A Pennsylvania toddler did such a remarkable job of hiding during a game of hide-and-seek that the family had to call police and firefighters to help find her.

Where's that child locator collar in the Duracell commercial when you need it?
oh you gotta love those things. i remember when i had a leash for myself as a child about 11 years back =]..hats off to the greatest game ever invented..possibly better than football..hah
thanks for wasting the police and firefighter's time, hope they get a bill. glad there wasn't a real emergency while you were too stupid and lazy to find your kid.
Don't be so sore. Better to waste police and firefighter's time because she's OK than to actually have them employed looking for her remains.
cmon-864012
You must not have kids since they can slip away from you at any time. Just what do you think those people's taxes go for. The police are just happy when they have a happy ending. Police and firemen are here to "serve" and protect and that includes all citizens no matter what age. Now getting cats out of trees is taking it to extreme but finding lost kids is part of the job.
Better to waste police and firefighter's time because she's OK than to actually have them employed looking for her remains.
You really posted that?
OMG!!! SOME OF YOU PEOPLE ARE REALLY UNBELIEVEABLE!!!We actually had a happy ending and you are saying rude comments because they called the police, if they had of waited she could have been dead maybe locked somewhere with no air then you would have said why didn't call the police i am very happy they found their kid and furthermore if you read the story the police couldn't find her either so its not like shes was somewhere anybody could see her to you obivously hateful people you need pray i am praying for all you this is a great story and i pray more missing kids stories are just flukes also
um you are a @!$%#ing moron it could have easily been a REAL emergency wasnt too long ago a little kid died playing hide n seek, she could have been kidnapped, a number of things could have happened.. so you are an idiot.. go @!$%#ing walk into traffic...
Cmon you weren't hugged as a child much and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the kids you played with were right when they picked your bitchy moany ass last to play in any game.....if they even let you play at all.
justsomekid was right. You need to go @!$%#ing walk into traffic and do us all a favor.
That was some serious hide & seek. Most 2 year olds would give themselves away after about 2 minutes..... Wonder how she got the drawer shut?
My daughter scared the crap out of my mom doing that. They were at a baby shower at my mom's work and Brianna was hiding in an empty office, they coudln't find her for about 30 or so minutes. They finally heard her giggling when they were calling for her. I think she was 2 1/2 at the time.
This child has a future in locating lost people. I think they should put her on the Jimmy Hoffa case. She'd probably find him. /end sarcasm
I've hidden from my parents for hours on top of hills, under the car... they knew I wasn't going to just leave. Once I hid in a hole dug for a house that was never built and made a fort. Ban hide and seek? How about supervise your kids, lazy.
They forgot to ban "peek a boo" as well.
"Supervise your kids, lazy"? Come ON!!! Can a parent not go to the bathroom or something?
However, I don't think the hide-and-seek should be banned, but maybe a frank discussion on where NOT to hide and when PARENTS call you, ANSWER.
But, REALLY, give the parents a break!
They're lazy because they didn't check everywhere.
auteur - you are full of it. Go do something more meaningfull with your life rather than comment on something you have no knowledge about......
I hope you lighten the F- up!
So she's a champion hide and seek player, that's no reason to ban it. LOL. Thank goodness they found her
this is news?? This has probably happened to almaost every parent on the planet to some extent, the kid would have woke up and got out of the drawer or they wopuld have heard her crying, big deal
@ JD-1035834
Thank You! Why is this news? Total waste of time, who cares about some kid that hid TOO well during hide and seek. I did that to my parents all the time and I was never in the news.
You reporters really need to start doing your jobs, reporting REAL news to us.
But what would they put in the spaces between the ads?
I'd rather read this than more stories about Todd Studley, Lana Luscious, Biff Speedo, and all the other "Beautiful Celebrities and Sports Stars."
For once some child was missing and the story had a happy ending? I'm TRULY happy to see a story like this. I wish all stories about missing people (especially kids) would end so well.
BTW, Natalie Jasmer, you're the all time hide and seek champion! Kudos!
Send her to SERE Training. But seriously, I did the same thing as a kid. I hid in my toy box and fell asleep. Scared the hell out of my mom.
UGH, While I read this article I kinda giggled. Thinking of my son at 3 years of age & almost the same situation. I had pretty much forgotten the incident. He graduated this past May. After reading some of the comments here on newsvine the smile was wiped off my face. Mousy5: Lazy? Pffft. It may not have been an extremely News worth story to you JD but then why read it and then comment on it?
Newsworthy: Not really
Memory of my son & a smile: Priceless!
Your exactly right. It may not be news but I giggled about it. It's nice to get news that may not be news worthy but is happy and good. I would rather read this good humored stuff than news about death, destruction and dispare.
Those of you criticizing in a negative fashion - If it isn't news worthy and you don't appreciate it being on the news - don't read about and don't waste time commenting about it as well.
Exactly! and it's wonderful news that this child was found safe and sound. So glad she didn't suffocate in that drawer under the washer too!
Point of story: It's newsworthy b/c people are always complaining to the media: "Why don't you ever print articles about the GOOD things!". Also, it makes parents think about what things in and around their homes that a child could hide in/under and what steps should be taken to safeguard them.
I DID laugh, too because I "lost" one of my kids playing hide-and-seek for about 1/2 hour because she had fallen asleep too! (Of course I wasn't laughing at the time, but considering whether I should call for help!)
I have to agree....I can just IMAGINE the comments if the headline was "Toddler found dead after hide and seek went wrong"......I LOVE HAPPY STORIES....RUN AWAY NEGATIVE NANCIES!
Oh the nightmare lives on. Hide n seek has been banned from our home for the same reason. My son hid under a couch for 30min, I had the who street looking for him. It was scary, to scary!!!
That little stinker!! I hope the dog got a great big bone!
Might as well ban "peek-a-boo" too.
What if you never removed your hands from covering your eyes?
I was lost for hours one time when we had a rookie baby-sitter!
We got in so much trouble when the parents got home and she was still covering her eyes!
My daughter and I were playing hide and seek and the same thing happened! Except she fell asleep in the laundry basket in our closet! She had put the clothes on top of herself to hide, so when I was frantically looking for her (and I did look in that closet!), I could not see her! I was in tears! I finally went back through the whole house and found her in the basket, after I heard her snoring! I wanted to spank the s**t out of her, but all I did was pick her up and hold her for hours!
Wish I would have had a dog to find her at that time! The dog should get lots of bones for finding the child!
This brought back a memory and a big smile for the day!
For the person who thinks this story is not newsworthy -- sometimes it is nice to hear non-news and smile when you read the paper or net feeds. We too rarely hear good things or sweet things!!
I remember watching a friend's daughter. She was about two or so at the time. Anyways, we were playing hide and seek. She hid under the coach. Now realize that I was not experienced with little ones at the time. I looked and looked and looked for her. I was hysterical when I called her mother and told her I could not find her. Her mom came home and in two minutes found the little girl fast asleep under the coach. Apparently the little one had done it before and her mom was able to anticipate her hiding place. Looking back it is funny. At the time it was both terrifying and horrifying. It did help me when I had my own son. He was a pretty good hider also. :-) Sometimes I long for those days.
Siblings put her in there. Guaranteed. Oldest of 6, here.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
My younger brother was a pro at this!! He would crawl into the strangest places and just fall asleep. One time he fell asleep under a recliner and he would usuall fall asleep at supper and wind up in his plate!! Funny, brings back memories!!! Thanks!
My son used to fall asleep in his dinner plate. I called him 'The Dormouse' after the Alice in Wonderland characters.
To and anyone else that doesn't think this is news...
I too believe it is nice to see something and refreshing..sorry that you would rather have read that the child was found dead in a freezer or a trunk of a car due to a fun game of hide and seek with thier siblings.
Shame on you
Good for you Smokie. But so many people would rather read about Bradley Pitt and Helium Lips and what they're up to. Or maybe what "Sports Star" is doing drugs, or that another Celebrity has "come out of the closet."
I don't want to....I could go the rest of my life not hearing about celebrities and I could be happy...Their lives don't affect me...
"Hide-and-seek is now banned in the Jasmer household."
They're just sore losers.
This whole incedent could have been avoided if the family would just have yelled "olly olly outs in free". No Kid could resist that call and the gratification of winning.
We used to play Hide and seek over our whole block as kids. There were plenty of us in the neighborhood, and winning was supreem. Times were simpler/safer then (60's)
I thought it is spelled, "olly olly oxen free."
The kid was sleeping, she wouldn't have heard it.
While I was reading this story it brought back memories for our family. Same thing happened with my nephew and niece, but he was found in the linen closet under blankets...and I do think we should have child locators. Maybe some type of implant when they are born. You would never lose a child again.
Ra, N.O.
Good lord! All of you people who are so quick to label bad parents need to take a week actually being a parent and then see just how easy you think it is.
Been a parent for a long time (at least it seems that way to me) and you'd think by now that there couldn't be any way left for them to surprise me. But every few minutes, days, weeks; they always find a way. Don't get me wrong, they're not bad kids.... But they got a habit of keeping my wife and I on our toes.
Ban the game? Rubbish! I was thinking "I wonder if she hid under a sink or in a cabinet?" My brother hid under a sink once and we didn't find him. Later, when he was an armed rent-a-cop backing up some real cops, he found an escaped convict hiding under a sink with a large knife! A policeman had just searched the room and declared, "he can't be in here." :-)
Gotta be really sad, when a TWO YEAR OLD can outsmart the PARENTS, huh????
No wonder they banned hide-n-seek...........They don't wanna look like idiots.....
Like Carlos Mencia says.......DEE DEE DEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carlos Mencia is awesome.
Umm, did you read the whole story? The two year old "outsmarted" the police and firefighters as well. I think everyone who is saying anything negative about the parents must not have children of their own! So, please, if you don't know what it is like raising a child, don't make stupid comments. The parents look like idiots? I'm thinking that someone else is looking like an idiot....
That's funny.
The little girl told her family she was sorry. Hide-and-seek is now banned in the Jasmer household.
Those parents are idiots. Banning the game because their little girl is such a good hider? I'd be proud if she were my daughter. Those parents need to get a grip.
Oh please, it's a joke ending to a funny story. Get a grip.
My cousin did something simalir when we were kids, he hid in the garage behind a folding table that was leaning up agaist the wall, with just enough space between the studs for him to wedge himself. Then he fell asleep! He was found about an hour later by family members however. So funny.
In case you can't read, at the top of the comment I said, "That's funny."
Must be a slow news day.
Hasn't a celebrity died today?
Isn't there war going on somewhere?
Maybe we should all go outside and get some exercise.
How did the child get the drawer closed with herself in it? Sounds like she had help. I think those drawers need childproof locks.
glad she was okay. my daughter took off at a department store (she had Down Syndrome and ADHD) and had the whole store looking for her....she was hiding under the long pants in the women's dept. i would rather read a story with a good outcome, than one more about m. jackson. it is also refreshing to read something different than politics, terrorism, financial ruin, scandal, and assorted debaucheries. if you don't find it newsworthy, don't read it.
