Bloody clothes found hidden above the ceiling tiles, an incinerator inside the lab building, and no photographic evidence of her departure from the lab-doesn't look like there will be a good outcome. However, the upside is that they have photos of everyone entering and departing the building the day of her disappearance, that should certainly aid the investigation. Sounds similar to the recent disappearance of the cleaning woman in the NY office tower, where the building's janitor has been charged with her murder after finding her body stuffed up above the ceiling tiles.

Water....New Haven is actually a great town....and no different than any other....I went to college in New Haven and downtown is really geared towards Yale....Although, I and a lot of my fellow college buddies continually joked about Yalies while in college, I dont' believe the Univ should be held accountable...You can't protect everyone, sorry to say...I think it's presumptive to point the finger of blame before getting all the fact and the fact is that they city and Univ have been very tight lipped about this and can only think they are trying to put a case together...very carefully..in order to ensure the person that is found as the culprit, is found guilty, without any doubt in anyone's mind...

However, while I think Yale's unofficial "policy" of quieting such complaints, has nothing to do with this case, since there's no date with another guy, and the location is in a lab, the woman had knoledge and access to everything needed to commit suicide and she was both in a beginning of an academic year, which is always a stressful time, PLUS was about to get married.

To be, it sounds like she cracked under the pressure and decided to kill herself. That is, assuming the fiance hadn't done it (NYC and New Haven are very close- just a matter of an hour, and hour and a half drive.

So I would check her cell phone and his phone records- to see if they talked to meet up, and he might have visited her there.

But other than that, it's sounds like another case of an Asian woman who pushed herself too hard and decided to take her own life.

I was only speculating based on the things we know so far.

Because of the surveillance equipment, it will be very difficult for the perpetrator to keep from being apprehended. Lie detectors should be mandatory for all employees who work at the lab building. That would really be an extreme way for someone to commit suicide, however, nothing can be ruled out this early in an investigation.

Remember the cleaning lady who disappeared just a couple months ago in a New York office tower, and was later found stuffed above the ceiling tiles in one of the offices, I believe the janitor was charged with the crime. A truly bizarre and sad ending for this promising young woman's life.

It has to be someone who knows the layout and the security systems of the buildings , because it took the police about a week to find her in that small area. It is a sad and terrible ending for this young and promising woman's life.

If the cops focused less on whether this girl might be a runaway bride and more on who had access to that research building, they would have found her body sooner. Hiding bloody clothes and her body in ceilings and walls would lead one to believe that the assailant was in construction - a person with temporary access and no background check. Was the building under renovations? A woman was murdered in a New York building a year or so ago by a construction worker who would not have typically had access to the premises. For runaway brides, if that is how it turns out (not applicable in this case), they should be charged for every red cent spent by public services on locating their neurotic a22es and judgment liens filed against them if they don't pay the bill. Other young women who were clearly not neurotic or attention seekers should not be tarred with the same brush and precious time wasted in pursuing their killers.

Am I the only one wondering at the conjunction of the comments that she was found "stuffed into a wall" in a "high security campus building"? Maybe it's some lingering addiction to logic, but anyplace where someone can murder you, disrobe you, hide your bloody clothes in a ceiling, and find both time and opportunity to somehow stick your body in a wall, all while evading detection for at least a week is NOT, precisely speaking and to my mind, "high security"... "Restricted access"? Yeah, okay, I can buy that, but "high security"? Hoo-boy, that is stretching the concept.

Unfortunately, that coinage was probably concocted by Yale. Colleges are regular hot beds of crime where parents unwittingly send some of their most vulnerable children, most on their own for the first time, to be preyed upon. Most colleges also go out of their way to deny that fact and it is not uncommon for both town and gown to work, hand in hand, to hide, from anxious parents, the extent of crime on campus. It was that way 40 years ago when I was in school. The university had built some high rise dorms (mostly housing freshmen, since nobody else wanted to occupy them) overlooking the river and separated from the main campus by a huge field and a large complex of tennis courts. Those tennis courts quickly became "rape central", the equivalent, for female students, of wildebeasts crossing a crocodile infested river on the plains of the Serengeti. Yet the university went out of its way to hide that fact until it got so bad (at least 34 reported rapes in a single month and 18 in one week) that it couldn't be ignored and even then they tried to underplay the danger, lest they have to spend money on security or write off their big, new, expensive dorms. The only thing that has changed since then is that crime has gone up, the economic stakes have gone up, and college administrators have gotten even more practiced and determined in denying and hiding crime on campus.

So, I guess I'm wondering how, ultimately, Yale is going to explain the failure of their "high security" facilities to protect Ms. Le and I'm wondering how many other students are working alone, late at night, in mostly empty buildings, under the illusion that the college's "high security" systems are guarding their backs.

I attended The University of Iowa back in the early 80's. As an older student, male, trying to better myself, I was UNWANTED by some of the elitist scum. The older student at Iowa had not quite made their presence in 1980, so finding someone to identify with me became somewhat problematic to the ever present sociologists. It's quite amazing how these people try their best to get all the birds of a feather flying together and not separate the classes. Actually, I think that they are more concerned with class jumping.

At any rate, trying to better myself, I attended summer sessions as well as the regular terms during the traditional school year. During the summer, a student like myself with little extra money can sublet a fairly nice apt. One place was on S. Johnson St., the scene of wall-to-wall parties during the summer. I moved into a 5 BR with 3 former football players, now law students, and one guy who had just gotten out of prison (had 5-DUI's). One of the law students had a live-in 19-yr old girl friend, a hottie from a well-to-do family and who was not a student but worked at one of THEIR massage parlors, giving hand-jobs. Kids from well-to-do family often find higher paying but less traditional jobs.

For the most part, I was a loner among this group, staying home to study. And, I had no money anyway.

One Sat afternoon, the hottie and a couple of her girl friends, ages 15 and 16, were out drinking at a bar which was located close to the apt. If you were in the in crowd, then drinking as a minor in Iowa City was not an issue. The 3 arrived at the apt that afternoon, wanting to smoke some pot. Having found out the ages of the 2 girls, I left the area entirely to find some viable witnesses to verify where I was that day (I ain't no dummy, especially having no money, not being wanted in IC in the first place, and not being Jew, Catholic and/or Episcopalian). Oh, did I mention that I am White?

Time passed. A couple of weeks later, being home alone studying, the 15 yr old shows up wanting to smoke some pot with her girl friend who wasn't home. She looked pretty good, I must admit. Halter top, short shorts, etc. Then, she came onto me, wanting to smoke with me. I told her that I didn't have any but if I gave her some money, she could go buy some, then come back to smoke. I gave her 10 bucks (this was 1980). She left.

I then went out the window of my BR in back, slipped in the darkness to the alley where I saw a couple of IC detectives sitting in an unmarked police car. They did not see me. So, I went around to the front of the apt bldg where 3 IC cops were sitting in a black and white. They seemed to be waiting on something. I suspected that they were waiting on the 15 yr old to come back with the pot so that they could raid the apt to find me smoking pot with a 15 yr old. And, whatever molestation charges they could manufacture.

Again, I left the area quickly and found some viable witnesses. I remained there all night, returning to the apt to pack my stuff to leave. I withdrew from the University the following Monday. I returned a couple of years later with some money in my pocket and completed my degree.

Thus, this is a case of power trying to kill a few birds with one stone. Firstly, they get rid of an unwanted older student. Secondly, they send a non-Catholic, non-Jew, non-Episcopalian to prison for a few years. Thirdly, they screw up the life of a high-achiever. Marxist scum hate achievers.

So it's obviously someone with as much ambition as this woman whom was murdered to carry out this crime and still get away with it and such a person could possilby have inside access to surviellance personnel to get them to possilby cover this up with bribes. These are only students mind you, not professionals, therefore more easily bought out with money bribes to cover up such a gruesome murder. This person will be caught as now the threat of the future of whomever helped her will be threatened upon interrogation. These students will easily crack just as they likely succombed to money bribes. Just first interrogate the security personnel. That's just a given ofcourse.

What is rape? Rape has been broadened to include consensual sex which days later is deemed unpleasant or even sex that didn't go as well as it should. We've been blasted with the image that date rape is when a man goes into a rage, beats a woman senseless, then ejaculates into her unconscious body. That's wrong.

And, yes. It is important for a place of higher education to be fairly represented. If the rapes did not actually occur, then there is no need to ruin the reputation of a university or the men involved. If the rapes are real, then they should be dealt with by the law, not university security.

Well executed? Yes. Well thought out? No. The perp was able to commit the murder and hide the body and get out without being detected, as well as whatever took place before the murder. Do you know how to open the cable raceway? How far apart were the clothes and the body? A quick thinker, I think not, so the fire alarm and whatever disguise to get out without door logging was either figured out beforehand, or, extreme luck. I'm sure the suspect, if guilty, didn't expect to get marked by her, so not well thought out, but still, executed as if preplanned. At least he will be stopped the firsttime. I'm not sure if you are joking or not. Maybe you just are not familiar with one of the definitions of "pouring over" (if you are an ESL student)

In this reference, "pouring over" means "to look at carefully and intently", "to inspect/study". Linguistically, I have no idea how this term came to be used for intense study; perhaps someone compared their scrutiny to poured syrup, inching slowly over each piece of "whatever". (in this case, evidence)

So, the police would be taking the time to look very carefully at the blueprints and videos, not physically pouring something over them.

You want to know why people do such things? First of all, children don't have parents anymore-they have friends who don't teach them right from wrong and they get whatever it is they want. If they don't, then they will find a way whether it is legal or not. Second, a perp has more rights than you or I do. They will get a slap on the wrist. They will go to prison, pump iron, eat 3 meals, get medical treatment and dental treatment (yeah, I know it's not the best but better than nothing), cable TV, radios, exercise, etc....What does the victim get and their families? Torture, heartache, a lifetime of misery, etc.

We are raising a bunch of ingrates who think it's cool to murder because they'll be on all the news stories. They have NO discipline anymore. They fear NO ONE, especially parents and teachers. In fact, it is the other way around.

Look at our society now, that what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right. Do you even wonder any more? I don't. I know why. We're a sick sadistic society!! We've already forgotten the victims of 9/11. Proof of that is the way America bends over backwards for muslims such as foot baths at airports, special schools, and foot baths for cabbies. I'm sure the families of the victims appreciate reading those kinds of "Stupid" headlines!!

And yes, history has everythign to do with it. The reason you "see these headlines" now is because of the technology we have today to bring them to you.

The fact is, that prior generations were far worse off in crime, children still commited crimes, people still killed people. You just didn't hear about it because we didn't have the ability to send it right to your computer in less than a second. But the fact still remains that they had more incidents, just because you weren't aware of them doesn't make them not true. What has happened to today's society. Sadistic, yes, A majority of people on this board can be described as this.

There have been many of types of missing young woman, very few are found alive. Some are run aways---this one does not seem to be the case. Finding bloodied clothing, and a youn woma who had everything to live for.

Men who kill these young women are either Socieopaths or Psychopaths. This woman may have been in an abusive realtionship. That we do not know yet. No wedding.

It is most disturbing to read the comments. Most have been desensitized to violence because of the movies and violence seen on TV. They must think this is normal. Where are caring parents who teach their children the sanctity of life?

It is a me society, neglecting the needs of our children. Parents needs come before their child's. Lessons taught? Value life.

The nation has forgotten the Garridos. Jaycee--so much violence and crazy happenings, no one can focus on each individual one for any length of time.

Drugs play the biggest part in any kind of murder and violence. Drug Cartels are creating Americans as zombies and it is easy to kill while under the influence. There is no feeling for the act.

It's time to declare War on Drugs along with the Terrorists.

All you freaky posters above who disagree with Fritzsmom - prove the statistics you state. Life was bloody treacherous back in history but not for the comparisons you make. It was treacherous mostly because of lack of proper nutrition, lack of proper housing, living in filthy, contaminated conditions, with no clean, running water, or sanitation capabilities, etc. Yes, children had to steal and pick pockets to help their families survive. All well documented by Charleston Dickens or I should say romantically embellished. But you are still incorrect in your assertions about there being more murders and other crimes.

Yes, it was a cleaning lady in NYC (I think). They found her stuffed in a vent in the ceiling.

WHEN will they start putting these men away for good? They cannot be cured and there are
out there lurking for their next victim. When you have judges that give a year to a known sex
offender of a little innocent 4 yr old girl....well....something is horribly wrong with our justice system.

While I agree with you on sex offenders, there is no proof yet that one committed this murder. Usually, the victim is killed by someone they know. It could be a co-worker who was jealous. We will have to wait and see.

I recently did a project for a Dr in one of these large research facilities. They are huge, with many (1000s) of people working in and coming and going. Finding the killer from a video will be a daunting project.

Probably been in the pen already and out for "good behavior" or maybe some scum sucking lawyer got him off on a technicality the first offence. They probably had a bad childhood or some other freakin' excuse for their bad adult behavior/choices.

There should be records of who got into the building with their card, shouldn't be a big deal to talk to all those folks and check them out. I hope they catch them to give the family some closure. My prayers are with them.

corey's mommy, you are so right!  I thought the same thing, why were there no footage of her leaving the building, but they had it of her entering.  finally, someone smartened up.  i think this all has to do with jealousy, maybe even a woman, afterall, Le was so tiny, and she was on her way to a wonderful life.  i think she may have been aware of she was being stalked.  friends said she was street smart and aware of her surroundings.  what a horrible thing for the fiance to go through.

i rest my case....

but maybe she trusted her attacker. possibly a fellow student who gained her trust, then methodically planned her demise.
