#1- The nuts who currently scream "GLOBAL WARMING" are the same nuts who in the 70s screamed "THE ICE AGE IS COMING". In other words, agenda driven nutjobs.

#2- Remember the dinosaurs? the Earth was 20-25 degrees warmer back then, and guess what? WE WEREN'T THERE to cause it. It is called global climatic changes, and part of nature. 10,000 years ago was an ice age, and Ug the caveman didn't cause the planet to get warmer, NATURE DID IT.

#3- These two things lead me to conclude that the only way to stop global climate change is to destry the culprit, NATURE, HERSELF. They picked this location no doubt, because it would garner attention. The article even said they used existing anchors, likely to minimize any possible damage. They probably knew they would get six months and planned for the stay. They didn't hurt the sculpture, and there is no way to endanger visitors from where they were at, as you can only go as close as the observation deck. They don't let you go in the tunnels anymore (I went in 91) or anywhere near the face, unless you pay for the super expensive helicopter tour.

Their goal is to be a pain in the A to governments and corporations in order to lessen enviornmental impact. What is wrong with that as long as nobody gets hurt? These two entities have time and again resisted common sense and the will of the people, so if this helps, then I think they are great.

And you don't "believe" in global warming. It isn't a religion, it is a fact. Oil is composed of tiny organisms that consumed carbon millions of years ago. It took them millions of years to do it, die, and fall the bottom of the ocean, where many turned to oil. Coal is the carbon left over from plants. If you dig these up and burn them, you release the carbon that was stored all these millennia. Carbon in the atmosphere traps solar radiation, causing heat.

There are tons of books written on this. Books written by Phd's and not politicians. They aren't asking you to believe anything. They are proving it to you, in no uncertain terms, that we are contributing to a negative environmental impact. If you can't see it, then you probably haven't spent enough time in nature. If you can't read the proof, then you probably haven't spent enough time in a classroom.

Go enroll at your local community college and take the natural geography course. Then go to the top of the closest mountain and apply what you have learned. Then you can come back here and amaze all your friends by not sounding like an idiot.

In addition, I would like to add that for Greenpeace, it all is about nothing more than membership fees and $$. Like all other interest groups, they do not want their agenda to succeed. That would render them obsolete and cause them to no longer to exist. They need to keep fighting for their cause so their revenue $tream continues. The term nnonprofit is a joke. Someone, somewhere (or several someones) profits from Greenpeace and others like it. That banner was not free. The supplies they used to post it were not free. The organizers of the event and the people who run Greenpeace do not work for free.

Second, how is Obama all of the sudden a "green" savior? I really want to know. Someone please reply and send a link or some info on how one of his policies, stimulus spending, laws or acts is unique to him and has furthered the spread of global warming or minimized damage to the environment. Please make it something real, not just a policy that caused the alleged environmentally dangerous act to be moved from the US to China or Mexico where it will be carried out tenfold.

I agree that this is a criminal act, and those that were involved should face prosecution. But eco-terrorism? Its not like they blew up the faces. Additionally, Greenpeace is an international organization so taking away their non-profit status in the United States would hurt fundraising for a time, but would not stop them and what they do - right or wrong.

As to the posts about global warming - cite the science (and not just one or two oil-funded apologias) that negates it. Yes, there are long term climate fluctuations throughout history that are natural. But is there anyone that can honestly argue against the data that demonstrates that human activity has sped up this natural process? If someone is excited about a return to the Cretacious, then great, continue to fight against climate change regulations. But to argue that climate is static and cannot be impacted by human activity? Take your head out of the sand.

Greenpeace activists should/will be judged/punished for their act. But that won't stop them. Regardless of what we think about any of their actions, they have shown amazing tenacity.

Remember back about twenty five years ago when the French government blew up the "Rainbow Avenger," the Greenpeace ship? Greenpeace got another one. Greenpeace survived the Reagan years when everyone saw them as dangerous subversives, and they will survive a few of their committed members going to jail. They could even survive being outlawed as a public organization in the US. They are global, and their message resonates with a lot of people.

A more effective means of dealing with them (as opposed to putting them in a cell with ultra-nationalist Bubba) would be to seriously listen to them as a group. If you hate them, remember that you should keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Make them a part of the solution instead of a group to fight against.
