with many Muslims overseas including in Combat. None harbored any Jihadist sentiments, none. America is all about the freedom to conduct your life in peace and prosperity and chose whatever religion you wish, including NO religion if that's your preference.
Major Hasan obviously harbored Jihadist sentiments and had publicly stated so for at least six months. At some point our own intelligence agencies need to be called on the carpet for failing to act. The fact is he was a deadly exception to the fact most Muslims are peaceful, normal human beings. He gave plenty of warning and yet no one acted. Was it because of Political Correctness? I don't know, but whatever the case we need to review it and start making sure there are no more Major Hasans in our ranks. That may require doing things that go beyond what the leftist multi-culturalists find acceptable but that's to bad. It still doesn't mean that all (or anything close to all) Muslims are bad people.
I have numerous responses about my posts. Some are quite good...Lt. Scrounge reminds me of a line for the movie Soylent Green 'A man who understood nothing until there was nothing to understand.'
Stop giving this murderous terrorist the honor of the rank of major in our armed forces. The very second that he picked up a gun and killed an American soldier, he became a murderer and lost his rank.
Just refer to him as the muslim cowardly terrorist who killed American soldiers.

No, PushME, my posts reflects a lifetime study of the Middle East, it's history, Islam and its history. I would not be a Muslim, either. It's personal restrictions and lack of religious freedom, in my western view, are simply contrary to what would live by. Nonetheless, the Muslims ruled much of the known world, from Moracco to Indonesia for the better part of a thousand years. Much of western civilization actually comes from Islam. The Renaissance and the Enlightenment would not have happened if it were not for Islam. One does not have to agree with the religion to respect it and what it has contributed to humanity. It is too bad that history does not necessarily reflect your narrow prejudices. I for one, was shocked when I began learning these things. It countered everything I had learned all of my life. It is difficult to accept, even today that, Muslims are not crazed, large knife wielding warriors, angrily intolerant of all who differ in the slightest. They had their golden age that certainly faded. The Islamic Culture has had a great deal of difficulty dealing with this. This, along with the minority of terrorist extremist in the religion, has greatly distorted the western world's view of Islam.
You are 100% correct and your detractors obviously do not understand that the Koran urges Muslims to "slay the non-believers, infidels, pagans" wherever they may be...
Of course we agree that most of us cannot ever follow all the teachings of our religious leaders, the difference is that our texts and core values do stress or demand that we kill others
All of us, Christians, Jews, Hindus etc suffer from our own human frailties, but we still seek and strive for a compassionate world and peaceful co-exsistence...Muslims seek a Muslim world...
Quite honestly, the only Muslims who do not engage in Jihad are simply too scared to follow through on the revelations of Mohammed the messenger of Allah !!!
EDD - There are facts, and then, there are facts. If you use the National Enquirer or Cliff Notes as valid sources of knowledge, you are not getting a universal, truthful overview of anything.
Oh, and 2 other facts:
I am an independent thinker and voter without party affiliation
Spell Check and Grammar Check are great tools for those who don't know how to spell, punctuate, or compose sentences. Please consider using them before posting - you'll definitely boost your credibility.
I am so amazed that no one has criticised the military so far. In my country, it is highly unlikely that we will ever send a Muslim military personnel into such confrontational situations. It is extremely disrespectful of a person's religion. Considering that the gunman had actually voiced his views, tried to get out of the situation, the military still insisted on forcing his deployment?
There is nothing to criticize of the military. The man agreed to have the military pay for his medical education, and now he does not want to keep his part of the bargain? He wants out? Did he not know that the military fight wars? He was not stressed out he had never been in combat. No one forced him to join, he should have been a man and not a coward as all terrorist are, great at killing innocent people.Of course Allah made him do it. In fact I think it was political correctness that kept him in the military when he should have been dishonaribly discharged because af his failures as a physician, he could not cut it as a decent human being but did become a great terrorist.
Please tell me who forced this man to join the military. I do believe we have a voluntary force. He knew what is committed was when he joined. He had no taking advantage of all the free education benefits the military gave him. The army is wrong of one thing Political Correctness this man should have been kick out for substanards performance. Nothing justifies him killing his fellow brothers and sisters. He had several options to getting out of his deployment - he could have deserted, refuse a direct order, claim he was going to committ sudicide. All of these options would have led to his release from the military .
Yea, we should definately tip toe around Muslims and make sure we don't offend them in any way. FU** that, your response is exactly the problem in our Country.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but of what country are you a citizen?
Why should the American military be criticized? We don't have a conscripted military. For many years now in America, we have had the choice to enlist or not enlist. There is no criticism to be found in free choice. When he enlisted, Hasan knew that he might have to go to countries that espouse his religion. As a professional psychiatrist, he would not be in the front lines as a "traitor" to his religion and shoot people unless under extreme circumstances. He is a counselor and, most likely, would have had an office.
When one enlists in the military, one doesn't have the option to pick and choose where deployment will be. This is not a Kum-Ba-Yah nursery school. When he enlisted, he swore to protect and defend the United States of America. Oaths of Enlistment: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/oathofenlist.htm
In my opinion, we should wait for more information before knee-jerk reactions that he's a Muslim extremist. Actually, I find it more disturbing that those who accuse Hasan of being radical pose their own brand of radical ideas but think that's OK. Perhaps he is, perhaps he isn't. By the same token, he could also be an extremely mentally unbalanced man who couldn't handle stateside counseling duties and/or his imminent deployment.
Was he harrassed? I can't say yes or no. By the same token, many often claim knowledge about Islam or the Koran, but their "knowledge" comes only from ignorant websites, watered-down Cliff Notes/Spark Notes, or blatant bigotry for anything and anyone who is not exactly like themselves.
*shake head* Your replies are all very logical but it speaks volumes about the handling of the "cultural differences". It does not speak of prudence and smacks of arrogance. To what end? Innocent people are killed because in your arrogance of belief, you think that just because the idiot enlisted, he agreed to everything? It was "fortunate" that he did not have access to military weapons. I shudder to think the amount of damage that could have been done were he an armed personnel. Sure, there are other Muslims in the military who went to fight but the difference is that this guy spoke up and was unheeded. And the military isn't at fault? Because of this so-called "military discipline", how many are dead now? How many could be at risk? What's the point? All in the name of discrimination, discipline or death? Why not take on something new called "respect"?
Innocent people are killed because in your arrogance of belief, you think that just because the idiot enlisted, he agreed to everything?
When you sign a contract or take an oath, the implicit assumption is that you agree with all of its terms.
Also, Hasan was not some barely literate 18 year old who enlisted in the army as a way to escape poverty or see the world while he was young.
He graduated from medical school (which at least means he had above average intelligence), was commissioned as an officer, and was promoted to the rank of Major.
I have no idea what radicalized Maj. Hasan or what triggered the final rampage. Perhaps he'll testify at his trial (at least that will be conducted according to the Uniform Code of Military Justice) and reveal why he snapped. Either way, he's looking at death by a firing squad or hanging.
In the big picture, the military needs to play an active role in monitoring all active duty personnel for signs of mental instability.
This is a ridiculous comment, we do not have a draft/conscription policy. This murderer chose to receive his schooling and his subsequent employment through the military. At the point when he accepted his officer's commission he was bound to honor his obligation to his nation and his superiors, his first duty is to his stripes...not Allah...
He should have never sought a job with the military if he was an anti-US pacifist...
PS: Most veterans, I was accepted to OTS through the AIR Force, actually abhor war, they do not seek it or glorify it...
This BASTARD hasan, needs to be KICKED OUT of the MILITARY,TRIED-AND-CONVICTED, then PUT TO DEATH, all by WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK. Put his ashes in a bar spittoon and I will drive whatever the distance so I can PISS on him!
I love your Wild West, radical interpretation of American Constitutional law. By your interpretation, only "certain" Americans have the right to due process. The rest are guilty and have no right to prove innocence. Hang 'em high!!
the military should run extra background checks on all muslims. f uck liberal political correctness, lives are at stake.
Did you demand extra background checks or were you outraged when now-demoted blind-eye Janis Karpinski, now convicted and dishonorably discharged Spec. Lynndie England, Spec. Charles Graner, along with over a dozen other military members brutally and invasively abused Muslim prisoners at Abu Ghraib, many of whom who were found innocent?
Hasan, as an American, has a right to due process. Your "outrage" is transparent, ignorant bigotry and reeks of a double standard.
It doesn't matter if he is American or not the Due Process needs to be expedited in cases like this. If we milk this it will only send a message that we drag our feet about everything. Maybe the message will get to people if you f-up then you will pay the price. And when caught red handed like this piece of crap we should take immediate action. And it doesn't matter what race or religion you are. If you do this type of crime you DIE!
Theme of the forum: U. S. Muslims fear backlash...
Response: So? Is that a surprise? Ought there not be a backlash? Are these U. S. Muslims themselves turning their militant, disloyal cousins, sons, daughters, brothers, fathers and mothers into the authorities? Do they know who these potential murderers are? And do they know or care about what their duties as loyal Americans are?
The title should've been you can't take this muslim, born in the states, educated in the states, trusted in the states, successful in the states and expect him to change...............
How many of you have worked with someone you know is unstable? The military had to know this man was riddled with problems. You cannot convince me that no one noticed his illness. We've had "postal" killers go completely berserk, killing randomly. Someone usually steps up to say that person was a bit tweeky. The point is it doesn't really matter what affiliation you have with any group, going off the deep end can happen and it happened here. Muslims are not responsible for this horrific event nor are they to be blamed for this debacle. We need to step up to our own individual responsibility and take action when we see something that might be a danger to others and us. It seems a stretch to focus upon something other than the man who fell apart. Peal the labels off and look to the source.
all the bleeding heart liberals are here. eat it when it is revealed this was a infiltration by a terrorist to harm U.S soldiers. Bush kept us safe and your false messiah, propagandist is weakening us. stay safe if you losers can.
Bush kept us safe? Hummmm.....I seem to remember some four thousand Americans dying in Iraq in an unnecessary war, that amounted to a personal vendetta. There is a slow, slog of a war in Afghanistan, the supposed response to the 9-11 Attacks, that allowed Bin-Laden to get away. The domestic needs of the United States were ignored to the point that a great American city was destroyed during a natural disaster, and little or nothing was done to rebuild it.
Don't forget...George Bush has also been President for over a YEAR when 9-11 occured...and he disappeared for 24 hours afterward, afraid they'd target HIM...
Bush harmed this country more than any President in history....'Protected" us? 9-11, Iraq, Katrina.....Thank GOD he can't "protect" us any MORE...I doubt we'd survive it....
Wag are you a sympathizer to this radical muslim that killed our troops in an act of pure cowardice & terrorism?
So because he does not hold your viewpoint he is a sympathizer. Talk about over the top.
Your the typical Obama supporter...A left wing liberal Socialist who is always quick to point out America's faults while ignoring the acts of terror that are committed against Americans.
I love people that throw "ists" around. Democrats are no more socialists than Republicans are fascists.
You liberals wouldn't know what to do with yourselves if you couldn't blame George Bush for every thing that has gone wrong in this country.
This is truly hilarious given that republicans blamed Clinton for 8 years, and some still do. Clearly, the pot calling the kettle black.
Bush did keep us safe during his tenure. Much more so than Obama who goes around the world apologizing to dictators about who we are as a nation.
Bush kept us safe, but at what cost to our personal rights and freedoms. Many republicans didn't like the Patriot Act. I don't know that policies of torture directed at terrorists helped us at all. In fact, I'm glad Obama apologized for that, and we have repealed policies like water boarding. It has only served to increase confidence that the US will do the right thing in the world.
There has already been many planned attacks on this country in just one year while your Saviour has been in office and one of your muslim friends just succeeded.
This is a stretch, there have been planned attacks that have been stopped. So you can make the case that Obama is also keeping us safe. This most recent incident has not been linked to Al Qaeda at all, in fact as more news comes out, it looks like this is an isolated incident (not that it makes it right or any better).
What is it going to take for you brain dead liberals to wake up and get on the side of America which will save this country and keep you and your grandchildren safe?
Well, name calling certainly isn't going to enhance cooperation is it. Liberals are on the side of America, and they are trying to engage the rest of the world in this fight against terror. Involving other countries will enhance our safety.
all the bleeding heart liberals are here. eat it when it is revealed this was a infiltration by a terrorist to harm U.S soldiers.
That's one of the silliest statements I've ever read..."infiltrated by a terrorist to harm US soldiers"???? Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had been in the service (US) since 1995. That must be the slowest "infiltration" in all of history.
Eric, thank you for your defense. I was going to post something at length. The odd thing is this, I actually know George W. Bush. I knew him well before he became President, before he became governor of Texas, when he ran for congress in the 1970s. It was personally painful for me to see his presidency unfold. We had our political differences but I thought he was trying to show that conservatism didn't necessarily mean a lack of humanity, and meanness. It's shame that he will have the legacy that he has. You have also stated what I have said about the 'ist' behind every description of those who oppose the conservative point of view. Anyone who is shouting 'socialist' is not to be taken seriously.
I found Dr. Hasan's alleged actions a horrible shame. It further damaged the view of Islam in this country especially among people with a prejudice against the religion in the first place. I far from sympathize with him.
Most of us that are shocked and disturbed by the slaughter that occured do not have an innate predjudice against Islam or Muslims, what we have is a fear of the violentt ethos that permeates this fascist-hegemony driven theology.
My views are based upon historical analysis and irrefutable imperical data.
I do not, nor will I ever, prejudge any individual but I do realize that there are religious and cultural differences amongst all humans. I am proud to be an American, this does not mean that I defend all of our actions here and abroad, I am proud to be a Hindu but I also realize some of my ilk has committed atrocities...as have Christians, Jews etc but here is the difference between the groups mentioned above and MUSLIMS/ISLAM...
Theologically only their holy scriptures actually demand religious conversions or death...only their texts are void of compassion and what any moral individual would consider a moral imperative...
The other huge differnce between the rest of us and them is that when any moral/democratic nation does engage in a morally or ethically questionable act our process allows for us voice our dissent and therefore demand investigations, apologies and justice...when Muslims commit atrocities they rejoice, never apologize and ultimately blame the victim...
Who can forget the cheering in the Middle East as 3000 Americans died on 9-11, do you recall any outcries from Muslims or Imams, of course not, all Muslims worried about was backlash against them...
Final note: General Casey should be censored if not worse, what a baffoon
Muslims comparing Salik to McVeigh and other home grown terrorists is just a tad disingenious. The only home grown terrorist to kill Americans in the name of his religion was, you guessed it, a Muslim.
Anyone who says Islam is a religion of peace is putting out dis-information, i.e. lying. Nowhere is the bible will you find war being called holy. In Islam it is a single word, jihad.
Muslims comparing Salik to McVeigh and other home grown terrorists is just a tad disingenious. The only home grown terrorist to kill Americans in the name of his religion was, you guessed it, a Muslim.
I didn't know a member of the Islamic faith went into that church in Kansas last June and murdered a physician. Thanks for the enlightenment.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold
Teenagers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold perpetrated one of the most horrible crimes in the last decade, the infamous Columbine High School shooting rampage.
George Metesky George Metesky, also known as The Mad Bomber, planted a bomb in a theatre in 1956, and attributed that to the "Hand of God'.
Even though you added the serial killers Jeffrey Dahmer and 'Son of Sam', you came up with thirteen named criminals. Read that again: 13.
All put together, these criminals, separated in time and space, killed approximately 400 people. None of these killers/wannabe killers knew each other or received boatloads of money from foreign governments to perpetrate their crimes. With each arrest, any threat s/he/they posed was eliminated.
In contrast, nineteen Al-Qaeda terrorists acting in concert launched a suicide attack that killed 3,000 people in a single day. The mastermind of their organization is a billionaire - who has connections with several other billionaires in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
See why a global terrorist network is a much greater threat than Timothy McVeigh or a few violent anti-abortion zealots?
Our society took care of them, like we are going to take care of Hasan...........no favors or special treatment, like before. Osama bin loser your turn is coming.
You can't help people who don't want to help themselves. Time to declare martial law and remove from this country everyone of middle eastern descent. There isn't a single one of them who supports our views on Israel, and they never will. Time to take back the country we bled for over 200 years ago!!
You did not bleed for this country over 200 hundred years ago. Nobody alive today can take credit for that. A person of Middle Eastern descent belongs here just as much as you.
You can't help people who don't want to help themselves. Time to declare martial law and remove from this country everyone of middle eastern descent. There isn't a single one of them who supports our views on Israel, and they never will. Time to take back the country we bled for over 200 years ago!!
It takes alot for the average American to strike out but they are quick to make lifelong judgement on a group of people despite the media and government spin. They are called the silent majority for a reason and will always be a majority. The media, government, troublemakers and liberals make the noise. The masses will form protective prejudices despite the noise.
God, the ignorance and prejudice we start spewing at the slightest excuse...
I never hear how we should kill or deport all radical Christians when some group like The Sword The Cross and The Arm of the Lord or David Koresh commit violent, unbalanced acts...and it's precisely the same thing.
To try to paint all Moslems with the same brush is just ignorant and blind...They differ among themselves as much as we do, and they have both wonderful, well balanced people and total nutjobs just like Christians or Hindus or any other group....
And it's really revealing to see how hard some of these right-wing losers are trying to blame Obama for any of this...I mean...Is that REALLY the best you can do? Can you really find NOTHING valid to criticise him for in comparison to Bush? Because...You SAYING anything that happens is his fault doesn't make it true and it makes YOU look like a petty, pitiful loser that can't accept that no one pays any attention to you and considers you uninformed and deluded.....
Because you WANT something one way doesn't mean you can HAVE it that way....Bet you don't like THAT either, do you? You lost the election...and if you run Sarah Palin or some equally ridiculous glitterati next election, you'll lose THAT one also...
Hardly a "paid blogger"...I have no blog...in fact, I'm a 56-year-old lily-white redneck from Little Rock, Arkansas, born and bred back for generations...
Now that we've established YOUR credibility, what else do you have to say?....You seem to be convinced you can just drag opinions out of your rear and call them "facts"...and THIS is why you are so marginalized.
I am a 72 year old veteran.Live in California, raised in th midwest.Being a conservetive I am not allowed to have an opinion, oh well so much for your freedom I fought for.
Hardly a "paid blogger"...I have no blog...in fact, I'm a 56-year-old lily-white redneck from Little Rock, Arkansas, born and bred back for generations...
You're right when it comes to Hindus. They're pretty dangerous terrorists themselves. They might kill us all with that Yoga stuff.
And how dare those Christian churches who think they can feed the poor. Who do they think they are? We have ACORN, now. We don't need them anymore.
Wasn't it a Muslim that shot two soldiers in Little Rock? And the soldier of the 101st that shot his fellow soldiers at Camp Penn, Kuwait? Let's face the fact that jihad has reached our military units, not only in other countries but at home as well. Yet, all we hear each time is how the other Muslims are in fear of retaliation.
You know, there actually is quite a bit of Hindi anti-other-religion violence in India right now....various incidents have been cropping up in the news pretty regularly.....
Not all of us that disagree with your premise are ignorant or prejudiced...
I consider myself well read on numerous topics, as far as "pre-judging", although I would never venture to guess what any individual Muslim might believe or how far they would go to act upon their feelings, there is ample imperical data based upon interviews and actions that could lead one to come to a concusion that Muslims may be more apt to engage in acts we condiser violent in the defense of a theo-political stance.
Would you dare to disagree with an linguistical/mathematical analysis that would prove that the Koran is far and away the most violent of all holy scriptures.
Can you not see the difference between a evil doer committing acts of viloence due to or in spite of their religion.
Muslims not only have attacked Jews, Christians,Pagans and non-believers, but Mohammed was brutal in his assaults against fellow Muslims of differnt tribes.
Although I wold agree that we have sinners/saints from all walks of life amongst us, please do not let this admission cloud the fact that Muslims are more open to violence, both overtly ad covertly. In the last few days Muslims in the US Military have admitted that their fellow Muslims have lsot respect for them and even shunned them for serving in the military, why would good Muslims who are US citizens turn on fellow Muslims, becaus obviously their allegiance is to religion and a world-wide pan Islam agenda and not to the nation they reside in...please wake up
Why doesn't all the leaders in this religion not only condemn these hardliners, but assist in eliminating them. We have "way out there" Christian fanatics, and everyone, especially Christians condemning them and doing everything possible to make sure they are not a major danger to society. The Muslim don't seem to get it.
The American Muslim Society DID condemn this in no uncertain terms the day it HAPPENED...It was reported right HERE...But none of you right-wing Crusaders want to acknowledge that or admit it...
Read the first article on MSNBC about this tragedy....It had an entire paragraph of condemnation for these acts by Muslims released BY Muslims....
This old "Everyone I hate deserves to die" stuff is exactly what you claim to be condemning...But it's just more skillet calling the kettle black, as far as I can see.
Muslims should fear a "backlash" in the U.S. if you have all the fanatic lunatics associated or the majority coming from "ONE" religious faith, what do you expect?? If this is not Islam and lunatics are using this religion as a rallying point and meetings in the mosques, It is time for the Muslims to take extreme measures to ensure the true "peaceful" ideologies and principles are adhered to within the confines of each congregation world wide or face the consequences for the actions of the few whom have disgraced your faith and religion!!
Dude, just like alot of other ignorant statements on here. You are holding all Muslims accountable. Did we hold all christians accountable for Waco or for all the abortion clininc bombing. I'm sure you do not think you are a biggot. But if you generally wrap people of one religion into a statement like that you are a Bigot.
Muslims don't need to fear backlash, Every race has it's good and bad. It's the Cowardly Bastards like hasan that need to be terminated no matter what your race.
I couldn't agree more...It's not a product of your religion, it's a product of your HATE..and many of US are just as guilty or more so than Muslims....
But, hey, we're White Americans...We CAN'T be wrong.
From the story: While a motive remains unclear, the confirmation of Hasan's faith alone prompted major Muslim groups and mosques to issue statements condemning the killings...
Unfortunate that some among our nativist religious minded among us weren't so quick to condemn last June's murder of a physician in a Kansas church who routinely provided reproductive services to women when no one else would. Unfortunate as well that they aren't as quick to condemn violence against our gay brothers and sisters. If you could have seen the trolls on this blog last night - using the current incident to defend everything from slavery to Nathan Bedford Forrest who was a founder of the KKK - chills would have run up and down your spine. There is, indeed, those of the Islamic faith out to destroy us and they must be dealt with appropriately. So, too, our homegrown variety.
In response to HetNet and Brad Melton. You're never wrong in your own house. An outsider can't come in and say "Well, you did it." You can't justify American racism and slavery. But you can Justify Religious prejudice against the religion that America is currently at war with. America is not at war with a race, skin color, name, or whatever else. We are at war with extreme anti-American Muslim. It doesn't matter how politically correct we try to be. At the end of the day when you're a Muslim and you're asked whose side are you on, You're on the side of your religion. I accept that from jump, so I have no time for the lets be friends until the last possible moment BS. We're not on the same team so how could you expect me to look for the best in you and vise verse.
Dewente, this is like saying that because you're christian (my apologies I don't know your religious preference) then you are as bad as Timothy McVeigh.
Radical Muslim is the problem, however, if you then begin to say that ALL muslims are bad, then we are at a point of discrimination.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin
Yes, I am discriminating. I'll never know whose a "Bad" Muslim and whose not until it too late. So I'm gonna lean towards they're all bad til proven otherwise. And basically they'll have to prove it forever. There will never be a time when I say "Well maybe they aren't all that bad". I'm sure nobody thought Hassan was a Bad muslim until "oh crap he killed 13 people at work today". I'm a black christian navy vet. If I did what he did while I was active duty, a possible motive would never have been "maybe he a Muslim sympathizer that didn't want to go kill other muslims". You don't get the benefit of the doubt when you have ties to the opposing force! I'm cool with the discrimination thing. I have to prove myself everyday, and people prove themselves to me everyday. Its a part of life...you can be but hurt about it. Or you can take it in and deal with it. I help people to easily believe I am a good guy due to the life I live, and how I interact with people. If you're muslim and I'm at war with muslims...the only thing you can really do to ease my worries is denounce muslim. If you're not gonna do that than we'll just keep dancing...I'm not big on the whole "Well yeah they did it, and I'm with them, but I'm not gonna do it too."
Ready for chills up your spine? Then read and watch: http://www.infidelsparadise.com/?p=7141
This is just another opportunity for Muslims to play the "we're the real victims" card.
^+&v..
You guys are ridiculous. Someone should hand out the names and addresses of those who think it's ok to persecute because of religion.
THOSE ARE SPELLED OUT IN THE CONSTITUTION. What the government is doing is not.
If they saw on beheading, it would cure them..............
Time to put our foot down.
In fact fearing such a crack down and vigilance some of the extreme mullahs have started having their Friday sermons at offsite locations for the benefit of the chosen few that adhere to their extreme thinking - in private homes, hotels etc.
and who will judge what is hatred, and what will be done about it? Will it be constitutional?
If muslims perceive themselves as victims in a hostile culture, it begs the question why they just don't leave the United States.
time to deport them all back to their own countries... and converts in this country... shot.
more of the loving muslim religion. kill all nonbelievers. i believe this is the only accepted religion that preaches killing to further their goals. and we are supposed to accept them as friends.
Just an fyi
first of all thats just your fantasy guys that muslims will be forced to leave.
secndly muslims were the first dicoverers of America(s), who came with Chritopher Columbus. Muslim navigators from spain and North Africa(well known for developing the art of sea navigation) were hired by Mr. Columbus to find the way to the new land. Muslims explored the land with Columbus and there signs were found in America(s) (TX,AZ) long before the other Europeans made it to the shores.
And your point is what norsam? We are talking about the muslims here now,not in the 1600's.
norsam
Many Brave muslims have fought for this country since 1600's and more recently in Iraq and afganistan laid down their lives and are ready to fight for their rights also.
http://blog.beliefnet.com/stevenwaldman/2008/10/colin-powells-tribute-to-karee.html
The bigotry and hatred you are spreading against muslims will just make their resolve stronger.
By "resolve", do you mean more cowardly, terroristic acts?......Thanks for the warning, but most of us would not expect any less from the "religion of peace" Islam.
dmee
since 9-11 so many incidents of muslim abuse and bashing threats and also acts of killing have happened in this country but the main news media never reported - because of the bias and hatred against muslims.
By "resolve", not just one but 7 million we mean that more cowardly acts of ridicule, threats, harassment and death threats by the muslim haters in america will surely be resisted by the muslims by fighting for their rights to survive with honor and dignity.
If the Muslim faith does not agree with Yousef al Kattab or Younes Abdullah Mohammed then why do I not see any leader in the Mosque come outside and tell them they are wrong and misdirected?????
peach
here is for your information
http://muslimmedianetwork.com/mmn/?tag=christopher-columbus
Muslims Discovered America with C. Columbus- and today they are ridicled in their own by Islam hater like all here and blame the mentally sick man's problem now on all 7+ million muslims and make them a target of hatred. Why ?
To All Liberal Apologists:
Wake up people, these are not isolated incidents
Vinnie
That's nothing to brag about...........how's it working out? They were, they are the bun-hole-lio of the world.
Aren't you full of hate ? Yes you and we all see it clearly
norsam, Thank you for supplying this information, although, from the response you've been getting it doesn't look as if it is well received.
And you... are in violation of the COH.
Many of the muslims are applauding what this man did.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,572998,00.html
The media should be to blame for the backlash, If it happens! Just report as you see it, But we have to mention Muslim and report in front of mosque's. This gives the audience ideas! He was a soldier who flipped out, And many have.
No, this gives the ignorant right-wingers ideas.
I think it's time we start a movement against MISinformation and the press too, not just a War on Terror.
BLS, seriously, are you sure it isn't BS??
I don't know if any of this made sense, but my bottom line about your statement, the most idiotic thing I have ever heard come out of Keith Doberman or Rachel Madcow's mouthes.
franksam-941433
For Franksam,
Here are some statistics regarding attacks on muslims since 9/11:
An increase could be seen in all categories except that of robbery.
http://www.humanrightsfirst.org/discrimination/reports.aspx?s=muslims&p=officialstats
this was a tragedy for sure and my condolences to the loved one and friends left behind!
that said, this country that we live in was founded on religious freedom! come on please do NOT lump all Muslims together as terrorists nor Catholics as child molesters, etc. most of what i am reading here is childish, bullying behavior!
every place that is inhabited on this earth has a certain part of the population that will cause problems or kill someone! ok maybe not the south pole but everywhere else that is populated! overall, the USA is a pretty mellow place to live.
I haven't seen any Baptists blow themselves up in a nightclub lately shouting Jesus' name.
Dewintre
"I haven't seen any Baptists blow themselves up in a nightclub lately shouting Jesus' name."
No but the Baptists sure liked raping little Indian kids!
Ignorance is one of our greatest enemies.
U.S. Muslims should be help the US and the allies. To put end this war or else history will repeat itself.
dewintre200 wrote....I haven't seen any Baptists blow themselves up in a nightclub lately shouting Jesus' name.
No they just blow up and kill with guns people that don't walk, talk, lie, have sex with anything that walks, "all in the name of jesus" I laugh everytime listening to the BS of the sooo all christians.
Dave
No...he was a muslim terrorist who raved and ranted about the US on the internet and who finally decided to kill Americans.
Don't attempt to sugarcoat this tragedy. It just makes Americans angrier.
And we all know from which direction the backlash will come from...
Hint: The ignorant right.
Americans???????
All the ignorant right people had better watch their back when BLS, the sane one, is around!
Seattle was 10 years ago, tina (as in a PROTEST that turned into a riot. there is no such thing as a good riot).
maybe a backlash would be a good thing.
Gee are these all muslims? Most likely all white. What about what has happened at Fort Bragg, and other bases where folks are being murdered? Should I consider this acts of terrorism? I will now since I know for a fact that most folks who kill folks = terrorism.
valhallaarwen
defending this muslim monster is only going to make Americans angrier and the inevitable backlash much more serious.
I see an Arab and walk the other way..............that's my freedom to do so.
You're right, Radical Christians don't do things like car bombings and suicide bombings. Instead they do atom bombs, carpet bombs, drone attacks, invasion, occupation, all of which result in a permanent psychological scar in the region and hundreds of thousands of ruined lives.
You know, stuff like that...
radical Christians practically exterminated native Americans, they murdered and tortured their way throught the crusades.....in our time George W "talks with God" Bush invaded Iraq in a misguided effort to bestow American Christian values upon the little brown people.
Yup, those crusades were all peace and love ... keep thinking that Christians have some special claim to nonviolence. They don't.
Yeah, but I'm not going to carry guilt over some thing that I didn't do myself.
Yeah, but I'm not going to carry guilt over some thing that I didn't do myself.
viva - but you will blanketly blame all Arabs/Muslims for the actions of a few?
Viva - And you know they are Arab how? Be careful with your answer.
I am not going near the look..........that's enough for me. I'm not going to apologize for that feeling, just like they are not going to apologize for me looking like an infidel..............just walk away. I don't have to be in their space. I don't have to be careful how I answer.........
From an article on radical christians:
In the 20th century alone, Western and/or Christian powers have been responsible for at least twenty times more deaths than have Muslim powers. In this most brutal of centuries, we created incomparably more civilian casualties than have Muslims in the whole of Islamic history. This continues even in our day—witness the slaughter of 900,000 Rwandans in 1994 in a population that was over 90 % Christian; or the genocide of over 300,000 Muslims and systematic rape of over 100,000 Muslim women by Christian Serbs in Bosnia between 1992 and 1995. The horrible truth is that, numerically and statistically speaking, Christian Civilization is the bloodiest and most violent of all civilizations in all of history, and is responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths.
http://www.islam101.com/terror/mythViolence.htm
Who stopped all those atrocities (with the sad exception of Rhwanda) in the 20th century Eric?? Why that would be the armies of Christian nations.
I am not going near the look..........that's enough for me.
I take that to mean that you prefer "the look" of Emperor Alexius Comnenus and Pope Urban II, King George III, Mao, Hitler, and Stalin. Interesting!
Fred G, that maybe true, although we could argue whether the US is a "christian" nation. Especially since there is supposed to be freedom of religion in American.
However, radical Christians have caused quite a bit of damage in their time.
No, the look of someone living or trying to get in my face with their issues.
Hey Justmythoughts,
You are extremely ignorant.
Thank you Lt Scrounge, I couldn't have said it any better!
I also blame the media
And here I present to you "Exhibit A".
The Americans I know would NEVER turn their back on other innocent Americans simply because they worship differently than they do.
caleb2005
What did we learn from the japanese internment camps?
Brad Melton- First, thank you for serving our country and protecting America. Second, you do realize that very often, some of us are trying to speak rationally with the irrational? (As an aside, you and I have disagreed in the past, but there's always a polite way to do so. Thanks again for that!)
Apparently, not much :(
"I would say it’s about time we start putting Muslims in camps away from society..."
caleb2005, had you been a German citizen then, you would have surely been amongst those who wanted to "do away" with the Jews.
I thought the last Nazi died last month but here you are alive and well. Somebody please invent a time machine so we can send this boob back to Nazi Germany
Lt Scrounge
Add to your list of denials the following
These are also people who adhere to silence in order to protect their own.
joe mota
American muslims need to do a lot more than express outrage.... they need to start co-operating with investigators
Who says they aren't? You also think Hispanic Americans ought to rat out their kin here illegally? I do.
I would..........cause they ain't my kin.
Joe Mota,
That is an ignorant and biggotted statement. Why should "muslims" do anything. Were they all holding the gun. Would you ask all christians to answer for abortion clinic bombings. Would you ask all hill-billy white trash to anwer for the Oklahoma bombing.
hill billy white trash.............any other intelligent comments?????
Sorry Mrs. McVeigh
It is not enough to just praise the contibutions of their brothers in the forces, what about others are they not good enough.
This is the bottom line with Islam . One has to be a bad Muslim to be a good American and a bad American to be a good Muslim.
That's about right............
Memo......we don't live in a Muslim country and we try to keep politics and religion separate.
VIVA 796465 Tell that to the Islamists.
OK!!!!!
Viva, we live in a country with over 7 million Muslims. We are a nation of diversity including religious diversity.
That's absolutely wrong. I proudly served with many Muslims overseas including in Combat. None harbored any Jihadist sentiments, none. America is all about the freedom to conduct your life in peace and prosperity and chose whatever religion you wish, including NO religion if that's your preference.
Did Hasan habor any? When did he get warped?
I think he had them before the six months.........
This is the bottom line with Islam . One has to be a bad Muslim to be a good American and a bad American to be a good Muslim.
I am in total disbelief that someone can be so narrow-minded, simplistic, and ill-read.
I have numerous responses about my posts. Some are quite good...Lt. Scrounge reminds me of a line for the movie Soylent Green 'A man who understood nothing until there was nothing to understand.'
Fred G

To kill an infidel is not a sin,it is the pathway to heaven. You @!$%#ing idiot LIBERALS want to imbrace this?
Sure as hell won't EMBRACE your hatred, Mr. Edd.
Not hatred, just FACT. I don't buy your peace loving @!$%#, LIER
and you are such a good human being, I can just tell.......you might benefit from counseling.
I will bet you want me to get counseling from Hasan
No Mr. Edd, a veterinarian might be better.
Mr. Ed didn't kill anyone.
Holy crap, intersting jump form you spewing such anger. Scary.
Holy crap, intersting jump form you spewing such anger. Scary.
Who gave that talking jack azz permission to open his pie hole anyway?
EDD - There are facts, and then, there are facts. If you use the National Enquirer or Cliff Notes as valid sources of knowledge, you are not getting a universal, truthful overview of anything.
Oh, and 2 other facts:
I am so amazed that no one has criticised the military so far. In my country, it is highly unlikely that we will ever send a Muslim military personnel into such confrontational situations. It is extremely disrespectful of a person's religion. Considering that the gunman had actually voiced his views, tried to get out of the situation, the military still insisted on forcing his deployment?
Unbelieveable.
He enjoyed playing both sides........American apple pie benefits and a big slice of Muslim cake on the side...........what a loser.
VeryDisgusted said: I am so amazed that no one has criticised the military so far.
Put his ashes in a bar spittoon and I will drive whatever the distance so I can PISS on him!
the military should run extra background checks on all muslims. f uck liberal political correctness, lives are at stake.
Cut his nuts out, wrap him in a pig skin, and put him on desplay.

Is that a Muslim thing to do????????

NJ,
It doesn't matter if he is American or not the Due Process needs to be expedited in cases like this.
He tried to get out after he got all the benefits.......religion and military don't mix well.
9-11, Iraq, Katrina.....Thank GOD he can't "protect" us any MORE...I doubt we'd survive it....
charles turner
all the bleeding heart liberals are here. eat it when it is revealed this was a infiltration by a terrorist to harm U.S soldiers. Bush kept us safe
Before or after 9/11?
Liberalismisamentaldisorder,
Wag are you a sympathizer to this radical muslim that killed our troops in an act of pure cowardice & terrorism?
That's one of the silliest statements I've ever read..."infiltrated by a terrorist to harm US soldiers"???? Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had been in the service (US) since 1995. That must be the slowest "infiltration" in all of history.
Hasan offered to pay the military back for his medical education. You can search for it on www.northjersey.com
I guess he paid them back his way.............
For the apologist;
I'm with Ted Nugent, when he sais,"I want dead offenders not repeat offenders"
Muslims comparing Salik to McVeigh and other home grown terrorists is just a tad disingenious. The only home grown terrorist to kill Americans in the name of his religion was, you guessed it, a Muslim.
Anyone who says Islam is a religion of peace is putting out dis-information, i.e. lying. Nowhere is the bible will you find war being called holy. In Islam it is a single word, jihad.
Try - Exodus 17:16, Deuteronomy 25:19 or Joshua 10:40. More sections can be provided.
irate Ken

I didn't know a member of the Islamic faith went into that church in Kansas last June and murdered a physician. Thanks for the enlightenment.
Home grown terrorists from the US:
Timothy McVeigh
Timothy McVeigh is the right wing Christian who bombed the FBI Building in Oklahoma City. Here is a mug shot of McVeigh.
The Unabomber
Ted Kaczynski - The Unabomber
Clayton Waagner
Clayton Waagner - Anti Abortion Terrorism
Eric Rudolph
Eric Rudolph is another anti-abortion terrorist, who recently pleaded guilty for bombing the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
Robert Goldstein
Dr. Robert Goldstein, is a Jewish podiatrist. He plotted to bomb Islamic mosques, Islamic centers and Islamic schools with his wife.
William Krar and Judith Bruey
William Krar planned to use cyanide to poison thousands of people. He was dubbed The American Taliban afterhis arrest.
Army of God
The Army of God encourages killing doctors and nurses providing abortion, and burning their clinics. For example, check what Chuck Spingola, said on the Army of God web site.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold
Teenagers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold perpetrated one of the most horrible crimes in the last decade, the infamous Columbine High School shooting rampage.
George Metesky
George Metesky, also known as The Mad Bomber, planted a bomb in a theatre in 1956, and attributed that to the "Hand of God'.
David Berkovitz
David Berkowitz, also known as Son of Sam, was a serial killer. More on him in this article.
Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer a serial killer and cannibal.
Add Bill Ayers.........leader of the weatherman, still free and teaching his BS at the universtiy level. That's real freedom.
Eric, I'm actually glad you compiled that list.
Yeah, and you belong in his country too..........life is good there.

Including slavery as well?
Muslim in the White House.........gotta love it.
Obama is a christian.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/281/
Did I say Obama? Sorry, you misunderstood. Yet, it is easy to claim to be one thing and be another, in DC.
What does a cross burned in the front yard mean?
What nationality and religion was the shooter in Florida yesterday?
Not Muslim...............apples and oranges.Just white people????????
stereo typing........but he's an idiot too!!!! He didn't sign up to defend this country, that's the difference.
So we can have people snap in the general population, but not in the military! That is an interesting concept.
It takes alot for the average American to strike out but they are quick to make lifelong judgement on a group of people despite the media and government spin. They are called the silent majority for a reason and will always be a majority. The media, government, troublemakers and liberals make the noise. The masses will form protective prejudices despite the noise.
Just so they don't form posse's as well.
You lost the election...and if you run Sarah Palin or some equally ridiculous glitterati next election, you'll lose THAT one also...
going a little off topic..............
#22 payed blogger
Hardly a "paid blogger"...I have no blog...in fact, I'm a 56-year-old lily-white redneck from Little Rock, Arkansas, born and bred back for generations...
Now that we've established YOUR credibility, what else do you have to say?....You seem to be convinced you can just drag opinions out of your rear and call them "facts"...and THIS is why you are so marginalized.
I am a 72 year old veteran.Live in California, raised in th midwest.Being a conservetive I am not allowed to have an opinion, oh well so much for your freedom I fought for.
HetNet
Hardly a "paid blogger"...I have no blog...in fact, I'm a 56-year-old lily-white redneck from Little Rock, Arkansas, born and bred back for generations...
My condolences.
I'll gladly accept them, haha....
HetNet
Not even if they are born and raised here............
Thank you HetNet. Keep yelling at these morons :).
And you Newsvine, why don't you take hasan's smiling face of the web and get one of him in pain to post.
You're right, Hetnet, I would guarantee that the most hostile of comments written here are written by people with their own anger management issues.
broad brush..........hmmm
But claiming that ALL Muslims are evil isn't?
Hypocrite.
Freedom of I don't like them............
Decent post.
