My question on this is...who allowed this guy toadvance in the CIA and why ? JUst more of our government at work....though in a crooked way.

The prosecutor working his case was one of the Attourneys General that Bush fired in midterm, she was getting close to a huge mess. I think her name was Carol Lamb

Yeah why is it that these men never receive any real time? Regular citizens would get damn near 20 years for this behavior. The corruption disgusts me, but the lack of justice for the American public enrages me! How are we deterring the rest of our morally bankrupt government from behaving in this fashon? Clinton lied about a personal matter between him and his family, something that in no way had the potential to harm any American citizen. How is it you people are still making fools of yourselves over your unhealthy and slightly mental obsession? Many GOP Presidents (or VICE PRESIDENTS) have committed far more serious breaches against the public, so get over it already.

I disagree 'Cyn' - when you have aspired to a public position as high as the President of the United States, nothing is a personal matter anymore. Yes, Clinton's 'indiscretion' could have harmed America big-time if she had decided to try to blackmail him. If you can't control yourself and put yourself first at every opportunity, you have no business being in a position where millions depend on you for their safety.
Clinton did something wrong - he's human and we all fail now and then. What bothered me more than anything is that he lied about it - under oath !! Geeez, just own up to it and apologize - that would have engendered a hell of a lot more support.

I am surprised. I thought we rely on CIA and other federal agencies in our fight against terrorism. Could they, and their execs really be wrong? Arent these execs the role models?
It's really sad that most of us see corruption stories about govenrment officials and don't even give them a second thought. It's so commonplace now that we wouldnt even raise an eyebrow.
The powers that be develop an oversight committee to rid us all of the dishonest employees.

Why are you people surprised? There are bootlickers like this in virtually every organization in the world, public or private. Everyone knows of one in their organization if they work for any decently sized employer. Many never get caught, this one did, we were lucky. There are more out there....
I don't believe for a minute that Porter Goss did not recognize him as a bird of a feather. Since everyone in the agency seemed to know of the sordid past is it reasonable to believe that he never talked to anyone else in the agency? It doesn't say in the article but I have a sneaky suspicion he was going to run as a Republican congressman. He has the right credentials of being a faux patriot.
Yeh, and George Tenet, the guy that was in charge of the CIA during 9/11 and was quoted as telling Bush regarding needing a valid reason for going into Iraq that it was a "slam dunk" and who got a Medal of Freedom from Bush upon his retirement. Fogo, Goss, and Tenet...what a bunch of incompetents.

Hey folks, this is nothing. You should see all the Military Police Blotter reports, Soldiers continuously getting into trouble for Drugs, alcohol, violence, battery, assault, DUI's, Bad Checks, Failures to obey orders etc, and the soldiers are not separated from service for misconduct. Why? Because Army needs them.
Then, when its time for them to get a security clearance for either Secret or Top Secret, because their career progressions require it or the Job skill is mandatory, folks wonder why they cant get a favorable adjudication by the final Army authorities at Fort Meade, Md.
DUH.
This is nothing.............believe me. At least now, at the CIA, there will be promotions to fill his job!

The bottom line on this, the Personnel Security Officers for the CIA were not doing their job when these things were going on.
The individuals and co-workers were not reporting his Foreign National relationships, even IF he was. If he failed to, and during his Periodic Reinvestigations, nothing was reported by him.............no one really looks into that crap..........until its too late and he's caught selling secrets or being blackmailed!

The OPM investigators and the USIS contractors are letting things go by left and right. The DSS had the game and they had a great process of investigations; that all changed thanks to Al Gore. Nothing against the man for Global warming awareness, I love that, but you dont know jack about investigations. These new kids are screwing things up and its going to result in some of the biggest security breaches known to history, in about 25 years!
I said it, and I will keep saying it. Hell, the Army Regulation for Personnel Security was last touched for updates more than 20years ago..........you think they care?
