900 million to a country that hates our guts. I suppose in a "Washington Political" sort of way this makes sense? I can't help but wonder how many people in this country, facing foreclosure or just plain having trouble making their mortgage payments, could be helped with this money.
But alas this is not the way it is done in Washington. Spend our money to help anyone except an American Citizen and especially if that person is a "TAX PAYING" American Citizen. Next thing ya know we will be opening our borders to refugees from there.
If it weren't for the fact that my wife and I make a pretty good retirement (paid for by the state we worked for) we would consider denouncing our American Citizenship and then sneaking back into the country, say in Southern California so we could have the feds and California pay for everything we need. If California really wants to cut the deficit they should start by saying "not a U.S. citizen? NO financial help. NO medical help unless you can pay for it. Can't read the paperwork you need to fill out to get help? Tough, learn to read English. But of course this will never happen because it might make us look bad in the eyes of the world and might offend the illegal immigrants already here. With the help of the ACLU and our liberal courts they could probably file a lawsuit for violations of rights they should not have and win.

For Obama to be a traitor he would have to be an American citizen. There are still a few lawsuits underway that dispute his claim to citizenship. Maybe they are valid and maybe they are not. i'm not someone that knows. What I do know is that his birth records are sealed in Hawaii by some court order as are his college records. Maybe there is nothing there and it's a waste of the courts time, but that begs the question of why Obama finds it necessary to conceal these records from public view. My question is, how is he getting away with it? No other candidate for POTUS has ever done this.

Then today Obama tells us we have to make hard decisions on spending......he's obviously uneducated on how to handle a economy, the size of America. He used the stimulus package to waste more than 25% of the trillion dollars on special projects. What is he going to send to Gaza? Monopoly money...and guns to his friends? We have been giving money away for decades to so many countries. Even before Hamas took power in Gaza, most of the money received by Palestine was coming from the US and the European Union. The Arab nations gave very little to the Palestinians. It does not help that Arafat stole most of it and blame Israel for all of the Palestinians problems. We even give many millions every year to Egypt.
I am not surprised either that Democrats want to increase the help to the Palestinian Authority. After all, the Democrats always want to increase the amount of money given away as welfare, poor nations, etc. Bill Clinton's book is called "Giving: How each of us can change the world", which is how Hillary is going to fix the world's problems by pledging tons of money to other nations from our pockets.
And like someone else already said, can we really trust the UN to properly handle this money? After all, they have proved already that the UN is run by corrupt and inept people at all levels.
If we are going to rebuild Gaza, then, at least wait until Hamas agrees to give up the fight and accepts a permanent peace agreement with Israel, including the acceptance of Israel's right to exist. Do not reward them until they accept the consequences of their actions and make meaningful changes. Otherwise, this whole thing is going to happen again.

This, like all welfare is simply designed to buy peace. We have domestic welfare to keep from having to deal with the civil unrest of desperate people. Its no accident that Roosevelt's welfare programs followed on the heels of the Bonus Army, or that Johnson's Great Society followed all of the urban riots of the early/mid-60's. This is just the same idea: buying off the Palestinians and looking like we actually give a damn, so they maybe won't attack us down the road.

The last 40 years have seen a constant lowering of academic standards in public edcucation to the point where our students, who at one time could compete with students from any country in the world, are now incapable of competing on Main Street USA and have absolutely no chance of competing on the global economic highway that we all are now forced to travel whether we like it or not.
After listening to three immediate family members who began teaching in public education in the mid 60's and are now all retired from metropolitan area public high schools this was the topic of discussion at many family get togethers. The "everyone gets a trophy" mentality that permeated the thinking of public school leadership over that period resulted in diplomas being given that were vitrually meaningless and of little more value than the paper they were printed on. These graduates had little chance of earnign a living wage and were facing a lifetime of minimum wage jobs unless they took it upon themselves to correct their educational deficiencies or learn a marketable skill.
Want to start public education on the road back to relevancy, raie the academic standards back up to where they once were and should never have been lowered from and accept no excuses from those who sit on either side of public education's table.
no child left behind........so that you don't get that check when he gets out of school.....A good parent will hold his child back if he can't read and write....a bad parent will let him go on to a higher grade, cause he wants to be with his pals.....well start thinking about his education.....if he can't read/write HOLD HIM BACK ....YOUR HIS PARENT...
