To admit that this might be possible would be admitting that she was duped by him. I believe it's more to save face than anything else. I think many women who "stand by their man" are not fooled. They only do not want to admit what they likely already know. Apparently, there was enough evidence to arrest this guy and that should have made her examine things more closely and realize that perhaps she fell for a guy who was not what he claimed to be. She should be thankful he didn't kill her, but hopefully in time, she will see the light.

Research now shows as many as 1 in every 100 people may be a sociopaths. Their brains are wired differently-they do not experience remorse. This girl needs to wake up from the illusion of wedded bliss and realize her fiance is an alleged killer. She needs to run the other way and thank God she can take her life in another direction.

Just how naive is this girl? Shouldn't her father and her family start to face the facts? Once the "true story" and details become public, I'm sure she will feel destroyed and so betrayed. Psych, the BPDs tend to hurt themselves, instead of others. BPDs wreak havoc on family members and the people around them, but do it indirectly. In the "cluster B" department, NPDs and BPDs do a strange dance, but rest assured, the NPD is the one causing harm. NPD is excessively high in the prison population, mostly because they are the most likely to engage in behavior that harms others directly. With the lack of empathy and sense of entitlement, it follows that they consider themselves more qualified to pass judgement because they are "special" people. They also tend to deny any responsibility for their actions, instead choosing to "blame the victim", or try to paint themselves that way. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. If anything is co-occuring with the NPD here, it's ASPD, not BPD.

Furthermore, since med school lasts 4 years and is followed by residency which lasts on average 3-6 years depending on whether you go into medicine or surgery, which is followed by fellowships which last on average 1-3 years, it's a very long haul before the six-figure salary comes into play (residents and fellows make less than 60k a year). Women who marry someone for the doctor salary "gravy train" don't marry med students, they marry doctors who are done with residency and fellowship.
It's wrong of you to say that McAllister was only in it for the money her spouse would be earning in 8 or more years. You don't know anything about her other than she is standing by her fiance. If she was only in it for her husband's future salary, she wouldn't be standing by Markoff now. She would have dropped him with no public statements made in his defense.
Poor girl actually loves him and was duped by his secret life, just like his family.

His finance certainly finds herself in a real pickle. If she dumps him NOW, then she'll really look heartless IF he is found innocent (although the evidence against him is pretty incredible). So, I think it's interesting that her statement says "I will continue to support him throughout this legal process". Sounds to me like she's going to wait until he is proven guilty or innocent (my money is on guilty at this point)....then dump him.

The victims families want justice to be served, and that is why they have trials.
There is something to be said for loyalty. Unfortunately, it will take a full trial with evidence and witnesses to open this poor girl's eyes.
In her statement she said, "I just can only hope that the criminal justice system will not be overwhelmed and persuaded by what is being put forth in the media." I doubt she will even believe the irrefutable evidence despite the fact that the evidence now includes the victims' panties, guns, ties for binding and his fingerprints in the hotel room. It's hard to believe some people can be so blind and remain in denial in the face of these facts. It's very sad.
Denial is very real. The girl is probably in shock. She would be well advised to get some psychological help for herself.

I suspect that Megan's mom should have kicked her butt out of the car a few times and made her walk home during her childhood too. Might have taught her a few important life lessons.

Look, the gal is smart. She knows that if she get's rid of this guy too soon and heads into seclusion, she won't get anymore publicity, no interviews or future TV spots. Listen, I think this story is a bizarre as the next, and I think is woman is in complete denial, but to say she's milking the situation to gain publicity for herself is ridiculous. First of all, who in their right mind would defend their whacko fiancee unless they thought he was innocent? I wouldn't want my poor judgement to result in me becoming famous. Secondly, do you think when she found out about her fiancee being accused of murder she said to herself, "Well, all my hopes and dreams just got flushed down the toilet. I think I'll jump on this opportunity to become famous." Come on. Don't be ridiculous. This woman is an idiot, but also heartsick and confused. She's not hoping to become famous over this.

The presumption of innocence - guaranteed in our Constitution - has been replaced by the media, their endless "analysis" and "expert opinion" needed to fill an otherwise empty 24 hours each day. The accused in this country are dissected and analyzed by these self-important buffoons under the rubric of "the public's right to know".
To know what?
To know every "detail" of every crime...to know the opinions (and nothing more than that) of the "experts" paraded (usually with their ever-present laptops on the desks in front of them) endlessly before us (as if ANYTHING they have to say is in any way meaningful or relevant) and to know all this before a trial!
Add to that an American public with too much free time and too little cynicism and we end up with the above posts, asking fundamental questions based on hearsay and speculation.
It wasn't always so in the USA.
Megan McAllister is not the person who will be going to trial. But most of you have already slammed her, called her names, and pretty much labeled her a gold digger. How do you know she doesn't already have her own money? And it's usually angry guys and real bimbos who attach such traits to people they don't even know. If Markoff is proven guilty, then Ms. McAllister will have to finally face the truth. She won't be the first person to be duped by a psycho, and she definitely won't be the last. Cut her a little slack--she's not on trial!
I feel badly for her. Her life as she knew it was based on untruths. She loves the guy and trusted him, as people who love each other will do. To her, it's seemingly impossible that he could have done these things. You don't just go from loving and trusting someone with your entire being to despising them and believing they are cold blooded killers.
And I might add "Innocent until proven guilty". Although it does appear he is responsible for these crimes he still has the right to a fair trial where a jury will determine his guilt or innocence.

Megan has been deceived by her fiance. She was soooooo in love with him until she can't believe what is happening. Love, obviously, has this girl blind. It's too much evidence pointing at him. And she's still in denial about what has happened? I wonder what he tells her when she goes to visit him...that he's innocent? This jerk is probably still denying these allegations to her and she is falling for every word coming out of his mouth. This girl will need psychological help, eventually, when all is said and done. And I have a feeling he will be confessing to someone the truth of these allegations real soon.
She hasn't been to visit him. She's been in NJ with her family ever since he was taken into custody. The only visitors Markoff has had are his lawyer, parents, and brother.
She's in denial, just like Casey Anthony's parents are. It's too hard to face the truth so she'd rather remember him as he was known to her, not the monster he truly is.
