What I would like to know is where is the story about the families(spouses and children) of those MURDERED on 9/11? We are supposed to feel sorry for the Muslim community because their bretheren committed a horrendous crime against those people, their families and the entire United States of America? I do not condone those that hurl insults and muslim americans for what the terrorists did but it seems that the terrorists had no problem blaming innocent people for their problems and killing them because they were 'infadels'. When the families, spouses and children of those murdered get the same coverage in the media that they are giving to the american muslim who suffered little if any losses on that horrible day other than the terrorists then I will worry about how they feel when they walk out their doors on 9/11. I wonder how 9/11 is for the survivors? Is anyone in the media talking about that, nope they are worried about muslim americans not those that were injured, mentally and physically that day. What a sad state the media is in and their priorities are so backwards it isn't funny.
Not all muslims are terrorists that is true but it certainly seems that all terrorists are muslim.
My stepson leaves for Marine Corps bootcamp on September 21st to continue the defense of our country and our way of life. Support our troops and those that have died for our country including those that died on 9/11 and their families.
I don't believe it is unreasonable to be suspicious and cautious with the Muslim community. All the while keeping in mind that they are as individual as anyone else and admiting that many of other faiths have commited henous crimes against others (including christians) historically, with the information available to us today and the continuing jihad movement world wide it is just smart to watch our backs with these people. I'm sorry the innocent have to feel like victims but it's only wise of us. How long were we supicious of the Japanese and Germans after world war 2?
Why don't we do a story on how Christians are treated in Pakistan? Egypt? Nigeria? I'm sure there are a lot of "nice" Muslims here, but I don't feel the least bit sorry for any of them, especially, when a Muslim is barred from his mosque in Oklahoma for writing a letter denouncing Osama bin Laden.
I don't understand why muslims want to live in the land of the infidel. We are not welcome in theirs. The culture is not compatable with western liberalism. Furthermore what the hell are we doing in Iraq and AAfghanistan anyway. Bring the guys home to a hero's welcome and let them rest up for the big one that is inevitable.
"There's this fear about what down the road this will mean for my daughter's future. What kind of life will she have here?" he said. "People may be less angry or less hostile toward Muslims in general, but if there's another attack, what then?"
If there is another attack !!! ?
I think guilt by association happens in many courses of life not just this 9/11 situation. People are usually accepted by what they show they can do in the community and not by stigma.
Yes, and people with too little time on their hands, combined with the need to feel important, will make an issue where there is no issue. Some people are just plain mean. Period. The man who walked by the muslim woman and said "Taliban"...did he lose someone he loved in a war? Or in one of the towers on 9/11? Perhaps. If he didn't, he's probably at odds with his neighbors, and has trouble keeping any kind of friendships going. If he did, he may be bitter, and deserves tolerance. And really, that's the right thing to do. And since, in the many of these posts, Christianity has been brought forth as a matter of comparison, the Christian thing to do would be to give kindness and understanding to such a person. Apparently Muslims don't have the assurance of "me plus God equals a majority", and therefore feel all this nervousness and fear. Could it be that Islam is a set of rules that doesn't have any real power, and that is why all this fear and angst?
Or could it be MSN and the AP are looking for a story angle? I wouldn't put it past them to make an issue where there isn't one, for a story.
Well OF COURSE the politically correct thing to do is focus on the insecurities of muslims.
Our reaction to 9/11 from DAY ONE has been an exercise in political correctness. Why do you think little old white ladies have to take their shoes off in the airport? We didn't have the balls to say "we we're attacked radical Saudi muslims". We have to PRETEND the next terrorist attack could be by "anybody". BULL****.
Every year this story pops up and not one thing has happened to the muslims in this country but you still see it on msnbc. The muslims try to use it for sympathy. No one has gone and shot up, or blown up a mosque. No one has gone and commited hate crimes in mass to the poor lil muslims, so far removed from their homeland, living in this country. As a matter of fact there has only been a handful of incidents in this country in the last eight years. So few you could count them on one hand. Commited by a handful of idiots. This whole story isn't even worth reporting
The media sucks, if there isn't a story let us make one up. The Muslims in this Country are worried. Doubt it. This is a great Country. The true believers in the Muslim faith have nothing to worry about, in this Country, and guess what they are not worried. Our bull s--t media might tries to stir something up. 9/11 was a tragedy and we survive. For some media types to try make a buck off it, with bull s--t comments or stories. Take them out and ---- them. Just a thought.
chino wingnut "Every year this story pops up and not one thing has happened to the muslims in this country but you still see it on msnbc"
You are correct. This is an opinion looking for a story.
The initial negative reaction was because the Muslims worldwide seemed to be "dancing in the streets" when the Twin Towers fell down, but I doubt that there will be any negative problems on this anniversary. In fact, Obama will probably issue an "apology" for Americans being upset in the past.
"I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every year," said Nancy Rokayak, 45, of Charlotte, N.C., who covers her hair in public. "I feel on 9/11 others look at me and blame me for the events that took place."
Rokayak, a U.S.-born convert, has four children with her husband, who is from Egypt, and works as an ultrasound technologist. She makes sure she is wearing a red, white and blue flag pin every Sept. 11 and feels safer staying close to home.
Yeah, Nancy. That is a common Muslim name. How could anyone look at you and blame you? Because you wear a scarf? You are a Muslim convert. Unless you told them you were Muslim they would have no idea. Now you are a martyr? Maybe you should stay close to home, knucklehead.
" For Muslims, backlash fear builds each 9/11" THEY SHOULD BE WORRIED !!!!! What about all those AMERICANS there brothers MURDERED??? Why doesn't this left wing MSN do a story on those peoples family's and there hardships??
Here we go again. Hatred, biggotry and narrow minded blow hards. All you people think about is yourselves. You are destroying your own agenda. I regret to inform you; This is America, not only your America, but those of other religions have rights and freedoms also. Isn't the constitution, about them also? Oh I forgot, "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.................................. not really, oh pathetic you are.
Were supposed to feel sympathy for the muslims today. What a bunch of BS. This is absurd. The propaganda networks once again turning this onto us. Let remember today the fallen. The real victims. The families of the 2000 plus people killed. Lets think about the serated heads of the victims of Islam who they kill.
Muslims bring it on themselves when they insist on getting driver's licenses without removing the face covering for the photo, or when they fight to have the right to wash their feet in the school sinks 5 times a day until the school has to spend tax money to put in foot washing areas or when they claim the right to disrupt work 5 times a day to pray while others would be fired for such a distruption of the work place, or when - as in England - workers cannot eat at their desks during the month of Ramadam because it might "offend" the Muslims. And why do we in American put up with bowing to a religion that so discriminates against women? If they think their Muslims ways are so great, let them move to a Muslim country.
You don't see the Amish or the Menenites demanding that the country change to accomodate their religious views
the biggest thing the muslim community's have to look at att his time is whether or not they themselves are helping themselves get past the 9/11 ordeal. There are I am afraid many of the muslim religion that are ok whith what their terrorist friends did and support factions that are in the USA..So the question for them is this..if they know of factions in this country are they telling anyone or protecting them because of faith or maybe even fear ? You do not see where they are helping this nation catch terrorist in this country even though a few have been caught.
Is this really what we want? An entire religion of Americans who are so afraid of the rest of us that they don't leave their houses? Does that somehow make us safer? Islam is not only a religion (versus an ideology) it is one of the world's major religions and the fastest growing of them all. The religion didn't alienate us, fanatics did. I get that they claim the basis for their ideology came from the Koran, but the motive did not... that came from our heavy-handed treatment of the entire Middle East over the last century. And not just from the United States, but from many western countries. Great Britian redrew their borders, the US took their oil and put in dictators over their traditional leaders, and let's not forget the Dutch, the Germans, the French, the Russians and God-knows who else. This mess was decades in the making, so let's not pick 9/11 as the start date... it cheats us all to blame everything on Islam. And just so we're clear, I'm a Catholic.
A significant number of U.S. Muslims contend that no one of their faith could have perpetrated the hijackings. They resist suggestions that they should be monitoring their own communities for extremism.
OMG!!! REALLY? weren't these the same mosques who were giving money to terrorist through pseudo charity organizations? This statement is a load of crap!!!! How many people in America that were arrested and someone says that oh we didn't know? yeah right? This article is crap trying to get people to sympathize with muslim religion if it were Christianity it would be the complete opposite, Christianity would be the devil like they portray it now.
I agree it is wrong though? she makes sure she wears a flag pin every 9/11 so people will leave her alone? WTF? why not every day you live here this is your home you don't believe in this country? you don't like your womens rights here in AMERICA? YOU DON"T LIKE YOUR FREEDOMS OF DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT AS A WOMEN? then why would you live here? why would you want to partake in a religion that kills people because they are not muslim and because of their culture? this is not the days of the Ottoman empire years!! this is the millennium!! I don't believe in my government, but I love the people and my country because I guarantee this is the best darn country to live in and I have been to other places and thank you GOD I am American! and I will do anything to keep it my country! if we found our selves in world war 3 would you fight along side me to keep our country intact? would you call me brother or sister? you think FREEDOM IS FREE!!!!! FREEDOM COMES WITH A COST!! A COST OF BLOOD!!! thank every SOLDIER, FIREFIGHTER, COP, EMT, Doctors YOU SEE AND THANK THEM FOR PROTECTING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!
I feel so bad for what these people are going through. Oh, you thought I meant the United States Muslim community? No, I was referring to the family and friends of those that died on 9/11/2001. I can't imagine what it would be like to have lost a mother or father, son or daughter, brother or sister, husband or wife. That's where my thoughts lie. Don't really care that the Muslims have one bad day out of the year. It's been eight years. I'm wondering why they haven't done more to take back their religion, why they have been so quiet? Why they spend more time worrying about having a place to wash their feet and pray in an airport or not picking up people with Seeing Eye dogs or alcohol in their cabs then they do speaking out against the so-called perverters of their religion. All I seem to be hearing are crickets chirping.
Why should we feel sorry for Muslims that live in the US? It is their choice to live here or to have imigrated here. I worked in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War as a government employee. I am a former US Army Ranger with multi-lingual skills. While in Saudi, I learned enough of the language to read, speak and understand Arabic. On 9/12 I visited a store owned by Saudi imigrants while one of the owners was on the phone. He was speaking Arabic. As I approached the counter, he said in Arabic, and I quote, "Hold on, I have to wait on this white ass infidel." At first I pretended not to understand him and finished my transaction. Then as I started to walk out the door, I turned to him and said in Arabic, "This white ass infidel will no longer visit your establishment, nor will anyone else in this community after hearing the comments you must made about me." He turned as pale as he could get and bowed his head. He started to apologize, IN ENGLISH, but I told him, in Arabic, I speak your language, there is no need to patronize me now in my native language after you have already insulted me in your native tongue. May Allah look down upon you with the wrath of a thousand demons. He laughed and told me I was not welcome anymore anyway. Then I had to go home and watch the aftermath of the attacks. THEN to my horror, watch the celebrations in some of the Arab countries. AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO FEEL SORRY FOR THEM?
Not all Muslims are violent extremist, granted. However, the majority of their population in the Arab world hates America. When I was in Saudi, the only reason I felt safe walking the streets alone was my military and government training. Yet, I was still very uncomfortable. Every Arab eye was upon me, mostly with the look of hatred. They would speak in Arabic about how bad America was and how much they hated us, however, when they spoke in English, they loved America and Americans. This hypocracy made me laugh at first. Them not knowing that I knew what they were saying in Arabic, then pretending not to know. But I soon became very bitter and would let them know I understood Arabic. Most of the time they would just smile and laugh it off, a few would look down in shame as well they should.
Sorry folks, but this guy here will tell you, if Muslims, not only in America but around the world, want sympathy, regardless whether or not they are violent extremist or they are contributing American citizens, they can look in the dictionary between sh*t and syphillis, because after all it's all be said and done and considering my experiences with the Muslim community, because that's all the sympathy they are gonna get from this guy.
"Eight years after 9/11, many U.S. Muslims still struggle through the anniversary of the attacks."
What a load of sanctimonious crap. I'm sure the families of almost 3,000 people are struggling through the anniversary too. Muslims are scared to leave the house? Boo hoo hoo. There's 3,000 people that don't have the choice whether or not to leave the house.
I wasn't in the Trade Center that day, but I was closer than I ever want to be again. Got news for you, MSNBC and all the other liberal apologists - some of us won't EVER forget (or forgive).
Michael - I read your linked article (#1.6) and noted firstly that it is written by a biased source. Second, the pictured metal flowing from the building they claim is not a picture of molten aluminum because "aluminum at that temperature would appear silvery".
The lowest temperature listed in the article was 2000 Fdeg. I can assure you that at that temperature molten aluminum would be glowing very red, if not on fire. I can back that with 25 yrs. experience casting aluminum in various alloys. If the rest of your article was as inaccurate as that I would stop using it to prove your point for govt. involvement.
Now that is an amazing story, WOW is all I got when I read your comment!!!
Thank you sir for everything you have given to our country!!!!
To your comment of "the majority of their population in the Arab world hates America" unless their Afghanistan because they are getting bombed and killed then they love America now don't they, LOL!!!
This is the dumbest story that MSNBC could report on. Why not run a story on how illegal aliens feel on July 4th????????
Muslims as a whole do not integrate into any society, but rather keep their values, this has become a problem in some parts of Europe where in Paris - you feel that you are NOT in Paris.
You don't see Americans cutting the Muslims heads off on video tape- so why all the "fear"???
Just stop crashing airplanes, blowing stuff up, and cutting heads off and maybe the world's societies will accept you.............
is racism and intollerance the best way to honor our dead today? No one group should claim to be more singled out or more hurt today. Today of all days we are all Americans. Not Right wingers, Left wingers, Muslems, Christians... We are Americans today.
Stop the hatred of other groups because they are different, take a moment of silence and find peace in yourself. Honor our dead and pray and think... when you open your eyes let that peace stay with you.
Its time to move past the anger at ourselves and pull together as a United country a country where we can accomplish anything! Come on its not about muslems or conservatives or liberals or any group! We are who we want to be. You are allowed that freedom just like everyone else in this great country.
U.S. muslims wonder why we single them out. They single themselves out. The proof is in the fact that in this article it states that there is a Muslim Bar Association in New York.
They have got their own special group that only Muslims are allowed to join.
Now, who is quilty of discrimanation?
And no, I do not want a whites only anything in America. We are all human beings and need to stop the voluntary segregation of our people.
First off, I understand where hatred comes from. I personally think hatred defies rationalization, but must admit that I see it depends on an individual's ability to move on from something bad that happened in his or her past.
"Something bad that happened in the past." I don't say that lightly. My dad is a Vietnam veteran with hysterical racism toward Asians, not just communist Southeast Asians. We share a cousin who married a South Korean woman. I can count on one hand the number of times Dad has mentioned this cousin. Each occasion involved the word "gook." The child of that marriage is spoken of in the same way.
Now, Dad went through a hard time. He's recounted two episodes when he was shot down and had to rely on small arms to hold out for rescue and another when his helmet was grazed by a bullet, hard enough to jerk his head so roughly he thought his neck was broken. So, am I to tell him he's a bad person for his racist views? Honestly?
Other people who had similar experiences have been able to move on. I consider that a testiment to their character. But I also don't think my dad is that uncommon. I think human nature, unfortunately, is equipped to harbor resentment. Anyone who lost a family member in 9-11 or the wars that followed is bound to be having a tough time dealing with the idea of Islam.
Especially when they have no prior exposure to Islam. I think that defines the flavor of commentary more than any single issue.
I live in the Deep South. We are not known for cultural diversity. In fact, the cultural hostility we're known for acts like a posted, Keep Out sign. A lot of people like it that way.
But the fact is, if you live in Birmingham, Huntsville, Atlanta, Nashville, or any other metropolitan area with a thriving tech sector, you have different cultures and beliefs in your midst. The same is true if you go to school. I've found that people are generally less hostile to the foreign neurologist or aerospace engineer. It's likely his neighbors don't even know if he's Bengali or Pakistani (and thus what religion he likely is), but that doesn't matter. In the upper echelon of society, profession is read as a credential that placates apprehension and xenophobia.
But why is the aerospace engineer and her family entitled to this pass and not the student, small business owner, or person working in the service industry? In the absence of an assuring identifier to demonstrate the Middle Eastern-looking or Central Asian person is a medical researcher, she becomes scum. Or at least something to be wary of.
I made a handful of aquaintances in school. Living the student life also meant eating at late night falafel joints following a night out at the bar. We have a strong Maronite (Christian) community (mostly Lebanese Americans) here. An admired aquaintance of mine is a Christian Iranian American who immigrated in 1979, as a child, with her family fleeing the revolution.
I cannot forget the day when our acquantance became easy enough that she asked, "Do you (meaning naturally born Americans) hate us?" My guess is there were few members of the establishment she was confident enough to be that candid with. What should I answer? I mean, I know what the answer is with respect to me and my family? But what about my parents? What about the rest of the state? What about the rest of the country? The fact is, a lot of people here do hate her and her family because they don't know the story. Her Persian appearance automatically means "Muslim" to 95+% of people.
So today, when we are tempted to grouse about human interest pieces (albeit ones with a bit of an edge to them) about American Muslims dealing with intimidation, lets remember that the ostracization they face is so indiscriminant in nature that it affects more than just the Muslims. I would contend there is no justification to ostracize any of our fellow countrymen, but I think even the rest of the people on Newsvine will concede they do not mean to hurt fellow Christians, Jews, and their children.
Finally, relax. There are stories about the family members of 9-11 victims. Lots of them. Even on MSNBC. We've had eight years of them, and we'll have more than eight more. They were attended immediately, as they should be, and have not yet been neglected, as they should never be. But it's taken a few years to start the discourse about others, like Muslims and ethnic Middle Easterners. Please remember the spirit this discourse in intended. It's not meant to interfere with the sympathy we extend to familes, it's meant to expand it.
America is a free country, I will never live under Sharia Islamic Law. Islamic brothers actions show me Islam is evil. Osama has made much the world believe Islam is a evil religion.
Osama hides in a hole, to cowardass to become a martyr. Osama wants all you muslims women and children included, to become martyrs, so he can live. What a COWARD.
is racism and intolerance the best way to honor our dead today? No one group should claim to be more singled out or more hurt today. Today of all days we are all Americans. Not Right wingers, Left wingers, muslims, Christians... We are Americans today.
I have to call you out on your BS!
because, IF YOU LIVE IN THIS COUNTRY SHOULDN'T IT BE EVERYDAY that you are an AMERICAN? especially muslims or anyone for that matter? they are this first then American? why are we just americans this day on 9-11? WHO IS THE ONE WITH INTOLERANCE HERE? intolerance is not intolerance when it is an absolute truth on the subject being spoken of and neither is racism. Do you even know the definition for tolerance?
TOLERANCE - putting up with something unpleasant or annoying.
I have respect for the person (doesn't mean I have to like them) not the religion.
that is my own idividual privacy to like what I like and dislike, you have no right to tell me who or what to accept just because of a yearing for acceptance. Would you respect a satanist religion? The KKK?
First off, why is it that leftist media outlets like this one continue to stoke the fires of racial divisions. You people on the left just can't let go of the race issue. I mean, I have just about had enough of the blacks feeling intimidated, the hispanics looked down upon, the muslims fearing a backlash, the martians feeling alien...come on people, its high time we let the MSM know that we've had enough of this crap. I woke up this morning...just as I have done every 9/11...and my thoughts on this day are of reflection and rememberance and the sadness I feel for those who lost loved ones on this very day eight years ago. This great country truly is great for those who want to assimilate within it. It has way more to offer to diverse peoples than any other country in the history of human kind. So please, stop the racial and ethnic divide (especially on this somber day of rememberance). We as Americans truly are much better than that!
Orbust, you will not believe me, but the answer to your question of #1.39 is all around you.
"Where (are) the stories on Muslims condoning these acts of violence across the globe? Where is their animosity against it? I don't see it! Is it a secret? Where (are) their letters to their officials? where is anyone speaking out against it?"
The reporting and proof you seek is all around you. It was even widely covered on FoxNews, during the Iranian and Afghan election seasons.
Any time a person in Afghanistan, Iran, or Iraq turns out to vote, it is an indicator that (s)he rejects puritanical rule. The principal enemy of Islamic jihad is secular, republican government. So any time a person votes in that country, (s)he is casting two votes. One for a candidate and one against the jihadists. Something similar is true when General Musharraf was forced out of office and an independent judiciary restored in Pakistan.
The same is true when girls and women go to school, when entrepreneurs start up businesses and refuse to pay kickbacks to warlords and racketeering mullahs. The same is true when people protest arbitrary fatwahs (or clerical judgments) to their authorities.*
Where you're correct is that jihadists exist and Islamic terrorists are Muslims. Where your understanding is incomplete is that the aforementioned group does not represent the whole region, any more than American separatists (survivalists, minute men, Crimethinc, etc.) represent the United States as a whole. I know you've heard this before, but don't believe it because you feel you haven't seen proof. Well, you have.
The things I've decribed are proof. You have the choice to review it or not.
I'm not writing to make enemies today. I know my comment will incite some bullying, and that's cool. But before slamming me, please re-read my comment and observe the tone. I'm not calling anybody stupid, merely giving what I feel is the answer to a question.
*Protesting a fatwah to a higher counsel is analogous to a Catholic congregant protesting the pennance handed down by a local priest to their regional Archbishopric or the Vatican. In other words, if a local priest says one should stop doing something the rest of the Church says is okay, the congregant can appeal over the priest's head.
Orbust, I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean in #1.43. Are you asking for citation of reports of American Muslims grieving after 9-11 or Muslim Americans fighting in the war on terror?
This is what happens to Muslims who publicly denounce the acts of terrorism in the name of Islam.

19. The acts of Defendants, individually and jointly, are outrageous in that Defendants knew that if they labeled Jamal Miftah a “traitor, anti Muslim and anti Islamic” his life would be forfeit should he be found in a Muslim Country and labeled apostate and that he would live in constant fear and dread of vigilante “justice” from certain Muslims in the United States.
20. The acts of Defendants are the proximate cause of severe emotional distress in that Jamal Miftah is now labeled as apostate, forced along with his wife and four children to attend to prayers in their home, apart from the fellowship of other Muslims, prevented from traveling to any Muslim Country, including his homeland of Pakistan and robbed of his peace of mind and right to speak freely against those he believes have brought his faith into disrepute via attacks on his adopted homeland and other acts of terrorism. WHEREFORE, premises considered, Jamal Miftah prays for justice, at law and in equity, including but not limited to money damages, to compensate him for damage to his good name, emotional damages, and punitive damages to discourage future misconduct. He also prays for reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs incurred in bringing this action, pre and post judgment interest, an unequivocal written and published apology from all Defendants, and the public lifting of any fatwas or directions to the Muslim community that may endanger his life and peace.
Respectfully submitted,

Orbust, I apologize again for not understanding your question. You're writing in sentence fragments and seem to be escalating an argument that's not an argument. I was trying to figure out if I understood what you were asking. From #1.46, it seems I did.
The answer to your question is simple. There are Muslims serving in the US armed forces, in every branch. The actual numbers are a little hard to find (I'd keep at it, but the way you've escalated the discussion doesn't inspire me to spend much more time on it). So, the question is whether you admire all of America's soldiers in the war on terror or if you can hand pick the ones deserving of your patriotic admiration.
I'm sorry I took your bait. I meant it when I wrote that I wasn't fishing for a confrontation today. I see now that you are. There may be plenty of people to oblige you. I will not be one.
I just wanted to follow up my previous post. Never in my post did it say that I hate Muslims. Never did I say that I hate them or peoples of Arab descent. I was simply sharing a story. It was not meant to perpetuate a Muslim sterotype that all Muslims hate America or Americans. It was simply to state that I had no sympathy for them or those that I encountered that were hypocritical enough to hate us in one language and love us in another. I should've qualified that statement by saying that I have no sympathy for any group, regardless of religion or race that hates others simply because they are different. I was raised in the deep south. My community was half black and half white. I never grew up hating blacks. My grandfather just happened to be a member of the KKK. He may have been a hater, but I never was and never have been. I have no illwill toward Muslims or Arabs as a whole. I do hold illwill for those who continue to hate our country, MY country, Muslim or not. I do hold illwill for those that sympathize and support terrorism against ANYONE, not only Muslim extremist, but our so-called "homegrown" terrorist. I could've been a member of the KKK being a "legacy" because of my grandfather's affiliation, but I chose not to be associated those morons.
So please don't mistake my earlier post for one of hatred or racism. I was simply sharing a story of how racism runs in both directions. Racism will always exsist as long as you have two or more different cultures, religions, etc.. We see it everyday in the news here at home. It exsists elsewhere in the world. Look at Iraq for instance. The peoples are of a common ancestry and religion, yet they kill and maim each other because they don't believe the same thing. Look at Darfur...this list goes on and on. This article that this vine is based on is not one of racism; this article is one of pity begging sympathy for some that feel threatedened by a choice they have made. Sorry, but I learned growing up the same lesson that these people are learning. You have decsions that you make in life and you have to live with the consequences of those decsions. I don't sympathize these people just as I wouldn't sympathize with a junkie going through withdrawals. They chose their path and the shoes to walk it in. Therefore, they must deal with pitfalls of their chosen path.
I'm not answering any questions, simply because I have no answers (to racism). Secondly, I don't have to answer to anyone, except myself. When it comes to the subject of racism, I just look to the song "Watching the Wheels"
"People asking questions lost in confusion. Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions. Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind, I tell them there's no hurry...I'm just sitting here doing time,
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go."--John Lennon
I'm not blind to the problem of racism. I just choose to ignore empty cries for sympathy when there is none to be had or deserved.
Did you know War was declared by the Arabs/Muslims/Islamists on American soil on September 11, 2001; the Twin towers, the Pentagon, the commercial air jet with passengers all praying for their lives, blown up by Islamists, Muslims, and the entire UAE? Dancing in the streets in the Arab countries when this happened?. Wow, this is one heck of a celebration.
Most likely they are partying again today--
You do not sound like a true Patriot of the United States. An illegal Immigrant from the UAE countries?
Go back home.
Taking advantage of all our freedoms, then protecting this bunch of ingrates.
The Muslims don't come out today, September 11th, because they are guilty! They remain silent, while Rome (America) burns. Many women with the full Muslim dress and their kids, I see in public places, (why), must have husbands who are cells in this country--paranoid? Think not.
For those too blinded with fear and hatred not to see them, yes there were some VERY touching stories in the press by the survivors today. It appears that 9/11 sure makes it convenient for many of you to openly indulge in paranoid racism and religious intolerance. Timothy McVeigh wasn't Muslim nor was he Arab, but I don't see any of you telling militant white people to stay home on the anniversary of his horrific terror attack. How much violence has been committed in the name of Christianity over the centuries? You think Muslims have the monopoly on violence? If you choose hatred and intolerance, you only propegate more violence and ignorance, not less. Two dear friends of mine who are devout CATHOLICS but are originially from Sri Lanka (so to some ignorant hayseeds apparently "look" Arabic because they have darker skin) suffered horrible abuse from their neighbors for many months after 9/11, including dead animals on their doorstep, shouts of "go home towelhead" (which is ridiculous anyway as they don't wear head coverings - CATHOLIC, remember?), and death threats yelled at them in front of their little 4-year-old boy. What if someone had acted on this blind, ignorant hatred? Would that have brought the victims of 9/11 back? Would that have stopped the evil plottings of Al Queda? No, two innocent adults and one child would be dead. For nothing more than having non-white skin. I know so many of you want an us/them, white/black, right/wrong mentality as it's just so much easier than having to look at all the variances in between. So much less gray matter is involved in a simplistic world view. But there will never be peace in this world unless people open up the vacuuous places in their minds and fill it with something other than fear-mongering, ignorance, and hatred of anything different from themselves.
Good point Roberta. But both sides have to open up to understanding for things to work out that way. When a Muslim tries to speak out about what is wrong with the religious beliefs of terrorists and is shunned by those in his own mosque in this country, what are the rest of us left to believe about Islam?
"Eight years after 9/11, many U.S. Muslims still struggle through the anniversary of the attacks."
What a load of sanctimonious crap. I'm sure the families of almost 3,000 people are struggling through the anniversary too. Muslims are scared to leave the house? Boo hoo hoo. There's 3,000 people that don't have the choice whether or not to leave the house.
Jews, Christians, Atheist etc weren't the only ones to lose family members in the 9/11 attack. Muslims did too.
What happened in that masjid shouldn't have. Terrorism is against Islam and if people do think it's okay they are ignorant of the teachings because what happened was the murder of innocent people and the punishment and sin for that is on the people who helped it to happen and the people who did the deed.
Muslims against terrorism (google it, you can find many condemnations of terrorism)
Ask the Israelis how they feel about the Arab Countries?. All of them want to destroy the only single Democracy in the Middle East, Israel. A country that wants to be left alone, the Israelis giving Hamas more territory (Gaza Strip) just to get them off their backs. All terrorists band together in the annilihation of Israel.
Did you know many Arabs live in Israel peacefully?.
Iran and their cohorts, the Terrorists want to nuke them off the face of the earth.
Sorry, the Arabs are taught from birth to hate the Israeli's, all Jewish people, and any one who is against their takeover of the Western World.
You will not live to see another day in America, if we are nuked by some irresponsible Terrorists who bought nuclear weapons from Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Oil money.
They are patient and it will happen some day. You must awaken your senses and get real. Their agenda is to kill you.
Meganame just distilled this entire situation down to its DNA. All of this....Al Qaeda's hell bent mission to destroy anyone that doesn't embrace their philosophy, Hezbollah, the proxie terrorist wing of Iran, Hamas, .....all of it has at its center their mission to obliterate Israel. That is extremeist Islam's number one priority. The U.S. became their target because we will not allow them any chance to succeed in destroying Israel unless they are willing to accepte being obliterated by us in response.
MSNBC is the last place I would look in order to better informed about what is going on in the world because they don't have a clue. FOX News understands thsi. MSNBC is lost and their miserable ratings validate their journalistic incompetence.
Love the comments.. this story where we are supposed to feel sorry for anyone responsible for these happenings on 9/11... the editors of these publications need to look at "editing" and not simply letting people publish GARBAGE!
Not every Muslim is a Terrorist... let that be known... but gee.. every Terrorist has been a Muslim... hmmm... why are we giving in to this ALL OVER THE WORLD!!! and we are keeping it up (Thank you Ex-President CLINTON!!! we needed more defeatest and weakenss attitudes in the eyes of the Iranians and the rest of the Muslim world... NOT!)
I'm fairly sure this will not get posted on the blog as even lighter comments have been "stifled" by this site in the past year... must be something about denying the ability to post 1st amendment rights... and protect indoctrination and continued destruction of the United States by publications where we "feel sorry" for others that have gone out of their way to do harm to us!!!
I'm a little late on replying but i would like to say Im a Muslim, born here, and I have so much respect for Americans, but it's sad that even though i love this country, im called a terrorist..well WAS, times have changed. My point is, i HATE the fact that one STUPID EXTREMIST did something mental and happend to be a muslim- so now EVERY muslim is blamed for it. And i agree with all of you, they should DEFINETLY tlk abt the victimz of 9/11, but hey...it doesnt mean every single muslim is bad...every country has there problems...Afghanistan n Iraq jus happend to have wayy too many issues...do u guys really think tht evn people in those corrupted countries like the war? OF COURSE NOT...we all arent bad, but some people are such extremists. I was in the 3rd grade wen it happend, so im still in highschool and i rmr, crying bcuz i felt horriblle, for US, us americans, every 9/11, me n my family watch the documentaries of the day, and all we say is "it had to be a Muslim..." because our religion is not abt violence, its about peace, and the extremists who do all this, they will be punished one day...so all i say is God Bless America, but please please, know tht we r as human as u...
It hurts that Muslims-Americans have to suffer this treatment. It's hard to say "why can't we all just get along" because we have other fellow Americans who are in their own planet of views of Muslim-Americans.. so sad.
Dude.....I may not be muslim....but do you have a problem with people being muslim american? Not all muslims are crazed killers. There are also alot of converts in this country who started out christian and now are in a different religion. All americans have a right to religion freedom in this country and there is nothing you can do to change it. I for one will not pretend what happened on 9/11....but to blame all muslims for a few nuts..never.
So is this the point where 9-11 now becomes "Americas fault?" No one should be punished except those directly involved but for me to be made to feel sorry for a religous belief system that treats Jews, Christians, and women as second rate or even less than human is a joke. Just because some muslims get a little nervous around yet another day in American history that will live in imfamy my heart does not bleed one bit. In fact why has the muslim community never come out and apologized to America? Where are all the muslim organizations to help raise funds to rebuild ground zero? Perhaps if the muslim community were to put their best foot forward instead of trying to demonize others this would be a non issue. It is beyond me that under the guise of religon such criminal acts could be done and we are just suppose to "get over it.' But the U.S. military knocks down a few mud bricks or a mosque is damaged and all of a sudden "America is the great Satan." No, sorry MSNBC go peddal your crap to some other kool aid drinking moron who did not watch thousands of Americans die on national tv. . . .maybe if some of these "great muslim Americans" would actually attempt to convert, change, or even reign in their lunatic counterparts it would be easier to "move on" but in 8 years I have seen nothing but articles like this one from the muslim community crying how mistreated they are!
The comment was pretty clearly about there being no need to make them hyphenated americans. Its also a lot more inclusive since the article was not soley about Americans but any Muslim.
The Christian community never came out and apologized for what Tim McVeigh did, either.
Timothy McVeigh did not do his act of terror out of a sense of religion or for the Christian Faith.
Instead he did it as an act of revenge for what he saw as an oppressive Government. In fact, it has been noted by TruTv (formally Court TV) in a documentary that the final straw for McVeigh was the new gun laws and that he planned to imitate the Tuner Diaries (not the Bible).
On September 13, 1994 the gun shows McVeigh attended had become somber occasions. New laws had been passed to stop the manufacture of many types of weaponry, including a range of semi-automatic rifles and handguns. Gun traders and buyers alike were outraged to learn the government was controlling their "right to bear arms".
To McVeigh, it also meant his livelihood was endangered. He had been buying weapons under his own name and charging a brokerage fee to other buyers those who didn't want their names on government forms.
Paranoia rose on rumors that owners would be subject to surprise searches of their homes and businesses. McVeigh decided that action could no longer be postponed. From the Nichols home in Marion, Kansas, he wrote Fortier. He insisted the time had come for action, and he wanted Fortier to join him and Terry Nichols in their protest. Imitating The Turner Diaries, they planned to blow up a federal building.
Well many people did not have any sympathy for David Koresh and the WACO nuts who blasted ATF agents in a massive gun fight in Texas. He claimed that God told him to start a commune, organize para military training, secure automatic weapons illegally and sleep with minors. No one was saying, "stop their fellow Christians!!!" Most people were only sad that they themselves set fire to the inner workings of that locations and allowed innocent kids to burn rather then stop firing.
The KKK claims that they follow "God's word" but the government tracks their actions, their following, their members, and when they speak there are usually 10 times the amount of protestors then there are speakers who support the KKK.
The vast splinter groups of American Neo-Nazi cults and organizations are also tracked by the government and those who denouce such actions. Most people would not accept nor want these type people around their community preaching hate, violence, acceptance of murder, racism, and other various means to spread their word.
Okay.....why is this not the same within the Islamic community? If they are so worried about September 11 as a National Day to remember, how come we don't see mass demonstrations within the American Islamic community walking hand and hand with fellow non-Muslims to denouce the actions of people like Bin Laden, the Taliban, Hezbullah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Al Qaeda, etc? Why do we not see more Islamic Nations also ask for a moment of silence to remember that day? Until I see more Americans who believe in the Qu'ran, stand up and voice their own disapproval on the use of terrorism and the acceptance to warp Islam for violence then I am not going to worry about if they feel "uneasy". Maybe instead of saying, "I am Muslim, they should be saying, I am an American first."
Tim McVeigh is not and was not Christian. Just because someone says they are Christian does not make them Christian. I can bark like a dog and act like a dog but that doesn't make me a dog. Christ said, you will know them by their fruits. If what they do is loving and giving then they are like Christ.
Yet, you are condemning Christians for what he did? As a reason to not condemn Muslims? Very weak reasoning, because there is no comparison. Osama Bin Laden and Al Quida carry out attacks in the name of Islam. McVeigh did not.
That is what this article is about - bigotry towards religion. Showing bigotry towards Christians is no different then showing it towards Muslims, unless you are a hypocrite that does not need reasons to hate.
Not caring why is what most bigots would claim for their reason for hating Muslims. Bigotry is nothing more then ignorance of facts. So, shouldn't facts be used?
I agree if they don't think the way the terrorist think then they should be the ones too capture them and turn them over to us, this would prove beyond a doubt that they are not like the Muslims that attacked us and want a true peace ......
The U.S has its own home grown terrorist's groups the KKK is the 1st 1 that comes 2 mind. Tim McVeigh was a whack right winged neo-con who hate the government. Like the ones crying and acting a fool at the town halls calling the P.O.T.U.S Hitler. These radical groups like these hidden illegal militia's groups training for a new civil war are the real terrorists the country we need to watch out for. These so called Americansneed to all be hauled in. Muslim Americans need not be scared of these ignorant people here. Just give honor and remember the victims of this terrible tragedy.
boons. . .the Christian community and muslim community are vastly different. It was the Christian community who were early abolitionist in this country and in others. It has been grace filled Christians who have brought about great world change and who have helped educate and care for those who are less fortunate. The greatest educational institutes in this country were founded with money donated by Christians. Some of the greatest hospitals founded by church organizations. I myself volunteered for weeks and had the honor to lead other groups of Christians to New Orleans to deliver supplies and clean up the devastation that was left in the wake of such a great tragedy like Katrina. I have Christian friends who have dedicated their lives to caring for children with HIV in Africa. Christian friends who run 'front porch ministries" in inner city Nashville where they make themselves available to care for their neighboors by watching their children and taking them to the doctor. Another Christian friend who quit her job as a nurse at Vanderbilt hospital to go to Guatamala and give medical care for free. Another young man who has made it his mission to get fresh and clean water to those in Africa. And this is just a small list. So here is my question. . .Where are the muslim charaties? Where is the grace? Where is the humility? Where is the care? The compassion? I have NEVER heard of any muslim charity giving to ANYONE who was not a muslim and as we all know many of those charities were proven to be a front to take in more money for terroist organizations. So, please do not try to equate or compare the two faiths.
If (IF) Muslims do anything at all, (there is suspicion that outside forces (mossad and american intelligence) commit these so-called bombings and PIN IT ON MUSLIMS. Wonder why, you ask? To demonize Islam, to vilify Islam to further their agenda in "going after the bad guys" in countries where it is in their best interest to gain whatever they NEED TO GAIN (OIL, SWAYING W0RLD OPINION, ETC.), IF Muslims committed these acts, which they may have done in the past, it would be because they were WRONGED first, and would be RETALIATING, (such as in Israel's case with the occupation and oppression they are living under). WHAT WOULD YOU DO under these circumstances? ANSWER TRUTHFULLY.
when you try to defend the Islamic faith, remember that when it was formed around 640 AD, It's Leader was known for his 'method' of making anyone that disagreed with him 'disappear'. Not conjecture, history. read it, it's in the History books. also they only bring up the 5 stages of faith, conveniently forgetting the 6th, known as Jihad, yeah, you've heard that. It is actually written in the Koran that a jihad must be called for any 'Infadel' that does not believe the faith or speaks out against it. When bombings occur in the middle east, I don't see the news showing dancing in the streets or cheering, have you forgotten those images? We as a nation condemn it, slight difference there.
Great Family faith too, look at the young lady now in FL hiding from her Dad, even the Leage Historian has come out and stated the in order to save his 'honor', this father MUST kill his daughter for converting to ANY religion other than Islam.
Don't you dare compare this to Christianity, true Christians have a totally different view than the Koresh's etc. WE forgive, even those that contend to be 'true' Muslims, at the core belief that means they would have to condone these terrorist acts, it flat out states that in their faith.
We should do to the muslims here in the States exactly what we did to the Japanese at WWll,,,, ROUND THEM ALL UP and sort them out at our leisure! The bad ones should be shot, plain and simple! The good should be set free.
Appropriate name there. You are either a muslim, or a leftist/socialist/communist that sympathizes with every perverse person and idea that emerges. Are you also a supporter of the All-inclusive Communist Libertards Union ???? Would not be a surprize now, would it?? Maybe just a producdt of the elitist Marxist education system, aka, the college/university indoctrination platform??? Whatever.
Why don't you go live with them, say in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia?? Then you can enjoy them up close and personal!!! Too bad you love the perps more than your own....if you even are one from the USA.
Grow a set and defend your nation and its principles, tree-hugger!
To all you muslim posters, this is America, and we call ourselves Americans, and it seems that only the weak and non-genuine individuals who are not committed to their country or it's principles, need to hyphenate their identities. Could it be that you need to have somewhere to fall back to, should you screw up your situation here in this country. If you need to go around telling everyone your religion, by tagging it onto your nationality, if you really are American, then maybe you need to re-examine your motives, and purposes. I don't see or hear of any people referring to themselves as Christian-Americans, or Jewish-Americans, Hindu-Americans, Aetheist-Americans, etc., so why the hell do you need to???? Give us a straight and honest answer for that one, Bubba.
And USMC 28, I don't think you impress anyone here as being even the slightest bit a Marine....Always Faithful....God, Countyr and the flag. What commie camp do you hail from, Mr. Imposter?? Support your fellow countrymen and your country...not a bunch of alien usurpers who want to force their totally absurd lifestyle and beliefs on this country. Be ashamed, traitor, be very ashamed. And don't trash the image of the Corps. Too many fine men have given their all under the USMC colors, and you don't have a right to tarnish that legacy, Bevis!!
"Dude.....I may not be muslim....but do you have a problem with people being muslim american? Not all muslims are crazed killers."
But all the crazed killers on 9/11 were Muslims. Hmmmmmmmm. Oh, and for the idiot that mentioned how Islam was one of the great religions of the world and how it is the fastest growing of these religions I just have this to say. If you try to convert to Christianity in a Muslim country you are likely to be executed. Some great religion, eh? Oh, and another reason it may be growing so fast could be forced conversions. Ever think of that genius? Oh, and if you don't convert you may be executed or heavily taxed. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
hang it up Boon. Even if your lame McVeigh comparison were somehow hypothetically true, it doesn't even begin to equate to what followers of islam have perpetrated in the past week, month, year, decade...and will continue to do until the end of time or until Earth is theirs to rule according to sharia. It's one of the most basic parts of their belief system. Ask any muslim, even the "good" ones.
USMC28, I agree with the previous post to your bleeding heart stupidity. Sir, you are a fake and a phony and if you truly are a Marine you should be removed of all vestiges to such honor (you are a disgrace to the Corp). I can't imagine a true American loving Marine making such an idiotic post.
I DID NOT SAY that the mossad and cia operatives "strapped bombs on their own bodies".
I said: that THEY DETONATE BOMBS in strategic places, such as busses, crowded markets, and the like, and PIN IT ON MUSLIMS.
NOW HEAR THIS: NO MUSLIM (EVEN THE ONES HOPING FOR FREE ADMITTANCE TO PARADISE) WILL KILL AN INNOCENT PERSON, ESPECIALLY ANOTHER MUSLIM, ESPECIALLY DURING THE HOLIEST TIME OF THE YEAR-RAMADAN!!
Because if they were thaaat religious to begin with, they would know what the Quran says about that---that they will reside in HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY. Now, wouldn't that be defeating their purpose?
You haters will try to vilify Islam in any way you can, and you may think you are getting away with it, but Allah will not let you succeed where it counts.
Get that thru your thick biggotted skulls. You also need to register for reading comprehension classes.
md - allah, schmallah, lol. Surely you never even considered that most here would ever believe one iota of that utter nonsense in the koran. Sorry you do.
Good grief, I don't believe half the fairy tales of the Bible - and surely do not believe any of the UTTER NONSENSE of the koran. Oh brother. But don't worry I won't do a fatwah on ya - because I don't give a rat's behind what muslims believe in, just stay away from me.
There is one thing to note, from that complaint case above someone posted - the "non-profit" status of the mosques. Until you take the money out of religion, the stupidity will continue.
1fromCommunistCalifornicated & Knight who says NEE.Who are you to question my service to this country and the corps. You idiotic statements insult me. I made a point which is fact. We have home grown terrorists groups in the U.S.A. we have hidden Militia groups that are against the Government, that's a fact also. For you 2 so called Marines 2 call me a fake is insulting to my 17yrs of service to God, Country, & Corps leads me 2 believe that you 2 are exactly the types of neo-cons i am talking about. Now do i feel sorry for American Muslims no but what i don't like is ignorant people like you 2 who can't see past your own dam insecurities. I am and will always be faithful. And i am and will always be a Hard Core Marine.
There's a disturbing level of ignorance about the history of Christianity on these boards. The principles of Christianity are all good, but over the course of history, this faith has been used for violence as obscene as we see today by extremists from other faiths. To believe that the spread of Christianity in the world was not done at the end of a sword is to lie to yourselves. Many have been burned alive, beheaded, disembowled and skinned alive, and have been hanged by Christians because they didn't believe or refused to convert. If you think Christianity's history is pure and innocent, you are SADLY mistaken and misled. Seems you've all forgotten that very important bible verse: "Judge not lest ye be judged." (Matthew 7)
That's a load of dragon sh*t. Was tim mcveigh Muslim. What about the columbian donkey bombers? What about the ira. Were they Muslims? or CHRISTIAN TERRORISTS?
What about the "TERRORISTS" that blow up post offices and universities and abortion clinics? What about David Koresh? Were they Muslims? NOPE. You make me want to puke.
You are ignorant beyond belief. Go do a little dragon hunting. Oh, there goes one..oo oo.
For speaking the truth. Not all will WANT to believe what you said. Simply because they WANT to remain bigots. It takes a lot of effort to LEARN. Not to much effort to stay IGNORANT.
Listen to yourself. You said "HISTORY" of Christianity. Definately bloody in its primitive state. But it has evolved. As for muslims and islam, their violence toward "unbelievers" is in their past, present and future until world wide sharia is achieved. They won't evolve because that would be blasphemous against the word of god. The "good" muslims do not deny this is part of their mandate.
mdmiriam,
What loud televised, highly visible, publicized, world wide effort is made by the "good" muslims to lash out against the "bad" muslims. The answer is none because it would be against the goals of the koran.
People will have to wake up and realize the truth and stop hating on everyone for what they believe in or look like. The old saying is still true today...."don't judge a book by it's cover".
I don't know about that as a hard and fast rule H-D. I like disliking some people for what they believe.
I think its completely okay to hate people who think pedophilia is okay.
I think is just fine to hate rapists exactly because they think rape is okay.
I also have no problem hating people who think terrorism is a good way to get a point across.
So, no offense, but I'll judge those books by their covers all day long. Oh and the books who danced in the streets and celebrated the first anniversary of then attacks.
The Japanese make a big deal in August to remember and remid the world of the dropping of 2 atomic weapons on their cities but fail to mention to anyone about their own actions and atrocites during WW2.
I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting too remember things that we don't want to happen again, and there are no angels when it comes to war I'm sure we did our share of atrocities, after all we bombed cities with thousands of Innocent Japanse citizens ..... or did you just happen to miss that one ....
Richie, have you conveniently forgotten the millions of Chinese that were tortured and killed by the Japenese first? Maybe if we bombed earlier it would have saved them. I have spoken with several Japenese (spent two years there) who contend this never happened, that it was all propaganda. And they truly believe that!
I'm sure you buy into the Holacaust being propoganda too, Hitler would never do anything like that.
I'm sure you also conveniently missed the fact that Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of Kurds after the first Gulf war, with gas no less, oh, that's right, he didn't have any WMD's..guess they all went up there and just farted real bad.
But that's what happens in War, that's why it s..ks. And yeah, I've seen it, back in Nam, so this ain't comin outta nowhere. Big difference is we will try and hold our citizens accountable for their actions when possible for atrocities, not dance and cheer about it.
German and italian Nationals were not rounded up and put into concentration camps. Difference being that they looked like the US citizens; the Japanese nationals of course looked different.
No I didn't forget the switch from high explosive contact bombs to smaller fire bombs on orders from US Army Air Corps General Curtis LeMay. I am sure that the decision was wrong and that the many Japanese that could be spared the horror of daylight and night time bombing if other options could have been used. But the method of total destruction was just that total destruction and since the japanese made a large portion of their houses out of paper, wood, and other things that can quickly go up in smoke then the use a small fire producing agent seemed to be more effective then dropping 500 pound contact bombs in the carpet bombing approach. But here again we see the Japanese make a great public deal about the dropping of 2 atomic weapons and remember the dead, but you don't see much of anyone saying we are sorry for the crimes committed during the occupation of say places like China, Burma, the Phillipines, various other South Pacific Islands. Not much mention of the treatment of unarmed prisoners of war, captured foreign nationalists, etc. But I think the US has made concessions to the Japanese Americans interned at the camps as well as at least attempted to pay the remaining Americans that are still alive a portion of money. No, I am sure it doesnt make it any "right" but at least there is some effort to say we made mistakes. I seriously doubt you will find many WW2 Veterans especially the ones who fought in the Pacific asking the Japanese for forgiveness. The Pacific Theater of Operation was a knock down brutal fight and from what I have read, spoken to veterans who fought in that front, and reviewed the Japanese conduct of the war, it could not be imagined what these people endured. So no I didnt forget our portion of historical piece as far as fire bombing the Japanese home island. Former SECDEF Rumsfield said that if the US would have lost the war we would have been treated as a war criminal for the air operations piece. While I disagree with his assessment I undestand his reasons to make such a comment. But the US did not start WW2 though we were tasked to end it.
Tim McVeigh is not and was not Christian. Just because someone says they are Christian does not make them Christian. I can bark like a dog and act like a dog but that doesn't make me a dog. Christ said, you will know them by their fruits. If what they do is loving and giving then they are like Christ.
Why then don't you believe when a muslim says the same thing? Terrorism and the killing of innocent people is against Islam.
September 11 is a sad day for everyone. Even after eight years, I am disconsolate on that day; I lived in that neighborhood when I was in high school, so it's as if someone dropped a bomb four blocks from my house. The suffering and pain continues, no matter who you are.
How do you know I don't? Besides, what does me dieing in a car accident have to do with Muslims, terrorism, my change of perception of flying since 09/11/01, or this article? Or were you just trying to be pithy?
Write an article about me. Every time I get on an airplane I dread someone will crash it into a building.
Why did you jump all over the ones telling you that you can also die in a car ACCIDENT?
One of them even "clarified" between accidental death and intentional death. What the hell difference does it make, either way WHEN IT'S YOUR TURN TO KICK THE BUCKET, you are DEAD.
Even slipping in your shower and or a getting cancer, or diving head first in a shallow pool. In Islam, our destinies are written out for us. I wish to die in my sleep, but if Allah/God has other plans for me, who am I to change them.
Dead is dead. Don't obsess. Be happy. Don't worry, take that flight, but be careful, not to choke on the 3 peanuts they hand out to you.
Are you serious? You do not see the difference between accidentally dieing and being murdered? "Dead is Dead. Don't obsess." You are completely asinine.
Go ahead, lie down and accept whatever destiny Allah has written for you. I for one do not like the garbage he has written to this point. While you've been dozing in your stupor of destiny, your "religion of peace" is being stolen by a radical, violent minority that has vowed to destroy me, my family, my country and everything else I love.
I will obsess, I will fight, and I will do everything else within my power to stop anyone, regardless of religion or nationality, that has designs to harm those people and things that I love.
Someday I will die. It may be in a car accident, or it may be in battle in a foreign country. It may be a long time from now in my sleep, or it may be tomorrow at the hands of a terrorist. But when die, I guarantee you, I will be content. I will be content because I will know I lived my life with a purpose. That I did not squander my Heavenly Father's greatest gifts. The gift of this life and the gift of choice to determine how I will use my life.
So go back to sleep. Don't let me or anyone else disturb you anymore. I hope you have peace in your life and you get your wish to die quietly.
i do believe there are many muslims that do not agree with the militants/terrorists . most americans seem to have problem with the nearly total lack of public expression of this feeling of the majority. but why can't they OPENLY disaprove of terrorism??
They do every day, by working beside us, following our laws, serving in our military, contributing every day to the growth and help in our towns and cities and the growth of our economy. They don't have to apologize to us because they are muslim. They respect us as we should respect them.
Are there any islamic organizations in the U.S. that haven't condemned 9/11?
Many Islamic organizations around the world have condemned the terorrists and all those who abuse religious teachings to further their immoral agendas.
Chris wants every Muslim he passes by to beg him for forgiveness for what the perpetrators have done, kneeling on both knees hiding their faces behind their hands sobbing in shame.
Chris should know already that the majority of Muslims have condemned 9/11, but he wants an excuse to look down at a Muslim Arab and mutter "you shouldn't speak or look me in the eyes for what your people have done to my country."
I guess he's not satisfied with all the innocent Muslims whose human rights were violated afterwards, because of the few psychos, who claim to practice the same religion, did something horrible.
If you're an adult, you should understand that sometimes you need to know how to put yourself in others' shoes. It shouldn't be difficult in this case, since Muslims are not the only group of people with bad apples. In case you misunderstand, I meant the shoes of average Muslim Americans, not the hijackers.
How many "mass rallys" have we seen where a large group of Muslims anywhere have said in public, "Terrorism in the name of Allah is evil.... Don't use the Qu'ran as a means to justify killing in the name of Islam...etc"? Sure, we see a few Islamic scholars denouce the action and the attack but you don't see much out-pouring of emotions like you would see people denoucing the action in Iraq to stop, or counter protestors against a KKK event. I don't think you will see any sad stories on Al Jazeria or Al Arabiya discussing 9/11. I don't seek every Muslim to say we are sorry, I just expect a little more out-put of disgust for people who use their religon as a means to conduct violent acts.
So boons,I guess everyone at the age of 18 needs to claim allegience to some "religion". Be it Christian,Muslim,or Atheist. Then if someone"claiming" to belong to said "religion" commits a crime the entire group should be fined for restitution.
Anyone wishing to find out about any other religion needs to go meet real people, not rely on the image created by the media. Y'all see what the media allows you to see. Are there muslims and organizations of muslims that have condemned terririst activities in their name, probably. But you'll mostly always see an active campaign in the media, via news selection, dramatizations, movie plots etc portraying muslims in a negative light because that helps sell the wars being waged. No one wants that flow of cash disrupted, so you can forget about an unbiased portrayal of that religion and its followers; its just bad for business.
You will be programmed to hate them brownies. It is easier then to mass murder them in their countries without raising a public outcry here at how our tax dollars are being spent.
Don't hold your breath, life is not always the way we would want it to be ....And I'm not religious, people blame each other religions, it's just another cop out, it's the people that do the deeds .....
dewinter: Does the name Timothy McVey ring a bell? How about David Koresh? Jim Jones? Oh, and there was the "Christian Soldier" who mowed down a bunch of Wiccans and Unitarians last summer because liberal religions offended his sensibilities. Oh, and the murderers of Matthew Sheppard were good ol' southern compassionate Christians.
The only reason why Christianity isn't as violent as Islam is because we have secular law here. In Islamic nations, they would have much less violence if they adopted secular law. It's really that simple.
"Oh, and the murderers of Matthew Sheppard were good ol' southern compassionate Christians."
You are aware that he was killed in a robbery gone bad by two drug adicts, don't you? Turns out it had nothing to do with him being a homo. At least get your facts right when you try and post something to support your argument. Otherwise you just look stupid.
No... most people who aren't Christians understand that there's nothing wrong with the practice of Christianity but most Christian "leaders" are full of sh!t.
In today's world, not all moslems are terrorists but most terrorists are moslems. Just like sixty years ago, not all christians were klansmen but most klansmen were christians.
Not nearly even most Muslims are terrorists. It's a minority of Muslims who are radical terrorists, but there are also Christian terrorists, and Jewish terrorists too. Bush is a Christian, criminal, mass-murdering terrorist, just ask the orphaned and widowed women and children in Iraq. The Zionists in Israel are racist, murdering terrorists, just ask the widows, widowers, and orphaned Palestinians.
Of course the western media only focuses on what Muslims do, since 9/11.
It is highly inappropriate for you or anyone for that matter to insult a former President of the United States. Whatever your feelings may be for President Bush, he is owed at the very least a bit of respect for the office he held.
As to American reaction to 9/11, it is only understandable. We lost 3000 innocent people in a matter of minutes. When it comes to the events of that day, Americans are inconsolable and rightfully so. Muslims did themselves a huge disservice on that day. People who were totally neutral towards Muslims lost that neutrality and what took its place is absolute hostility and in many cases unfortunately, the seeds of hatred were planted.
Peach - His office is nothing. It doesn't make him great, it is him who is supposed to give the office greatness. We have no duty to pretend there is something there is not.
The American reaction was completely ridiculous. The terrorists do not speak for Muslims, just as Christian terrorists do not speak for Christians (do they, peach?). We lost 3000 innocents, but how many tens of thousands of innocents have died in Iraq? Are there lives worth less because they are poor? Or Muslim? Or live in another country? Or have crappy governments? Does our attack justify attacks against us then?
If you re-read my post, you will see that I didn’t say most moslems were terrorists, I said most terrorists were moslems. Which is true. In the past twenty years, what group has killed more moslems than anyone else? Moslems. In Iraq, Saddam Hussein killed and tortured more moslems than Bush ever considered. Since 2003, more civilian casualties have been caused by suicide murderers than by military action. And where’s your sympathy for the hundreds of thousands of Sudanese people killed in the past seventeen years? Killed by northern Sudanese moslems. And speaking of Sudan, what group is the largest slaveholders in the world? Northern Sudanese moslems. As far as the Palestinians, they and the jews have been trying to eliminate each other for decades. But the jews are much better at it. Bush is a Christian, yes. But a criminal, mass-murdering terrorist? That’s your opinion. And opinions are like @!$%#s. Everybody has one and yours stinks.
I totally disagree. The President of the United States is considered to be the most powerful leader in the world whether people want to accept that or not...it is a fact. President Bush held that position and was elected to that position twice by the people of the United States. I think that he is indeed owed a measure of respect.
As to your description of American reaction to 9/11 as "ridiculous", that's your prerogative to say that. As an American and a New Yorker, I had never seen people throw themselves out the windows of skyscrapers to avoid being burned alive. I had never seen body parts all over the streets...a head here...a foot there...a torso on the other side of the street...enough heartbreak to last a lifetime and to emotionally scar the strongest of mind amongst us.
No American can or will ever forget that day. It is a day that allows us to honor our fellow citizens, our police officers, and our firemen. The fact that you are belittling American feelings on that day and calling them "ridiculous" is pretty disgusting.
The point is that these terorrists, like other terorrists who have used religion to justify their actions are not actually followers of their proclaimed religions. The 9/11 terorrists were not muslims. The KKK are not christians. The zionists are not Jews.
Can you blame the faithful for those who abuse religious teachings?
Julian in Dallas: If you want to call President Bush a terrorist, you'd better remember that the vast majority of people killed in Iraq were killed my ISLAMIC INSURGENTS (just ask the tons of orphans and widows), and don't forget to mention the name of one of the world's worst terrorist: Sudaam Hussein, who murdered tens of thousands of Kurds in his own country (just ask the thousands of orphans and widows) and who surely would have murdered many in Kuwait if both Presidents Bush had never sent US troops there. As for the Palestinians, some of their dead is due to the self-defense of Israel in response to the volleys of rockets the Palestinians throw at them, but the majority is due to their desires to strap bombs around their sons and daughters and promise them paradise if they'll blow themselves up.
I'll bet you are railing about the disrespect Joe Wilson showed to Pres. Obama even as you dare to call a president of our country a mass-murdering terrorist.
"In today's world, not all moslems are terrorists but most terrorists are moslems. Just like sixty years ago, not all christians were klansmen but most klansmen were christians."
It's more appropriate to say that not all men are terrorists, but nearly all terrorists are MEN.
Of course, people who are politically correct babies will whine about that factual statement.
You lost all credibility when you tried to justify hatred for all Muslims. What's even more sick is that even though you clearly understand that the majority of Muslims disagree with the terrorists, you think it's now okay to hate them all because those terrorists were supposedly Muslims.
"When it comes to the events of that day, Americans are inconsolable and rightfully so"
YEAH. AND SOLELY DUE TO THOSE TERRORISTS , you simple-minded DUMMY. 9/11 could be 10x more tragic and it still wouldn't justify resentment towards innocent Muslims who weren't involved at all nor even remotely supportive. Is that clear enough?
"Muslims did themselves a huge disservice on that day."
I have Muslim friends and they haven't done what you just accused them of doing.
So you're saying an innocent Muslim American, who's done nothing wrong and just going about his harmless daily life, respecting our laws, did his own people a disservice because of the actions of brainwashed extremists, whom he's never met? So he should be persecuted, now?
I guess I should hate all Mexicans because where I lived, when I was a little boy, was full of Mexican gangbangers. I guess, based on your logic, all Mexicans did a disservice to themselves whenever the few misguided ones acted out. Just like all Whites did a disservice to themselves because of their history with slavery and they should all accept resentment over that. Yeah, it doesn't make sense, does it? Do you see what I'm getting at and why your comment is so inflammatory. When you just quickly read through what you said, it seems to make sense. But when you really think about what you said, it's constructed with a twisted logic.
Just admit you're a bigot, and you're exploiting 9/11 to justify it.
And how many were saudi?? Oh yeah, thats right, 18 of them. Where is the home of Islam, Oh yeah, Saudi Arabia. Not all muslims are terrorists, that is true. However, it is hard to deny that there is a significant and virulent portion of the members of that religon that wouldnt hesitate to use any means at their disposal to attack us.
I think that since no Muslims denonced the terrorist actions how can we not think you all think the same, I have seen no Muslim attempt to capture these terrorist, and look at how many countries are having problems with Muslim terrorist, why are they all Muslims?
dude it doesn't operate like a Vatican and all, its like Christian holy sites are in Jerusalem so does that make you directly responsible for the holocaust of the Palestinians by the Israelis?
How many times have the Muslims decried this 9/11 attack or spoke against Muslim Terrorists? They live here in a free country, where Freedom of Speech would be to their advantage.
Who is their Muslim leader in this country?---That religious group silently endorses Terrorism. They don't speak out against any Terrorist attacks in any part of the world, yesterday or in the present.
Shameful. They are taking full advantage of all the American freedoms. Where are the cells?
I would prefer to simply call them deceased. On a very very superfical level Islam actually looks quite attractive. Serve God (Allah). But dig six inches down into Islam and the very founder of the religion, Mohammed, LITERALLY calls for Jihad, holy war to either convert or KILL all infidels (non-believers). So there you have it. The bedrock mandate of their religion calls for convert or die. Conversely, Jesus did not say, "I am the way, the truth and the life. Believe in me.....or die screaming." So screw Islam. They want a war to the end of time? Fine, I am up for it. If 150 million dedicated, smart, clever, brave and fanatic Nazis and Japs couldn't beat us then sure as hell we can harvest these bearded turban wearing idiots like wheat.
I won't resort to insults as you have. I can use the english language to say exactly what I want to say. Obviously you can't and you are in violation of Newsvine's COH. Nowhere in my posts have I said that all Muslims are to be blamed for 9/11. It is, however, a documented fact that the destruction of 9/11 was celebrated by quite a number of Muslims around the world not involved at all with 9/11. That type of reaction did nothing but harm for Muslims' standing in the world community. I'm sure that there are quite a number of Muslims who condemned 9/11 but they were not vocal enough to drown out the Muslim celebrations in the streets of Gaza, Pakistan, and Brooklyn, NY.
America was in mourning on that day and common decency would have required that Muslims around the world would make sure or at the very least make an attempt to see to it that none of them was seen celebrating or shouting for joy at the success of these attacks.
No human being is that magnanimus that after seeing 3000 of his or her fellow citizens murdered, would say...well, let's just forgive, forget, and move on. It just doesn't work that way. Human nature makes us hold responsible not only the perpetrators of these monstrous attacks but also the group of people that the criminals identify with. It's probably wrong to feel that way...but human nature is what it is. It probably will take a lot of time of peaceful behavior and actions on the part of the Muslim world to make Americans feel that 9/11 was the result of the actions of an isolated group of criminals.
I will remind you of the celebration by the Libyan people at the return of the Pan Am flight bomber. Just out of respect for all the innocent young people that he blew up and murdered, he should have been met with absolutely no pomp or celebration...but that certainly did not happen.
It is highly inappropriate for you or anyone for that matter to insult a former President of the United States. Whatever your feelings may be for President Bush, he is owed at the very least a bit of respect for the office he held.
Bush is owed a couple of shoe smeared with sh*t, hitting him in his beady eyes. Respect????? you are something else.
Again Peach. Almost without realizing, you tried to justify hatred for all Muslims by listing the few ignorant Muslims of other nations, who cheered for 9/11. I’m going to try to explain this to you again, and I will be extra repetitive.
"America was in mourning on that day and common decency would have required that Muslims around the world would make sure or at the very least make an attempt to see to it that none of them was seen celebrating or shouting for joy at the success of these attacks."
So tell me, have you been looking down at all Muslim-Americans, bitterly because of that? Exploiting 9/11. Grow up and learn to judge people individually. For example, there are tolerant Christians, and there are crazy pastors who wish homosexuals get brain cancer. You seem to tip towards the latter. You use your ignorance to confirm that Islam must be a bad religion, since there seems to be so many bad people who practice it. Shame on you.
Stop listening to Rush and his complaints of multiculturalism.
Yeah America was in mourning, and I was one of those Americans. But you know what's more tragic? People like you who continue to exploit 9/11 to justify your bigotry. 9/11 does not justify hating Muslims and Arabs period. When we fought against the Nazi's, were we justified to hate German-Americans? Italian-Americans? Was it right that we rounded up all the Japanese-Americans?
"Muslims did themselves a huge disservice on that day."
Since you believe all Muslims should've taken ownership, it sounds like you want all the Muslim-Americans to be rounded up as well. Just in case. What a patriot.
"It's probably wrong to feel that way...but human nature is what it is. It probably will take a lot of time of peaceful behavior and actions on the part of the Muslim world to make Americans feel that 9/11 was the result of the actions of an isolated group of criminals."
It WAS isolated. But thanks to the good deeds of President Bush, that number has grown exponentially. He spat on the graves of the 9/11 victims and their friends and families when he dropped the ball on Afghanistan to fight an unnecessary war, and lied about it. Honorable indeed. And you too are spitting on their graves.
You're an embarrassment to America. There are equally ignorant Arabs who think all Americans are like you, unfortunately. I guess I hope for your sake that whenever an Arab walks by, you cross the street and dial 911 so they can check the perimeters for any bombs. If you truly think you're right, then don't be ashamed to do just that. I don't think you'll be the first.
You think I violated COH by calling you a bigot. Funny, since you violated COH by justifying and promoting bigotry, and even worse, by using the tragic events of 9/11. This is Newsvine, not Fox News.
“I'm sure that there are quite a number of Muslims who condemned 9/11 but they were not vocal enough to drown out the Muslim celebrations in the streets of Gaza, Pakistan, and Brooklyn, NY.”
Vocal enough? Half this country wanted to hold on to the slavery. That’s a much larger percentage of whites, yet we didn’t need to hear every other white person denounce slavery, and you’re still stuck on the tiny fraction of ignorant Muslims as a representation of the rest? Fox News kept playing those videos over and over for you, didn’t they? If you only watch the Tea Party movement that’s happening right now, you’d think all Americans are idiots. If you only watch videos of ignorant Muslims cheering for 9/11, you’d think all Muslims are evil.
How about this: get to know a few Muslim-Americans, and while you’re at it, mention your concerns to them, before you make your judgment. That’s what adults do. Generalizing isn’t the American way. That’s what Hitler did to convince his followers to mass murder Jews, and we crushed him. That’s what Osama bin laden did, as well, and we would’ve crushed him by now, if it weren’t for Bush’s ADD.
If the majority of Muslims were involved in or supported 9/11, then you won’t be called a bigot for hating Muslims. Since that’s obviously not the case, by FAR, and YOU KNOW IT, yet you still use that as your reason because “it’s human nature” (that’s some good BS)… yeah, peach - THAT would make you a bigot. Like someone who hates blacks, because he or she thinks they all like to rob and kill, trying to justify his hate towards a black pastor. Just human nature, right? Pfft.
OH BOOH HOOH so muslims get all scared when 09/11 rolls around. what about Americans having to worry about crazy radicals pulling some kind of attack on Americans. we now have to worry about that each and every day since 09/11. hey muslim world why don't you all collectively grow a backbone and denounce all the radical muslim terrorists groups. why don't you fight against them just as hard as the U.S. soldiers do. why don't you go on the offense and take back your countries and governments out of the crazy radical minority that continues to blow up innocent people on a daily basis.
There are some muslims in the 10th. Mountain div. here fighting in Afghanistan at this moment. 7000 of the 10th. are being deployed in the next month on their 3rd tour I think.
The same way of the African Americans and not the other American Africans. There's no difference, but you seem to object to that way for certain religions.
Either an immigrant who lives here is a full American, or else they should be living in their own country of origin.
This country is already too divided. American, American, American. Understand? We also don't need thousands of new languages here, either. Speak and learn English.
My touch pad on my phone has enough numbers already for different languages.
Cathy: I understand where you're coming from. As a Wiccan, my faith is paramount. I'm also a patriotic American. However, if I moved to England, I'd no longer be an American but I'd still be a Wiccan.
what about Americans having to worry about crazy radicals pulling some kind of attack on Americans. we now have to worry about that each and every day....
ohio, that says a lot about you.
If Americans dealt with and treated Muslims with justice and fairness, then all of this sh*t would not be happening for Muslims to retaliate against America and it's master, israel. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Since the demise of communism, the new "enemy dujour" became ISLAM, and mission to vilify and demonize it. And that's where IT STARTED. So, if you do not want to live in fear, don't attack others.
I've befriended a Muslim from Morocco that works at our Walgreens.I'm not sure if he follows his religion, but He's a regular guy, into motorcycles and classic cars. You just can't lump people. I mean look at Mc Veigh he was homegrown.
8 deleted, pogodog7's trolling emporium, began with:
Not all Muslims are terrorists. However, all terrorists are Muslims. Therein lies the dilemma.
Ridiculous and bigoted. What else you got?
McVey killed US govenment workers. It is too bad he could do more like the corrupt politicians in the Senate & Congress who sell out their country every day. Tim McVey was a brave American patriot.
Advocating killing U.S. government workers and memebers of the Senate and Congress on a U.S. website. Brilliant.
pogodog7, you should stand up for what you believe in, even if it means getting you ban. Just report tyler to the newsvine like I did. He disagree with your comment but calling you a bigot thats just more ridiculous.
Tyler, i don't mind you disagreeing with other people and deleting their post, but when you just start to call people bigot thats just wrong in my definition.
Another MSNBC crap article. To all Muslims in America by all means please leave your houses and stimulate the economy! We need your help now more than ever!!
AMERICAN women don't cover their hair. AMERICAN men don't wear turbans. If these 'muslims" want the privlidge of living in this country--then become 'AMERICAN'.
Besides, Islam isn't the only religion known for headgear. Jews wear yamakas (don't know how to spell that one!) Women in India often wear colorful head dressings. I haven't met any Muslims yet who think Osama Bin Laden is a folk hero.
Ya know, that would fall under the catagory of tough.......................luck.
Not once have I seen any muslim organism come out & admit the terrorist were wrong. Not once have I heard any muslim organism come out & say it was wrong to fly planes (with children aboard) into the WTC & pentegon.
If you aint with US, you're against us. They could all vanish tomorrow & it wouldn't bother me a bit.I don't trust 'em & after the next attack most of the rest of us wont trust 'em either.
Come here to Fort Drum and say that to the troops here. Some have already died for this country and the flag and your freedom to say what you do with your hatred of anybody that doesn't think like you. They just might educate you.
I've been in the service since 1993(active duty till jan of this year-now i'm gaurd) so don't give me your little lectures.........I say again Screw islam.....just my opinion though.
They followed your fearless leader Shrub and the Dick into war. What have you done in defense of this country?
I've been in military life since 69 to 89 on active duty and 80 to this November 09 to retirement from the Guards. Been 2 tours Vietnam, the First Gulf war, You are still wet behind the ears for military service, we consider newbies.
Only 16 years active? Why didn't you stay for 20 active and get retirement? Probably got booted out.
Starbuck, please don't let yourself get all worked up, although I understand why you are. There is no room for intelligent discussion with the likes of pogodog, Ragingbull, drmhawkeyes, GED Teacher, etc.
And let me take this opportunity to thank you for your service. While some here may not appreciate it, I promise you I do. All the best to you.
As a liberal, gay man, I, too, once thought that Muslims were a peace loving people. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Now, I know that many people in the US and other non-Muslim countries may not like gay people at all, there are very few that imprison gay men and NONE that execute gay men. So, I would like to know, could you please tell me the reception my partner and I would get in Muslim countries. Since they are peace loving, I am sure I would not be tortured, thrown in jail, or executed. Is this the case? I mean, just ask the few remaining gay Iraqi citizens. Although they say they are routinely beaten, jailed and executed, I'm sure they are probably lying.
They have their laws in their country the same as us. Here you are safe, but in Iran, their clerics would have you put to death for being gay. It's their laws and government, not the people.
What you haven't seen is what you refuse to see. Google "islamic condemnation of terrorism" if you are willing. Tens of thousands of muslims around the world condemning terorrists and their abuse of religious teachings.
In Israel you would be in danger of being stoned for being gay as well. Just research what goes on there during gay pride parades, for starters.
Are you going to hate all Jews now, too? No, wait. Since all of the stoners, and all of the muslims in charge are MEN, the only realistic solution is to begin hating men. As you are gay, that poses a dilemma for you. You'll have to start dating women.
"What you haven't seen is what you refuse to see. Google "islamic condemnation of terrorism" if you are willing. Tens of thousands of muslims around the world condemning terorrists and their abuse of religious teachings."
Wow! That would mean that .00825% of Muslims spoke out. What about the other 99.99175%? You might want to stop now. You're not very good at this.
"Are you going to hate all Jews now, too? No, wait. Since all of the stoners, and all of the muslims in charge are MEN, the only realistic solution is to begin hating men."
Didn't I see you in my "Women's Studies" class? You were the chick with the plaid flannel shirt, hiking boots, crew cut, and a mustache, weren't you?
Wow! That would mean that .00825% of Muslims spoke out. What about the other 99.99175%? You might want to stop now. You're not very good at this.
who the hell are you and the other BIGOTS who "demand" that we speak up? I DEMAND THAT YOU "shut up" and NOT SPEAK UP. What I will speak up about is the constant VILIFICATION AND BLATANT DEMONIZATION OF ISLAM.
Not that I am OBLIGATED to tell you this, but if you would be more knowledge-seeking and less ignorantly-spewing-of-hatred, you just may get an answer to your question about MUSLIMS SPEAKING UP AGAINST ATTROCITIES.
Aww!! Those poor little muslims,my heart bleeds for them.........Ha Ha Ha Ha......Screw islam.
Keep the bigotry to yourself. You're suspended for a week for violating #5 and #1 of the Code of Honor.
...
Not once have I seen any muslim organism come out & admit the terrorist were wrong. Not once have I heard any muslim organism come out & say it was wrong to fly planes (with children aboard) into the WTC & pentegon.
why isn't MD(mental disorder)Miriam banned for a couple of months or even longer? That nut job is the biggest bigoted christian hater on the entire boards of grapevine. Her comments are not comments, they are just hate filled rants and everyone has tried to get her to move to Pakistan but the @!$%# won't go.
gee, you don't have much of a life, if your main goal in it is to get me on a one-way Paki-Air flight.
Besides, I'd have to get another MD to take on my patients, and seeing that they love me, I'd have a riot on my hands.
Oh, well. Take me or leave me, I'll be here (whenever Allah allows me the time) always trying to instill knowledge about Islam and countering the bigotry and speaking my mind about the double standard that exists between Islam and "other religions", and also trying to remove the "terrorist" word from the english dictionary when it is used to DESCRIBE MUSLIMS.
Anyway, I'm flattered that you are always thinking of me.
Tyler, here are other comments from your cited source on comment 13.19:
“Politics, not piety, differentiate moderates from radicals” in the Islamic world, said Dalia Mogahed, executive director of the Gallup Center for Muslim studies. “Terrorism sympathisers don’t hate our freedom, they want our freedom.”
"The overwhelming majority of Muslims – 93 percent – condemned the Sep 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, and most said the biggest obstacle to better relations with the West was the latter’s lack of respect for Islam."
Islam doesn't deserve our respect until the majority stand up to Islamic terrorists which was exactly that poster's point. You are not only blocking legitimate points of view with your so-called authority, you are also citing questionble sources and pretending that they have any legitimacy. What are your other duties as moderator of this forum? Are you botching those as well as you are the ones I have just outlined?
"While I abhor religion as the root of all evil,, (and prove otherwise,, you cannot),"
Really don't recall the Amish being responsible for any evil. Oh, there was that one incident with the Amish friendship bread terror pot. Prove otherwise, you cannot. Oh, and before you start I'm Agnostic.
I don't consider the people who perpetrated the 9-11 mass murder to even be human, much less muslims. They do, however, justify their actions by quoting the Quran at us. American muslims would go a long way toward improving the way they are regarded if as a collective, they demand that their overseas brethren and sistern stop supporting terrorists with their money and assistance. Terrorists hide in Islam. Islam needs to reject terrorism and terrorists in no uncertain terms and remove their leaders if they suppport it in any way, even through preaching at their local mosques.
And fellow Americans, as a nation we need to grow the nads to say "NO!" to our 'leaders'. The secretive 'national security state' that we've lived under since WW II needs to be dismantled more than built up! As it stands now a citizen is unable to make sound decisions regarding governmental operations and office-holders because a "secret" stamp gets put on just about everything that they know will piss the citizenry off and result in their own prosecution. How do you make good decisions when you are kept ignorant of the most important facts and information? You don't. You end up making poor decisions, especially after the propaganda mill starts spinning things with deceptive language. If we aren't going to hand over sitting or ex-presidents to the International Courts for prosecution of their crimes then we need to prosecute them ourselves. Bush DESERVES to be tried in an Int'l Court. He lied to us to get support and ended up causing thousands of deaths of our own service-members and Iraqi civilians. We need to grow some balls America, or stop pointing the finger at others. Prosecute the REAL guilty parties and leave everyone else the hell alone.
I concur wholeheartedly that Bush and Cheney LIED to drag us into two unnecessary wars. As to giving credit (blame) to Al Qaida. . . for 19 raghead terrorists to successfully hijack four airliners, divert them with two hitting two very slender towers, while flying at reasonably high speed through morning air turbulence. . . scoring perfect bulls eyes. For a third airliner to make what amounts to a hairpin turn, then scoring a hit on the Pentagon, the implication being that the plane flew into the wall, parallel to the ground and at virtually ten feet of altitude. . . all this by pilots who were described as "mediocre student pilots" in subsequent government releases. . .
Well, I don't need a tinfoil hat, thank you, to smell a skunk. Said skunk living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. Those of you spouting your nonsense about "tinfoil hat wearing", let me suggest YOU people are the ones secretly wearing tinfoil hats. Those of us who do have brains, who are not afraid to read, listen, assimilate presented evidence and news reports. . . well, some of us thankfully still retain the ability to think and shrug off the brainwashing attempts we're subjected to.
What about the enormous debt our country is in and heading towards a Third World status - thanks to Bush and his false war in other places. I am a mom of a soldier and I wish to God every single day that someone had had the balls to not approve the war on Iraq and Afganistan under false pretexts - have we forgotten powell and the so called images of bunkers full of WMDs!!!
I don't think the past is as important as the future so all the Historians here - STOP!! and think about how to bring back the US from debt and back towards prosperity, while making sure that we learn from our past and move on to a better and stronger future AND PLEASE BRING BACK THE TROOPS!!!!!!

What I don't understand, and it doesn't have anything to do with the content of this article, but this is the only thing that MSNBC has to say about 9-11? Are they hoping that we all will just forget if they don't talk about it or is it just not important anymore? I figured it would be all over the news today...just wondering. I know my family will never forget!!!
EVERY network should show film of what happened on 9/11 every anniversary, especially since we have a fellow in the White House who has already weakened Homeland Security, national defense, and our intelligence services.
The Religious Right always seems to forget that 911 happened on the Bush watch, and it happened because the Bush was asleep at the switch for most of his presidency.
Where is the article about how those of us that lost people on that dreadful day feel for two weeks before each anniversary gets here?
The press is missing something here. I do not like that good Muslims (American or non-American) suffer at all. My question is why the topic is always how the minority (not racailly focused but rather those with a lesser headcount than others) feels rather than focusing on the way the majority does.
That was the worst day for this country in a very long time and EVERYONE should remember it like it was yesterday. Yet, we seem to just brush it off and wonder how every individual feels. That kind of media only serves to further divide us.
YEAH WELL, we non-Muslims aren't feeling jolly / happy-go-lucky on 9/11 either. Suggest that everyone pick up a copy of "The Politically Incorrect Guide To Islam" as their reading assignment for the day.
I read some of that book a few years ago. Reading the lies that were presented as truth and mixing of tribal traditions while presenting it as Islamic teachings made me feel sick and traumatized for weeks afterward. So, no I wouldn't recommend that book to anyone. I don't even want to touch that book to refute what it says.
There's the ADAMIC nature in ALL of us, that will say on difficult occasions, thats it's ALL YOUR FAULT. The Muslim nations have bought this TERROR on themselves for obvious reasons, and to live it down in this world wide climate of FEAR. I think it's IMPOSSIBLE, as some men can be such a beasts......
"I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every year," said Nancy Rokayak, 45, of Charlotte, N.C., who covers her hair in public. "I feel on 9/11 others look at me and blame me for the events that took place."
"It put a lot of Muslim Americans in the position of, ‘We don't blend in as much as we thought we did,"
"There's this fear about what down the road this will mean for my daughter's future. What kind of life will she have here?" he said. "People may be less angry or less hostile toward Muslims in general, but if there's another attack, what then?"
Maybe if the conservative and moderate Muslims throughout the world would criticize and condemn the murderous, militant Muslims, the ones fighting for an Islamic dominated world where everyone who is not Muslim is an infidel, the citizens of their adopted countries would not mistrust them so much. I haven't heard a peep from the general Muslim population since 09/11/2001. Their silence is deafening and tends to indicate they condone and support the militant actions. What do they expect?
Thanks for linking that stuff. I try to tell people that muslim shave denounced terrorism also but I guess it's just easier to spout what other people have said than to do research for your own self.
MerryGirl, Americans are notorious for letting others tell them what to think instead of actually doing a little research themselves and forming their OWN opinions. Rush and Faux News would be out of business otherwise.
I know, it's really sad. I'm American and with what I read on newsvine it always reminds me to check up and research things on my own. Don't just accept what someone has said as truth.
Merlin; I am in total agreement with what you say. If the leaders of Muslim churches here in America all took a stand against violence and terrorism and denounce any of their faith who participate in these acts, then maybe I would have a better feeling about them. It is their silence on the subject that bothers me. When they say nothing it feels like they condone it.
pogodog I can never understand people like you and in fact I don't think I even want to start. It might lead me to thinking like you. To destroy Iran and Saudi Arabia would be to destroy and murder thousands of innocent children, women and men. That is a truly disgusting thing you propose and shows that you cannot think of those places people as distinct beings with their own ideas, thoughts and unique lifestyles. The thought of what you propose makes me want to vomit.
On the surface what you suggest seems reasonable however I really wouldn't expect it to happen in any widespread public manner. How often do you hear Christian leaders publicly denounce radical Christian groups? I think you can find evidence that many Muslims have denounced the acts of these terrorists, however most people wouldn't know the difference between a major Imam and Abdul the plumber.
Muslims and Christians both have different sects under the bigger umbrellas. There is usually some history of different interpretation that lead to the formation of the sects, however there's still a kinship of coming from the same roots. I think in most cases they'd prefer to keep their differences out of public view. I suppose I can understand that each has it's own dirty laundry they'd rather not air.
I'm not so sure that most religious leaders really have too much credibility outside of their own membership anyway, so even though speaking out publicly may sound good, it probably doesn't have much impact on the general population as a whole.
When you get right down to it, religions have contributed to more unnatural deaths than anything else in the history of man. They may be subject matter experts on the mass killing of innocents, but their judgement is questionable at best.
Religious authorities always concern me a bit because there's an inherent contradiction in their positions. They are of course human beings yet they can speak for God? It seems too easy to confuse one's personal opinion with that of God. Of course if you believe they are somehow enlightened by God, maybe that's not a problem for you to accept. The only problem then is why do different authorities deliver different messages? You'd think that God could keep his messages straight. Therein explains why we kill each other. If God instructed me one way, but you claim he told you something different, I've got to conclude that either you're lying or it's a false god that you're listening too. Either way, you're pretty much destined to be my religious enemy.
People that think they know what God wants are very dangerous people. Look at our friend Pogo. Tell me he's an "authority" you'd listen to! BTW, what kind of "school" awards doctorates in Bible History? In my humble opinion, unless your doctorate is in one of the science based disciplines, it might as well be a PhD in Personal Opinion! There's another source of dangerous people. Would be authorities on a topic that can neither be proven or dis-proven. I don't see how you can do a legitimate dissertation on some of these.
If the leaders of Muslim churches here in America all took a stand against violence and terrorism and denounce any of their faith who participate in these acts, then maybe I would have a better feeling about them. It is their silence on the subject that bothers me. When they say nothing it feels like they condone it.
btw, I don't place much faith that you will rid your hatred even after PROOF of the condemnation by Muslims against attrocities. Where is your condemnation of those thousands who are killed by drunk drivers here in this country? Where is your outcry against alcohol consumption. You do know that it is forbidden in ISLAM.
Where is your condemnation of all those little boys whose butts were busted by priests and pastors who are hypocritically xtian?
I'm sure that there were Muslims working in the buildings on 9/11 who died also, Muslims who had nothing to do with the hijackings and knew nothing about the attacks. The radicals who did these acts are the ones responsible, not all Muslims. Do you blame all White males for what happened in Oklahoma? We need to stop all of the hatred.
I totally disagree with your perspective. Those 19 hijackers who perpetrated the atrocities on 9/11 did not act alone. They had emotional and most importantly financial support from other Muslims and Arab countries. Our Homeland Security Dept averted any further terrorism on our soil by freezing bank accounts of governments and individuals known to be financial supporters of Al Quaida and similar terrorist groups. Greater scrutiny of bank transactions and other financial maneuvers were immediately instituted to freeze the flow of money to these monsters.
Anyone who thinks that 9/11 happened solely as the result of the actions of the 19 criminals who were directly involved in the attacks are naive at best. It took a great deal of money, power, and government orchestration for 9/11 to happen.
Well, technically true... mainstream Sunni Muslims consider "black Muslims" to be non Muslim... due to specific differences in beliefs.
"Technically true" is an important category of Islamic thought.
It's technically true that Islam does not teach killing innocent people.. the catch is that the enemies of Islam are not innocent.
I've seen Muslims go on about how leaving Islam as an apostate was not a death sentence... the catch being that it isn't a death sentence in the USA where it is impractical to kill apostates.. but you have to dig for that information... it is never forthcoming.
The double talk is often of congressional quality.
clayton- no most muslims are not black! I am white an a convert. ppl need to actually read the Quran maybe they might learn a little about muslims. What happened on 9/11 is not allowed. Hey remember in grade school when one kid misbehaved the whole class was punished? well its the same with one bad muslim it causes us all to be punished. Also what happened to freedom from religous persicution. I do remember that there were ppl of all religons in the twin towers including muslims!
The non- ethnic African muslims are treated very harshly, actually, to those who are African, muslim or not. Sort of a pecking order. Probably has to do with the arab control of Northern Africa for centuries. Even the more Arab-looking Somalis put down their more African-looking brethren.
md - you just have the most "in-your-face", "pain in the ass" verbal technique - like most muslims that post on the 'vine. No wonder people rarely listen to any of you.
Well, technically true... mainstream Sunni Muslims consider "black Muslims" to be non Muslim... due to specific differences in beliefs.
Really? I didn't know that and I'm both Sunni and black. There is nothing in Quran or Hadith that says you cannot be muslim because of what color your skin is in fact the jist of what it is said is "no person is better than another with regards to their skin color'. The 'Nation of Islam' has differences in belief but the majority of black muslims in America are Sunni.
md - you just have the most "in-your-face", "pain in the ass" verbal technique
Thanx addy.
Here are just a few of those who would disagree with you, however.

Ok, is it just me or is pogodog just plain crazy? I just so happen to be in a grocery store last year on 09/11 and there was a woman who was clearly of middle eastern decent working there as a clerk. She was ringing up a womans groceries when the woman asked her "Are you one of them damn terrorist?" The clerk burst into tears and left the counter... The woman got a big kick out of it. The manager finished ringing up the customers things and she left. I asked the manager if his clerk was ok and he said that she had been getting the same treatment all day. The kicker is, she was born right here in the good old US of A...
Excuse me if I don't cry, but racism is everywhere, coming from every color. What if Christians flew 2 planes into buildings in mecca? Then, a few years later on the anniversary, you were clearly a Christian living somewhere near mecca? What do you think would happen? How do you think they'd treat you (or any other religion, if your religion was that of the terrorists)?
I thought so. Yes, the muslims would do a lot more than just tease you, I'll bet money on it. So quit your whining. If you hate and commit acts like this, it will come back to haunt you or your people. God, you folks are double-standard preaching idiots.
Oh, merrygirl, speaking of being a chickenhawk. You're doing a decent job in selling sh*t here. Hypocrytical bigot.
Have you seen the current value of the $$$ - soon we shall all be trading in Yen - just because of a war that is not justified - We should have let the Barbarians in Iran and Afganistan figure the world (or not) for themselves.
Who gives a @!$%# what those ragheads feel like on 9/11 . If they feel threatened maybe the should @!$%# off back to where they came from. Or maybe stop wearing diapers on their heads, that way they won't get stared at or given the middle finger. Stop segregating yourselves you morons.
By diaper "rag" do you mean the same DIAPER that JESUS and HIS MOM, and MOSES and his mom and sister, and wife wore on their heads? YOU SICKEN ME, and I'm sure you sicken Allah too, and I trust HE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU, when your time on this earth is done.
As a Christian missionary in the Muslim country of Indonesia, building houses for those victims of the tsunami, the women in our group wore scarfs around their heads and covered their legs working in 100 degree temps. We stopped work everyday during their call to worship there. The same held true in Lybia as a missionary. This was after 9/11. I believe Americans are not hateful as a whole, it's too bad there are few who ruin it for all.
I love it when I am at the grocery store and grown men will walk past my daughters and I and say terrorists....it is amazing....
Salaamu alaykum sis,
That's nothing. When I'm in a supermarket line, this is what I sometimes get from jerks with thick Italian accents: "Why donchew go bakka to you cu*ntry?"
And depending on my mood, I sometimes answer back: "Philadelphia's a long way to walk, you idiot."
And sometimes I just let is slide off my back, and say to myself: "Oh, Allah, deal justly between them and me on Judgement Day." That is the time when we will see JUSTICE.
Anyway, Ramadan Kareem. Enjoy the Eid Holiday, insha'Allah.
md - "Because Satan has a grasp on them so tight, that restricts the blood flow to their vital organs (brain and heart) that deal with logic and compassion." Now, that's funny.
Now I know what you are like, just like any of the backwater Christian kooks who buy their religion hook, line, and sinker. Just exchange the names, the holier-than-thou ignorance and intollerant jerkwater attitudes are NO different. Call it being "devout", holy, and sure to go to heaven - no different at all. Oh brother.
25.8 deleted, tyler-890914 calling Muslims 'ragheads' and 'morons'. Between that and you dropping 'spics' a while back, you're suspended for a week for violating #5 of the Code of Honor. Don't post like a racist or a bigot.
tyler, for every post I read through on your history, it looked like you are banning people that are against muslims (for whatever their reasons) and suspending them at the same time for longer time than other people who are being ban on topics that are not related to muslims.
So my question to you is, tyler, are you discriminating people who post comments on muslims?
Now another question is, for code of honor also mean don't call other people names like "bigot" everytime you ban someone.
I just hope, some people can start report this issue on abuse of authority.
mdmiriam: There's still a long way to go for religious tolerance. One of my coworkers last week found out that I'm a Wiccan and didn't believe me that Wiccan's don't worship Satan, nor did she believe me that Wicca is a religion of peace. Blessed be.
Indigo Halo: There sure is a long way to go for religious tolerance. Thankfully the town I'm is usually pretty good. Although there have been a few incidents. Sometimes I feel like I should probably get a cell phone in case I'm alone and someone bothers me. I'm not very tall or hefty so if someone wanted to bother me physically there isn't much I could do.
Muslims don't care that you are not worshipping Allah or that you worship or NOT worship at all. As a matter of fact, the Allah tells us in Surah in the Quran, called AlKaafiroon,
"To the non-believers, I do not worship that which you worship, nor do you worship that which I worship, and I will not worship that which you worship, to YOU, YOUR RELIGION, AND TO ME, MY RELIGION."
Everyone is free to worship as they please.
Emphatically stated: NO NEED TO PERSECUTE OR ABUSE ANYONE FOR HIS FAITH AND BELIEF. That is Islam.
I have Muslim friends, they're the best. It depends on who you meet. Some are radicals and some are really good and nice Muslims. I am Catholic, and there was this Muslim at my high school who told me "Jesus is a faggot." Which is something my friends never said to me. They respect Jesus a great deal, as taught in the Qu'ran that Jesus was a prophet. By the way, most Arab Americans are Catholic, not Muslim.
I am Catholic, and there was this Muslim at my high school who told me "Jesus is a faggot." Which is something my friends never said to me. They respect Jesus a great deal, as taught in the Qu'ran that Jesus was a prophet.
Are you really sure that a "Muslim" told you that. Maybe you got it mixed up? There is no Muslim that would say that as we do respect Jesus (pbuh).
mdmirium, you seem pretty sure that you know the hearts (and words) of all muslims. Are you their leader? What does the (pbuh) next to Jesus's name mean? Is that code for BULL@!$%#?
Are you really sure that a "Muslim" told you that. Maybe you got it mixed up? There is no Muslim that would say that as we do respect Jesus (pbuh).
The person probably was muslim but it's extremely disgusting and ignorant of them to say that. Not only for saying such a thing to another person but to insult a prophet of God. I'm sure they incurred sin for that and I hope they are more educated now and feel ashamed about what they said.
Merry: For what it's worth, every Wiccan I've ever met has respect for Jesus too. We don't have prophets in our faith, but we do think of Jesus as a wise teacher, a man of peace, and a powerful healer.
They will be at our Lincoln Memorial, in Washington DC this September 25th. Practicing the American right of "Free Speech". A right that does not exist in any Muslim Country, without severe consequences. No doubt the news media will need to wait until after 911, before telling us of their big upcoming event. It will be just like retro back to the 1950's, but no robes this time. As Infidels, they can tell us anything they want to. Or, didn't Hitler say "The bigger the lie, the more they'll believe it". Looks like America will find out then...
I forgive you for your ignorance. Ignorance does not mean stupid. It just means that you are misinformed, not informed, and that a little education may be in order.
Just for your information as well as others who are in need of education, The PBUH next to Jesus (pbuh) name stands for Peace Be Upon Him. This is a show of respect whenever his or any prophet's name is mentioned.
It would seem that Jesus and his mother, (pbut)...peace be upon them, get more respect from us Muslims than his so-called followers, who ignore his preaching about tolerance and respect for fellow human beings.
Now weren't you hasty in your criticism of me? If you are a Christian, would you now ask for my forgiveness for jumping down my throat, as Jesus (pbuh) would want you to do. Even if you don't apologize, I forgive you for your IGNORANCE.
Those (of any religion) who minimize 9/11 do so simply because they lost no one, had no skin in the game, and view the issue in the abstract, not the concrete. Their opinions, while possibly valid, carry no weight. They are the Monday morning quarterbacks of life.
Those who lost family members, loved ones and/or friends - those whose lives are forever changed by the activities of Muslims on 9/11, supported (directly/indirectly) by our faux-friend, Saudi Arabia and condoned by a totally irrational interpretation of the Koran, those with real skin in the game and real standing to comment should be listened to most carefully. They paid their dues. Their opinions are, ultimately, the only ones that matter.
It has become so pitifully predictable that ANY forum like this on ANY topic whatsoever will, sooner or later, devlove into a banal, unimportant and counterproductive "debate" between republicans and democrts, between Bush supporters and non-supporters and, most recently, between those who support Obama and those who seem unable to accept the fact of the election and the implication of its outcome.
"National discourse" in this country has become an oxymoron.
My sisterly advice to you would be to ignore this eom guy. He is one of the many Islam haters and he views a response from us as an acknowledgment that he is someone worthy of a response. Don't waste your time on him.
Now go fetch your husband's slippers or he'll get out that whip :)
BTW, I have a whip of my own, (with a pair of handcuffs) that I keep beside the bed to sort of use on my hubby. ;)
I don't have any intention of leaving my angel of a husband. Sorry. I didn't mean to get so personal, bass aharooni bi kalaam-hum that we Muslim women are persecuted and abused, and that we are 2nd class citizens. Yaa Allah insurna 3ala kowm el kaafireen
This is ridiculous. I live in Michigan near (very near) the biggest Arab community (Dearborn) in the U.S. I lived here on 9/11 and I can tell everyone that Muslims were NOT taunted, called names or discriminated against as a whole. Sure there will always be idiots who may yell out something mean but there was not any news articles or shows explaining this terrible discrimination that Muslims were feeling. In fact, on the afternoon of September 11, 2001, there was dancing in the streets of Dearborn. A celebration of American death. And yet, there was no "notable" backlash towards Muslim or Arabs. I hope that all Muslims who are here feel welcome and I hope they appreciate all that America has to offer.
I am an American. I am a Muslim. I live by words like honor, respect, and dignity. I am a United States Marine. For those that spew hate against Muslims, know that I am protecting your freedom of speech to to say what you want. And No, I don't hate you. I pity you because you don't know how many American Muslims are normal people and the majority are hard working immigrants who came to this great land to make something of themselves. My parents are these immigrants. They came here with nothing and they became something. I shouldn't have to live in fear nor think that I am less than anyone else because I believe in my religion. To those that want to eliminate me and others Muslims off the face of the Earth, you are the same as Nazi's and I will make it my job to stop you at any cost. Period. And To those allies who come to the aid of American Muslims and defend our civil rights and liberties, thank you so very much, people like you are the epitome of a "Good American Citizen".
We don't want to eliminate you, Dark. We just want you and the hundreds of millions of other conservative and moderate Muslims to stand up and have the courage to criticize and condemn the actions of your fellow militant Muslims, the ones who want to turn the world into an Islamic kingdom ruled by Sharia Law.
Is that too much to ask? We haven't heard a peep from any of you, which to us indicates support for and/or the condoning of the killing of innocent people throughout the world by these Islamic terrorists. Your silence is deafening and causes Americans and others to distrust you and fear you.
You can help your cause the most by speaking out against those who threaten your cause. That would be your fellow militant Muslims.
I'm sorry Dark, but I forgot to thank you for your service to your country. My highest level of respect has always been for the Marines.
Please help yourself, the Muslim population and people throughout the world by speaking up against the Muslim militants. The ball is in your court and we can't help you as much as we would like to do so.
An American.. can believe in any religion that they choose. However American citizens that are in the Muslim faith right here in America, have not condone what Osama Bin Laden and his cult followers "world wide" believe in. Killing anyone who is not a Muslim. That is a fact. That is the Extremist or Radical Muslim's way. Now You, are a American Solder, who is sworn to protect against any threats foreign or domestic, yet.. you also will not stand up proudly.. even as a American Solder and say that this radical way of thinking and acting is wrong and this radical way of thinking is not what your religion is about? You just say that you are protecting our freedom of speech.. you say "I pity you because you don't know how many American Muslims are normal people" What do you expect when your own fellow Muslim AMERICAN believers and yourself, won't speak up Radical Islam! You are talked about how your family were hard working immigrants... were not talking about your family history.. were taking about what You and other Muslims here in the U.S.A not speaking up and side stepping the issue at hand.
Hey Dark Knight, thank you for your loyalty and your service. I saw plenty of Muslims in America and around the world condemn the actions of those hate-filled terrorists on September 11, 2001. Those who claim that did not happen have very selective memories.
I hope you, and your family, and all those who wish to live and worship in peace in our tolerant nation can do so forever. Whether you pray in the name of Jesus, or follow the teachings of Mohammed (peace be upon him) or honor your own conscience in your own way, there is room for you here--thanks to dedicated people who fight for our rights, or just go to work every day and obey the laws.
Dark. . .what the heck dude. . .who in the world is trying to "eliminate" you or the muslim world??? Thank you for your service to our country and for that you have my respect. I am a Christian and there has been plenty of tragic events in the name of Christianity but that does not make it right. I believe the contention is not with muslims like yourself but with those who are radical in nature who want to kill Americans or wipe out Israel. Can you see that point of view? The truth of the matter is the muslim community has done very little to help heal these wounds thru the years. And this is NOT just a September 11th issue. The United States has been under attack from militants since the hostages were taken in Iran in the late 70's and early 80's. Not to mention all the flights that have been bombed, beheadings, trains bombed, and hotels attacked. So my question is "who is trying to eliminate who?" Just as you disdain those who would judge you for your religous beliefs it is also just as contemptable to judge those who may have some misgivings about a sect of people that continue to attack this country and our interestes abroad. I think we all need to calm down and talk more and stop with the mindless threats that only continue to stir the pot of discontent in this great country.
"MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU FOR YOUR WORDS!!!" In a previous post Dark Knight said
"To those that want to eliminate me and others Muslims off the face of the Earth, you are the same as Nazi's and I will make it my job to stop you at any cost."
And now mdmiriam says "THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORDS!!!!!!" Are you kidding me!! Thank you for mdmiriam for proving everyone's point that you and those of your faith DO NOT CARE FOR THIS COUNTRY! You even go as far as to say his words are "words of wisdom!!"
America, I have had enough of this 6th century "pseudo religon of hate." If you people want to spread your hate, illogical way of thinking, kill people for your 72 virgins, and wage war on the free people of this world you have a couple HUGE problems: You "Allah" is FAKE and your religon is worthless. The second problem you have is the great country. You will not intimidate us, push us around, or force us to live as if it were 1500 years ago. If you want to wear a Burka in 100 degree weather in the desert go ahead, if you want to wrap towls around your head go for it, if you want to live peacefully in this country go right ahead. . . .but you idiotic practices and misguided belief system will not be forced on this country. So try this one on for size. . .screw your allah!!!
How can you write one decent post then totally change to hate? Bipolar?
You have just shown your stupidity. Allah and God are the same word but in 2 different languages. So i take it that you think God is fake? I Am 100% american, what did you learn in school or did you not go to school? Our ancestors came to this country to avoid religous persacution. Nobody is trying to force you to do anything. But maybe you would like to get rid of the catholics? the mormons? You call this a free country HA! you are no better then anyone else. But to be a free society i guess we all have to follow your rules. You have the makings of a dictator. May God forgive your ignorance.
No Erin I am just sick and tired of a religon that wants to "eliminate" us and then others that get on here and praise their god for that comment. . .in the wake of a day like today that tone does not set well with me. . .perhaps it does with you. And by the way before you start pointing fingers at people and crack the "I am holier than you attitude" I applaud you for beginning your post by name calling. May God forgive your arrogance.
Sorry jeff once again. But i am not holier than anyone. i am just saying we all pray to god. You know the one who is the creator of the heavens an earth. Also i tend to feel as you do the tone of your post did not set well with me either but hey its america. we are allowed to be stressed an express our freedom of speech. My nephew died in iraq fighting for their safety an freedom an yes he was a marine an no we are not of arabic decent. so excuse me plz for taking up for one of our men in uniform no matter his heritage
Erin. . .you have my deepest respect and sympathy for the loss of your nephew. . .days like this are heated and sometimes my toungue gets the best of me. My dad was in the service and I myself am an Air Force brat. So, I ask forgiveness for my harsh words to you.
Y'know when we look up the word "filth" in the dictionary, the meaning comes up as "jeff"
As for your comment about Allah, I'll only say a dua (prayer) to Him to deal justly with you when your sh*tty life is over. And believe me it won't be pretty.
Wanna know what Arabic-speaking xtians call their lord? Yep, Allah.
Wanna know what Arabic-speaking jews call their lord? Yep, Allah.
Seems I remember one big organized reaction.

We are afraid too, to leave our houses, on 9/11. This is laughable.
Are they the only ones afraid? Our country of citizens are really afraid.
Americans have to be vigilant watching out for another Terrrorist Attack, to signify this day of War on American soil.
Many are very worried about flying on a Commerical Airliner 9/11, or taking transportation in a soft target. Are they?
This news story re: the Muslims has no significant value.
Who cares?.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!
I've never seen an organized protest by muslims against radical islam anywhere in the world.
This war against terrorism is just a continuation of the Crusades,or what we once called the holy wars.
The muslims are determined and patient. They think in terms of generations and they wait for their moment.
Hey Boons. Before you go any further, please define what a Christian is and its true meaning .
DENNIS-540287, islam is a political ideology not a religion.
I have no sympathy for muslims on 911. They allowed their brothers to attack us, they are pushing in every state for special laws only for muslims.
They advocate Sharia Law in the US.
You can find proof of this at www.creepingsharia.com
They celebrated on 911.
We are scared too (9/11). Where is our story?
Orbust, you will not believe me, but the answer to your question of #1.39 is all around you.
You have the choice to review it or not.
.........................................................................................................................................
I'm not writing to make enemies today. I know my comment will incite some bullying, and that's cool. But before slamming me, please re-read my comment and observe the tone. I'm not calling anybody stupid, merely giving what I feel is the answer to a question.
.........................................................................................................................................
I do not feel sorry for them at all, only the American who was kill and their family.
to all Muslims in America I have a suggestion for you.
Publicly denounce the murders of innocents by bombs and other means by your religious extremest and stand against them it the world of public opinion.
It's not how you dress it is how you speak or don't speak that is telling
This is what happens to Muslims who publicly denounce the acts of terrorism in the name of Islam.
IN THE DISTRICT COURT IN AND FOR TULSA COUNTY STATE OF OKLAHOMA JAMAL MIFTAH, Plaintiff, CASE NO. CJ 2007-04083
vs.
ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF TULSA, an Oklahoma non profit corporation, ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF NORTH AMERICA, an Indiana non profit corporation, NORTH AMERICAN ISLAMIC TRUST, an Indiana non profit corporation, FAROOQ ALI, JAVED JALIWALA, SHERYL SIDDIQUI SANDRA RANA, TARIQ MASOOD, MUHAMMAD ASHWAIT, HOUSSAM ELSOUIESSI a/k/a ABU WALEED, MUJEEB CHEEMA and AHMAD KABBANI, individually and as Directors and Officers of the ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF TULSA and ABDULLAH ROE and NOORUDDIN DOE, Individually. Defendants.
ORIGINAL PETITION
COMES NOW, Jamal Miftah, Plaintiff, by and through his Attorney of Record, B. Kent Felty and would allege and prove the following:
JURISDICTION AND VENUE
1. Jamal Miftah is a legal permanent resident of the United States of America, the State of Oklahoma, the County of Tulsa.
2. Defendant the Islamic Society of Tulsa (hereinafter IST) is an Oklahoma Corporation with its principal place of business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Islamic Society of North America (hereinafter ISNA) and the North American Islamic Trust (hereinafter NAIT) are Indiana corporations doing substantial and continuous business and holding property in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
3. Defendants Farooq Ali, Javed Jaliwala, Sheryl Siddiqui, Sandra Rana, Tariq Masood, Muhammad Ashwait, Houssam Elsoueissi a/k/a Abu Waleed, Mujeeb Cheema and Ahmad Kabbani are residents of Tulsa County, Oklahoma and serve as Directors and Officers of the IST.
4. Defendants Abdullah Roe and Nooruddin Doe are believed to be members of the Tulsa Mosque and residents of Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
5. All of the events that form the basis of Jamal Miftah’s claims occurred in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
COUNT ONE - ASSAULT
1. On or about October 29, 2006 Jamal Miftah wrote an “op-ed” piece published in the Tulsa World calling on Muslim clerics and youth to forsake and stand against terrorists whose “heinous crimes (are) not pardonable by any religion and strictly forbidden in Islam.”
2. In the aforementioned op-ed piece Jamal Miftah also alleged that some mosques in the United States and around the world are being used to collect money for terrorists.
3. On or about November 18, 2006 Jamal Miftah went to the Tulsa Mosque owned and operated by the Defendants IST, ISNA and NAIT to offer his last prayer of the day (Ishaa prayer). Following prayers, the Iman of the Mosque, Ahmad Kabbani, a defendant herein, confronted Jamal Miftah in the Mosque and stated that he “should be ashamed” of the aforementioned op-ed piece, which was “anti-Islamic.”
4. Following the lead of Ahmad Kabbani, Houssam Elsouesssi, a defendant herein, and two other members of the Mosque, Abdullah Roe and Nooruddin Doe, defendants herein, confronted Jamal Miftah.
5. These three defendants screamed and shouted at Jamal Miftah, alleging that he was “anti Muslim†and a “traitorâ€, in an apparent attempt to incite a riot within the walls of the Mosque.
6. Abdullah Roe took his shoe off, waived said shoe and swung said shoe wildly at Jamal Miftah’s face, calling and shouting that that Jamal Miftah was “anti Muslim” and a “traitor.”
7. Jamal Miftah was put in imminent fear of serious bodily harm as the aforementioned defendants forced him into a wall.
8. Jamal Miftah was at that point rescued by another member of the Mosque and led outside of the Mosque.
COUNT TWO - DEFAMATION
9. Paragraphs one (1) through thirteen (13) are incorporated by reference.
10. The day after the assault noted above, Jamal Miftah received word through a member of the Mosque (not a defendant herein) that a Temporary Restraining Order had been issued against him, sworn to by Houssam Elsouessi, and that the restraining order would be removed if he issued a public apology for the op-ed piece, deemed to be “anti Muslim” and “anti Islamic” by the mosque leadership.
11. On November 20, 2006 the Mosque Leadership, met and issued a direction (fatwa) to members of the Mosque - ordering them to call the Tulsa Police Department in the event Jamal Miftah returned to the Mosque, unless or until Jamal Miftah issued a public apology for his published opinion, which was anti Islamic and anti Muslim.
12. Jamal Miftah responded that the Mosque leadership must rescind its fatwa, alleging he was anti Muslim and anti Islamic and directing his expulsion from the Mosque.
13. On November 24, 2006 a local TV channel published the story of Jamal Miftah’s expulsion from the Mosque. Within that story the Mosque leadership alleged that Miftah was being expelled because he was “loud” and that he would be allowed to return when he apologized, privately, to the Members and Leadership of the Mosque.
14. On November 29, 2006, Sandra Rana, a defendant herein, published a statement where she alleged that Jamal Miftah was physically removed from the Mosque after he threatened violence and cursed during a “discussion” of his published opinion. Rana stated that Jamal Miftah could attend prayers without restriction so long as acted in an “appropriate manner.”
15. On December 1, 2006 the Mosque leadership issued a statement lifting the “ban” on Jamal Miftah “as long as there is no disturbance and that no one at the Mosque should confront him.”
16. By reason of the published statements of the Defendants, alleging that Jamal Miftah is “a traitor” - anti Muslim, anti Islamic” Jamal Miftah has been injured in his good name and brought into public disgrace and infamy in the Muslim community.
17. By reason of the published statements of the Defendants, alleging that Jamal Miftah is “a traitor - anti Muslim - anti Islamic- Jamal Miftah’s life has been put in danger in the sense that he has been labeled apostate from the Muslim Religion by the Defendants and vulnerable to the death penalty in Muslim countries and/or vigilante justice in his adopted homeland.
COUNT THREE - INTENTIONAL INFLICTION OF EMOTIONAL DISTRESS
18. Paragraphs one (1) through twenty two (22) are incorporated by reference.

Good day.

I do not feel sorry for them at all, only the American who was kill and their family.
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind,
I tell them there's no hurry...I'm just sitting here doing time,
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll, No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go."--John Lennon
I'm not blind to the problem of racism. I just choose to ignore empty cries for sympathy when there is none to be had or deserved.
Ula:
It is the Americans that have to worry, not you.
Think not.
"The enemy from within".
Roberta,
Well said. Your post is far Rational and Logical than most stupid bigots in this column. Smile.
By any chance Are you single? ROFL.
Salam.
Good point Roberta. But both sides have to open up to understanding for things to work out that way. When a Muslim tries to speak out about what is wrong with the religious beliefs of terrorists and is shunned by those in his own mosque in this country, what are the rest of us left to believe about Islam?
Jews, Christians, Atheist etc weren't the only ones to lose family members in the 9/11 attack. Muslims did too.
What happened in that masjid shouldn't have. Terrorism is against Islam and if people do think it's okay they are ignorant of the teachings because what happened was the murder of innocent people and the punishment and sin for that is on the people who helped it to happen and the people who did the deed.
Muslims against terrorism (google it, you can find many condemnations of terrorism)

Roberta:
Their agenda is to kill you.
zapain,
You said:
Inta b-titkalam Arabi, mosh hayk? Min fadhlak, Could you please say the above sentence in ARABIC? I'm interested in your pronounciation. Shukran.
It's hard to say "why can't we all just get along" because we have other fellow Americans who are in their own planet of views of Muslim-Americans.. so sad.
Just Muslims is ok. Unless you feel compelled to call people Christian-Americans.
The Christian community never came out and apologized for what Tim McVeigh did, either.
H-D,
The comment was pretty clearly about there being no need to make them hyphenated americans. Its also a lot more inclusive since the article was not soley about Americans but any Muslim.
I don't care WHY McVeigh did it. He DID it and he's christian.
@ boons_orama:
So, shouldn't facts be used?
actually, tim mcveigh's actions are a good reason to watch these so-called "patriot" groups very closely.
Jeff-393477
Boons-Orama
"The Christian community never came out and apologized for what Tim McVeigh did, either."
Maybe, but they did CONDEM it, very, very LOUDLY.
I'll bet Obama set this article up--he is a secret Muslim, you betcha.
usaf vet,
If (IF) Muslims do anything at all, (there is suspicion that outside forces (mossad and american intelligence) commit these so-called bombings and PIN IT ON MUSLIMS.
BWA-HA-HA-HA!
The MOST IDIOTIC THING I have heard you say YET!
Oh, yeah, Jews and American intelligence agents are going to strap bombs on themselves and blow up civilians just to make muslims look bad.
UTTER IDIOCY!!!
oh,yeah, the mossad blew up the twin towers. BWA-HA-HA-HA!
TOTAL BS!
Per the article: "Some Muslims are convinced that if the U.S. is hit with another terrorist attack, the government will put them in internment camps".
Normally I would be very opposed to such a thing. But in mdmiriam's case, always there with some rant - an exception should be made.
addiem, I too, would be strongly against such a measure. but maybe a few exceptions should be made....
McVeigh didn't act on behalf of fundamentalist Christian sensibilities either.
when you try to defend the Islamic faith, remember that when it was formed around 640 AD, It's Leader was known for his 'method' of making anyone that disagreed with him 'disappear'.
If you want to argue this, first read their Book.
We should do to the muslims here in the States exactly what we did to the Japanese at WWll,,,, ROUND THEM ALL UP and sort them out at our leisure! The bad ones should be shot, plain and simple! The good should be set free.
Stupidity,
Appropriate name there.
Semper Fi !!!!
One Who Is Always Faithful
H-D
Semper Fi!
danwill and addiem,
We've had our run-ins and here's another one:
Thank you Jeff very well stated.
md - allah, schmallah, lol.
Semper Fi, Mac.
addiem,
i don't give a sh*t what you say. Ignore button pushed.
Well, all terrorist are muslims!!!
That fact stands and can not be change.
I wonder where is tyler the moderator is at now, cause I'm pretty sure people are agreeing with this FACT, except for tyler, the bigot moderator.
(And I know not all muslims are terrorist.)
Seems you've all forgotten that very important bible verse: "Judge not lest ye be judged." (Matthew 7)
dragonlady,
That's a load of dragon sh*t. Was tim mcveigh Muslim. What about the columbian donkey bombers? What about the ira. Were they Muslims? or CHRISTIAN TERRORISTS?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32809264/ns/world_news-americas
What about the "TERRORISTS" that blow up post offices and universities and abortion clinics? What about David Koresh? Were they Muslims? NOPE. You make me want to puke.
You are ignorant beyond belief. Go do a little dragon hunting. Oh, there goes one..oo oo.
Bless you Roberta,
For speaking the truth. Not all will WANT to believe what you said. Simply because they WANT to remain bigots. It takes a lot of effort to LEARN. Not to much effort to stay IGNORANT.
Roberta,
Listen to yourself.
Even after decades the same goes (probably to a lesser extent) for Japanese-Americans on December 7th.
We have long memories it seems.
The ignorant will find things to obsess about, and the hateful will find people to hate. We as a whole are better than that, I think.
Oh and the books who danced in the streets and celebrated the first anniversary of then attacks.

http://edition.cnn.com/2001/US/09/20/cnn.statement/index.html
Although it is true not all should be judged by actions of a few. Those few though deserve all the judging they get.
The Japanese make a big deal in August to remember and remid the world of the dropping of 2 atomic weapons on their cities but fail to mention to anyone about their own actions and atrocites during WW2.
Mac-295039
Hey H-D-78109 ,,,, the oldest book know to man,,, "an eye for and eye".
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth....and pretty soon everybody will be gumming their dinners while blindly searching for a fork...
Based on the majority of "christian" posts here, count me as one proud agnostic...:(
German and italian Nationals were not rounded up and put into concentration camps. Difference being that they looked like the US citizens; the Japanese nationals of course looked different.
Christianity has a long history of rendering injustices to their fellow man. They aren't entirely innocent.
@ Richie:
Write an article about me. Every time I get on an airplane I dread someone will crash it into a building.
How do you know I don't? Besides, what does me dieing in a car accident have to do with Muslims, terrorism, my change of perception of flying since 09/11/01, or this article? Or were you just trying to be pithy?
DJ,
"Mowdecker,
But you don't obsessively dread getting in a car and having the "privilege" of being killed by another American via a car accident."
It helps if you understand that one is most likely an accident while the other was most definitely intentional. Do you see the difference?
Thanks, for the clarification.
Yes, believe it or not, I do dread "getting murdered by another American".
I hope the banality of my statement emphasizes the stupidity of yours.
Modecker,
Why did you jump all over the ones telling you that you can also die in a car ACCIDENT?
Christians commit crimes every day in this country. I want an apology from every Christian from now until the end of time.
It is easier then to mass murder them in their countries without raising a public outcry here at how our tax dollars are being spent.
boons_orama-131388
Don't hold your breath, life is not always the way we would want it to be ....And I'm not religious, people blame each other religions, it's just another cop out, it's the people that do the deeds .....
But they don't commit those crimes out of Christian sensibilities now do they?
dew.... ever heard of abortion docs?.... ETC...ETC...ETC...... get REAL !!!!!!!
dewinter: Does the name Timothy McVey ring a bell? How about David Koresh? Jim Jones? Oh, and there was the "Christian Soldier" who mowed down a bunch of Wiccans and Unitarians last summer because liberal religions offended his sensibilities. Oh, and the murderers of Matthew Sheppard were good ol' southern compassionate Christians.
The only reason why Christianity isn't as violent as Islam is because we have secular law here. In Islamic nations, they would have much less violence if they adopted secular law. It's really that simple.
Indigo,
"Oh, and the murderers of Matthew Sheppard were good ol' southern compassionate Christians."
You are aware that he was killed in a robbery gone bad by two drug adicts, don't you? Turns out it had nothing to do with him being a homo. At least get your facts right when you try and post something to support your argument. Otherwise you just look stupid.
Why is it that most people understand not all of islam is terrorist, but most who aren't Christian think Christians are all the same, evil?
No... most people who aren't Christians understand that there's nothing wrong with the practice of Christianity but most Christian "leaders" are full of sh!t.
In today's world, not all moslems are terrorists but most terrorists are moslems. Just like sixty years ago, not all christians were klansmen but most klansmen were christians.
Wrong Catzjammer,
Not nearly even most Muslims are terrorists.
Only hateful people plant seeds of hatred.
Julian
Dude
Peach,
You lost all credibility when you tried to justify hatred for all Muslims.
There are over a billion muslims in the world. 19 perpetrated 9/11. Blaming them all is sick.
And how many were saudi?? Oh yeah, thats right, 18 of them. Where is the home of Islam, Oh yeah, Saudi Arabia. Not all muslims are terrorists, that is true. However, it is hard to deny that there is a significant and virulent portion of the members of that religon that wouldnt hesitate to use any means at their disposal to attack us.
boons_orama-131388
I think that since no Muslims denonced the terrorist actions how can we not think you all think the same, I have seen no Muslim attempt to capture these terrorist, and look at how many countries are having problems with Muslim terrorist, why are they all Muslims?
dude it doesn't operate like a Vatican and all, its like Christian holy sites are in Jerusalem so does that make you directly responsible for the holocaust of the Palestinians by the Israelis?
We are Muslims not Moslems!
Same thing.
The old census used to call you Mohammedans, which is kindof my personal favorite.
YWCO8
Dwater - post of the day.......
At least that part I can agree on.
peach,
Bush is owed a couple of shoe smeared with sh*t, hitting him in his beady eyes.
Thank you Starbuck49, you beat me to the punch. There are Muslim Americans who have died fighting for this country.
Why are the Muslim-Americans and not American-Muslim. If they want to be an American that should be what they are.
masterepper
The same way of the African Americans and not the other American Africans. There's no difference, but you seem to object to that way for certain religions.
Why do Irish-Americans not call themselves American-Irish? Same with Italian-Americans, and so forth.
That's true I don't call myself a Hawaiian American, I'm just an American, if you're a true American be proud of that .....
We call our selves Muslim Americans because, when we die we will stop being American but we will always be Muslim....We are Muslim first..
Either an immigrant who lives here is a full American, or else they should be living in their own country of origin.
This country is already too divided. American, American, American. Understand? We also don't need thousands of new languages here, either. Speak and learn English.
My touch pad on my phone has enough numbers already for different languages.
'what about Americans having to worry about crazy radicals pulling some kind of attack on Americans.'
Idiot, the muslims ARE americans that worry about crazy radicals abusing their religion and attacking their country.
I think the idea of calling them Muslim-Americans is silly. It's a religion, not an ethnic term.
Cathy: I understand where you're coming from. As a Wiccan, my faith is paramount. I'm also a patriotic American. However, if I moved to England, I'd no longer be an American but I'd still be a Wiccan.
brtidea:
When using the word "idiot" while making a responding comment, one has already lost the debate.
cbrownohio,
ohio, that says a lot about you.
McVeigh was a homegrown pumpkin with a plan and a bomb.
He was more of a fruit than a vegetable mega lol

Advocating killing U.S. government workers and memebers of the Senate and Congress on a U.S. website. Brilliant.

Tyler: Very, VERY smart decision. We need more treasonous bigots like we need more deficit spending.
pogodog7, you should stand up for what you believe in, even if it means getting you ban. Just report tyler to the newsvine like I did. He disagree with your comment but calling you a bigot thats just more ridiculous.
Tyler, i don't mind you disagreeing with other people and deleting their post, but when you just start to call people bigot thats just wrong in my definition.
I didn`t do it ...really ..lol
Another MSNBC crap article. To all Muslims in America by all means please leave your houses and stimulate the economy! We need your help now more than ever!!
The only violent Muslims I've ever met are the piece-of-crap "prison converts". But the Baptist "prison converts" are equally worthless.

Some catholic women cover their hair. Some use the hijab to cover their hair.
Every single one of them should rot in hell!
Amen to that.

Starbuck and Stella,
As a liberal, gay man, I, too, once thought that Muslims were a peace loving people.
It's their laws and government, not the people.
ragin bull,
What you haven't seen is what you refuse to see.
G Scott
"What you haven't seen is what you refuse to see. Google "islamic condemnation of terrorism" if you are willing. Tens of thousands of muslims around the world condemning terorrists and their abuse of religious teachings."
Wow! That would mean that .00825% of Muslims spoke out. What about the other 99.99175%? You might want to stop now. You're not very good at this.

Amen to that !!!
Try making yourself a new tin foil hat, you'll feel better.
Merlin you had me until your second paragraph. Its all downhill from there.
Seeking,

Merlin,
I second the amen to that.
The intelligence services couldn't have been very strong to begin with if they let 9/11 happen.
Your right boons, they werent after your boy President Clinton got done gutting...well everything.
They do criticize it. EVERY YEAR.
http://www.masnet.org/news.asp?id=2648
All you gotta do is look it up. That's just one link.
Google "Muslim groups denounce 9/11 attacks" and be amazed.
But I guess it's easier to work off preconceived notions than actual facts.
Barbara,
On the surface what you suggest seems reasonable however I really wouldn't expect it to happen in any widespread public manner.
I don't see how you can do a legitimate dissertation on some of these.
barbara,
Not that I need to oblige you, you may want to read this: http://www.masnet.org/news.asp?id=2648
Be prepared to sit there for a while doing so.
btw, I don't place much faith that you will rid your hatred even after PROOF of the condemnation by Muslims against attrocities. Where is your condemnation of those thousands who are killed by drunk drivers here in this country? Where is your outcry against alcohol consumption. You do know that it is forbidden in ISLAM.
Where is your condemnation of all those little boys whose butts were busted by priests and pastors who are hypocritically xtian?
can't heeeeer you.
Bless you Mel.
finally a perspective i can respect! Mel you are by far one of the few intelligent persons on this page.
It took a great deal of money, power, and government orchestration for 9/11 to happen.
now the muslims know how the blacks felt every day of their lives for many years.
Aren't most of American-Muslims black?
No. You are ignorant. Go somewhere and read something besides the comics. First go learn to read. You've got to be some happy blissful camper.
Not felt, still feel!

I can think of a few things I'd have asked that woman, but it's not fit to print here.
I feel so bad for that lady. Why do people feel the need to be so rude and why do they feel it's okay to subject others to it?
If I were the manager I would have kindly asked that woman to leave the store and never return.
I love it when I am at the grocery store and grown men will walk past my daughters and I and say terrorists....it is amazing....
'The manager finished ringing up the customers things'
Azshole, why didn't he kick that b tch right to the curb.
OH yah, I forgot, you must worship the Almighty Dollar the true god of this christian nation.
Have you seen the current value of the $$$ - soon we shall all be trading in Yen - just because of a war that is not justified - We should have let the Barbarians in Iran and Afganistan figure the world (or not) for themselves.
Merrygirl,
Because Satan has a grasp on them so tight, that restricts the blood flow to their vital organs (brain and heart) that deal with logic and compassion.
tyler-890914
I believe Americans are not hateful as a whole, it's too bad there are few who ruin it for all.
cathy,
Salaamu alaykum sis,
That's nothing.
Salaam. Hang in there.
md - "Because Satan has a grasp on them so tight, that restricts the blood flow to their vital organs (brain and heart) that deal with logic and compassion." Now, that's funny.
Merry: It's always good to be able to call 911 if needed. I always carry cell phone too.
Indigo,
Muslims don't care that you are not worshipping Allah or that you worship or NOT worship at all.
May Allah bless you too.
Thanks, md. Blessings to you as well.
Salaam Tony,
Are you really sure that a "Muslim" told you that.
26 deleted, boomer812 with the 'don't trust the towel heads' rhetoric. You're suspended for a day for violating #5 of the Code of Honor. Cut it out.
...
Perhaps you would not consider them a Muslim, but they self-identified as one. Lots of people who do deplorable things consider themselves religious.
Linny,
I forgive you for your ignorance.
It all depends on whose ox is/was/will be gored
Linny lol hi again (pbuh) stands for peace be upon him. Incase you didnt know.
Salaamu alaykum Erin,
My sisterly advice to you would be to ignore this eom guy. He is one of the many Islam haters and he views a response from us as an acknowledgment that he is someone worthy of a response. Don't waste your time on him.
Now go fetch your husband's slippers or he'll get out that whip :)
BTW, I have a whip of my own, (with a pair of handcuffs) that I keep beside the bed to sort of use on my hubby. ;)
salaam.
My goodness, You one sick muslim lady. ROFL. If by any reason you became single, call me. Smile. Okay. Salam.
SA,
Salaamu alaykum bro,
I don't have any intention of leaving my angel of a husband. Sorry. I didn't mean to get so personal, bass aharooni bi kalaam-hum that we Muslim women are persecuted and abused, and that we are 2nd class citizens. Yaa Allah insurna 3ala kowm el kaafireen
Ramadan Kareem and Eid Mubaraarak, insha'Allah.
Could you clarify who are persecuting the muslim ladies ? Thanks.
Yum al qiyama Alla sayuhaseb alkaferin. Salam.
Trish,
Did you go to Fordson High School by any chance? Is that Montgomery Ward Store still on Michigan Avenue?
Semper Fi,
A US MUSLIM MARINE
Xie xie, Mr. X.
Let us not make room for hate.
Dark. . .what the heck dude. . .who in the world is trying to "eliminate" you or the muslim world???
Ramadan Mubarak and thank you for your service to this great country!
Salaamu alaykum Dark Knight.
May Allah bless you and your family. Jazaak Allah khair (May Allah Reward You) for your words of wisdom and for your service.
Ramadan and Eid Mubarak.
Ramadan Mubarak, Thank you for your service to our country. The Dark Knight
Jeff
So, I ask forgiveness for my harsh words to you.
jeff,
Y'know when we look up the word "filth" in the dictionary, the meaning comes up as "jeff"
Yep, Allah.
You show you just keep showcasing your intolerance miriam.
You show you just keep showcasing your intolerance miriam.
