What else is new? I heard this story for over 10 years now. The border agents close off the tunnels, the drug cartels make new ones. It is nothing but a vicious cycle. It will never end unless we take Mexico itself.

I'm so sick of these stories, illegal drugs will never be stopped. The media is so biased on this topic especially the topic of legalization of marijuana. They try to sensationalise the story by showing the cops at work,and the DEA who cares.Let marijuana be legal tax it and let law enforcement fight the heavier drugs.If we legalize marijuana these cartels will no longer pose a threat to this country.Lets see how long this story lasts on this web page since every time they report about legalization of weed the story seems to disappear rather quickly.

This drug industry reveales a few problems:

First in this economy the drug abusers are willing to cough up much needed cash to support their habit. A lot of that cash maybe tax paid SS money or unemployment cash etc.

Second this reminds me of what the British Empire tried to do to China to gain commercial dominance on that nation. She grew opium in India and addicted the Chinese all the way up to the royalty. They would have won over a drugged out population, if not for the Boxer rebellion.

Thirdly the ingenious ways that the current drug cartel basically run by Mexicans can also be used in an uprising or to support the other cause of "La Raza". If the drug smugglers can enter the US no matter how we try to thwart them then they are developing the seed elements of guerrila warfare and we are not recognizing a military in the making.

If you want to quell the flow of illegal drugs and keep from supporting the bad guys, you need to look at history. We had prohibition and with it, lots of guns and crime, tax evasion, etc.

If you want to take the glamour away from drugs, you must first take the money. Take the money and what is the attraction? How do you take the money? Legalize the stuff. There are no walls tall enough, no fences high enough, and no glass bubbles strong enough to prevent the flow of drugs/money into the US.

Require federal consensus on age allowance to purchase drugs. 18-21 with ID that has Social Security #, Thumb Print, Picture, and current address. Require renewal every year.

When you purchase drugs, (any drugs, heroin, pot, pills, all of it) require presentation of the ID and swipe it through a electronic terminal much like a credit card machine. The data is downloaded at the end of the night and cross referenced with all licensing agencies, Pilot license, Subway Operators, Train Operators, Truck Drivers, teachers, etc. It also cross references all on indigent programs. This includes all welfare, student loan, student aide, Pell Grant, College assistance, housing, food stamps, unemployment, Medicaid/medicare, and any other government assistance. Social Security should not be considered if you worked for it and earned it.

Now, with each nightly download, the data is matched with people receiving benefits because they claim they can't afford their needs> If you have matched to any of the programs or licensing programs, you are immediately suspended. To reapply for the license you must complete 180 days of Drug Therapy, (paid for via taxes captured in the sale). Once you have completed the therapy, you may reapply for the license and submit to drug testing every 30 days for 6 months and then every 6 months thereafter if you are allowed back into the field you are required to be licensed in. If you were receiving any government aide, you must complete the same therapy and be subject to the same drug testing. On the poppy plants and opium derivatives from Afghanistan and other areas, buy the crop directly from the farmer to alleviate the middle man, ie: the Taliban, Al Quedaetc. We need the opiates for pain management and there is no cheaper way to impact the income of the bad guys.

For the stores that will sell this new tax source, place the licensing into the public sector and operation into private hands, much like the liquor store and beer store. Tax it to no end and stop spending money on intervention.

Let the insurance industry purchase the same information that goes to all of the licensing agencies and government assistance offices. Let Companies have access to these files in the process of new hire or HR management.

The problem is many fold. As long as the American people insist upon buying drugs, there will be suppliers. As long as there are huge profits to be made, lawmen will be paid off. The criminal mind finds a way. The best solution is to close off the northern and southern borders. This will reduce illegal immigration, drug smuggling and terrorists from entering the country. Why bother? legalize drugs, let the druggies do their thing, and die of overdoses. Let the drug dealers kill each other. We can't stop crime, the record shows is. If someone wants drugs, they will get them somehow. Stop wasting our tax money on jailing drug dealers. If they legalize and tax drugs, someone will find a way to not pay taxes on them and that will give the IRS something worthwhile to do pursuing the drug-tax evaders. Let the drug users live out their short lives unbothered , but legalize vigilante groups to eliminate those who commit crimes against non-drug users. Then spend our tax money helping and protecting law abiding CITIZENS.

The only way it will end is to make sentences mandatory even for first time users or dealers. Make the risk outwiegh the reward. Under the current system people are willing to take the risk because the laws are so lax.
