So you're complaining that he is wasting our tax dollars, but you want to jail him for 10 years? my mother did it. after being in this country for 25 years, with a green card. that means she payed her taxes and obeyed the laws like an American citizen. it's not that hard. it's called laziness, and not wanting to pay taxes, that keeps all the illegals from becoming citizens.

My comment. You want to make the Illegal Immigrants legal. Simple use the shortcut. Bring all US Military back to the US. Place them under the Command, Control, Coordination, Communications (C4) of US NORTHCOM. Use the revised Insurrection Act, in that the States, cannot enforce the Federal Immigration Laws by themselves (proven incapable). Three forces, one to secure the Northern US Border, larger one to secure the Southern US Border, the largest Force sweeps from North East to South West and rounds up all Illegal Immigrants.

These Illegal Immigrants are given a choice go back to their Country and fix their own Countries problems and not bring their problems to the US. OR join the US Military for six years to become US Citizens (like their peers currently in the US Military) and sent (overseas, not US) to War (no cush jobs in US), if they "washout" or are discharged before completion of the sixth year, they are immediately sent back to their non US Country of Origin.

Legal International precedent: Other countries already do this and also manditory Military Conscription for all residents to earn their Citizenship

This is a hint for all of those who still believe in Obama's Hope and Change.

To those such as "microsoft sucks" who think illegals don't get welfare, food stamps, wic, tanf and other monies that come from taxpayer dollars you should know that although the illegals are technically not allowed to recieve these benefits there is a catch 22 involved. The agencies that dole out our tax dollars are not allowed to inquire about their immigrant status. These agencies are not provided any system to check social security numbers to verify a persons status, so if they have stolen a number and are using it no one checks to make sure it belongs to them. Ask the state of california how many people are illegals and are sucking the state dry via welfare etc.

Secondly it seems to me that he should find a group of liberal left wingers to foot his bill to go home. I am quite sure in 13 years of living here illegally he has sucked up enough of our tax dollars. I say he goes home on a bus not a plane. Why should he get upgraded travel when many LEGAL residents are out of work and couldn't hope to travel anywhere on a plane.

I have some friends who are here with their documents and these guys really piss them off - cheating and cutting the corners just because they have a sob story. American Father, I strongly (and I mean STRONGLY) appreciate that you posted a dissenting opinion without namecalling. The overall statements that I'm making are more generalized toward "illegal" immigrants in general, but I do believe that we have a complex situation here.

While stealing an identity is wrong, we don't have much information. What could be said if he stole an identity to gain employment and, as a result, paid taxes and legitimately supported the system without damaging that identity? No, of course that would not make it OK... I would never suggest that. However, if that was the only way he could truly gain real employment and contribute positively to society, and that's what happened, then perhaps he felt that the ends justified the means. Since we've decided to make the American Dream illegal to "outsiders," perhaps this was a form of protest against that system.

There a quite a few things that are most likely quite incriminating about this particular case. However, we still need to step back and realize that "stole an identity" does not necessarily mean "stole an identity, ran up debts, collected welfare, and abused the system." When you think about it subjectively, there's a possibility that maybe he really was trying to integrate and contribute. I only wish we could know all the facts.

Better yet, ship him UPS, it will either be late arriving or lost altogether!

I don't care if he used the 'stolen identity' to get work. It does not matter if he paid taxes or not he stole someones identity and used it without permission. He would have used it to get housing, turn on his electric and other utilities. Which in turn lowers the FICO score of the real social security number holder. Hey freedom-Our laws decide who lives here END OF STORY. Mexican, Guatemalan,Indian, British etc. those countries laws decide who lives there. Guess what You would not be allowed to enter Mexico and just live there. Unless you invest 10 times what the Mexican government claims is the average yearly earnings in the country you would not be allowed to stay. On top of that even if you were allowed to stay you would NEVER be allowed to receive ANY government assistance of any kind because you were not BORN in Mexico. You would NEVER be allowed to protest against the government in any way or you would be deported. By the way the Mexican southern border with Honduras is guarded by the Mexican military with orders to shoot to kill anyone crossing the border(the reason is hondurans work cheaper and the Mexican government itself said that 'the cheap labor would ruin the Mexican economy'-a little ironic don't you think since they want us to just let there citizens in here no questions). If you don't think they cost anything try finding a hospital in some of the rural areas near the texas, new mexico and arizona border. More than 60 had to close their doors because they were drowned in debt because the illegals use them and never pay. The ones to suffer here are those living in those areas legally who must now travel more than 100 miles for medical care. Try checking the state of Californias books much of the debt is due to monies paid out to illegals in benefits such as food stamps, welfare, tanf and wic not to mention the cost of educating their illegal children and teaching them english.

To me, I don't think of things in the theory of most modern laws as most modern laws overstep Constitutional boundaries and tighten the noose on what was once America. Illegal immigrants in and of themselves are in an odd category. In the documents of the Founding Fathers (themselves immigrants, prior to any laws concerning it), it was determined that we were to be the light on the hill... not just a haven for all the people who yearned to be free, but a lesson to the leaders of countries which were scared to provide the same freedom to their people. To me (and this is a mere opinion), it seems that we've gone from the light on the hill to the troll who guards the bridge.

There are laws preventing peaceful assembly and protest without a prior approval of gathering place, route, and properly filed permit. The First Amendment guarantees the rights of peaceful assembly and protest, yet some modern laws violate the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and we allow that to stand. Protests do not require a permit, yet we allow people to be jailed for "assembling without a permit." Sometimes the modern laws violate the spirit of America.

Like it or not, laws that make people "illegal" violate the founding principles of this country. While stealing an identity was illegal, it may have been the wrong act but with the right intentions. More than 100 years ago my ancestors came from Italy......legally they stood in line(figuratively and literally) and waited their turn and came here by obeying our laws, learning english and didn't look for a hand out. They didn't complain about this country, they were thankful to be here. They didn't picket and march against it complaining that they were required to come here legally and pay for themselves. They learned english and didn't expect someone else to pay for it, teach them or put signs and forms in italian. They kissed the ground for the chance to be here. It is now just the opposite they think they should get to come here illegally, get taxpayers money to foot the bill for them either learning english or having everything written in the language they want(mostly spanish). They think they are owed that and somehow we are the ones that owe them. They are NOT grateful they complain that they aren't handed freebies, money, food stamps, cheap housing etc. They have their children who are also illegal or anchor babies miss school to picket about our immigration laws which they have zero rights to do(salem oregon in 2006-I watchedd them waving the Mexican flag picketting against the US demanding they had the same rights as those here legally as residents and US citizens. Lastly our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution and Bill of rights are written in English. Our national anthem was also written in english yet the hispanic illegals think that it is acceptable to not only sing in in spanish but not even translate it correctly. Do we sing the Mexican national anthem in english, no, we don't sing the Ukranian, Russian, French, Lithuanian or any other countries national anthem in any language other than the language it was written in and the country it was written for. It is inherently disrespectful to assume that it is acceptable. We put all types of governmental paperwork in spanish and worse yet they expect voting ballots should as well be in Spanish. Just a note to be able to vote it is required that you be a citizen of this country and to become a citizen you are supposed to be required to read and speak english. If they have passed this there is zero reason for any election materials to be in spanish. Arizona has gotten it right and the rest of the US needs to follow suit and make english the official language period.

I have no problem with immigration and neither did our founding fathers but come here legally. It was a decidedly different world 200 plus years ago...whether we like it or not there are more people in a 'smaller' world it no longer takes 6 months to sail across the atlantic. People no longer only live to only 45 with only a 50 % childbirth survival rate and America is no longer a vastly uncharted country it is fully populated unlike 200 years ago.

We have rules/laws for a reason and if they are not respected and we do not demand they be respected we as a people and a country lose all respect. The fact that our government will not enforce our laws and in many ways finds ways to continue to allow illegals to skirt them(such as the law that state agencies like welfare can't inquire about legal status-hospitals can't either yet they must provide services for which they know they will not get paid and are not allowed to write off(this I know I work in hospital billing)). If we don't enforce the laws and don't require our politicians to enforce them what kind of respect does the rest of the world show to us and our laws and that means any of them. The laws are on the books it is illegal to come here without paperwork, it is illegal to stay here, it is illegal to gain employment, get housing etc without legally being here. Identity theft no matter the reason(using the ss to get a job) is still illegal. The penalties are clear and on the books. All immigrants, BOTH legal and undocumented, contribute more than 10 billion dollars to the economy of the US according to the National Academy of Sciences. This is a surplus EVEN AFTER YOU DEDUCT ALL THE EXPENSES ON HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, ETC. After subtracting all of the money the government does spend on helping illegal immigrants with healthcare, schooling, and other services, (i'm not saying they don't) it is still a SURPLUS. The U.S. is making money off of them like you wouldn't believe. Think of all the stuff you buy day to day, such as groceries and other daily necessities, multiply that by 12 million+ undocumented, and thats a lot of money! A one-way ticket out would cost roughly $300 or so? It is actually pretty simple. Take stuff away from this guy until you are sure that you will recover your $300. Is he wearing clothes (he can keep the underwear and socks - it is pretty warm in Guatemala)? Take them away and wrap him in an airline blanket until he gets home. Does he have a car? The scrap metal alone is worth more than $300. Go to his home, take any furniture that he had. Take away his children's toys. Eventually you will have enough to get back that $300 ticket. Volunteers from Goodwill or another organization could handle the repossession. Just get him out if he doesn't want to be here - and never let him back in.

I spent time in Guatemala.  A lot of the people there have very little.  Bathing and laundry are done in the river.  Young girls carry water jugs (For Drinking) on their heads from a truck that comes though twice a week.  I'm against illegal immigration.  Do the math.  He came here at age 16.  If this were my child I'm sure I would feel differently.

One thing we can do, put a chip in him. That way we can watch him and know when he is back into the country. Hell, we do it with dogs and cats and wild animals in the jungles and plains.

I think that would be the way to go. When an illegal alien is found, we put them to sleep and put a chip in them and then send them back home with a stern warning. "If you come back across the United States border illegally, you will be hunted down and put in prison doing hard labor!!"

And when caught, put them on the border building the walls and burying those who don't make it to safety. I think after seeing a few of his illegal comrades die from the trip, it might make him think about coming back here.

Of course then they will just go to some doctor and have the "chip" removed before they come back across the border.

Face facts, with the way technology is moving I don't think it will be long before someone suggests that U.S. citizens get "chipped" as proof positive that they are indeed citizens and are entitled to the benefits this country provides.

I do know that military ID's and I think now "dog tags" have a "data chip" embedded into them that carries a soldiers records and stuff like that.
