How will the left wing nuts, Neville Chamberlains and UN people excuse this unprovoked attack?
"Oh. if only the Israelis would walk quietly into Hamas ovens the violence would end"?
Let us put the blame where it lies -- with the fanatics of Hamas.
And with the Palestinians for allowing Hamas to continue the violence that has already brought the Palestinians death and destruction.
If Palestinians followed the examples of Ghandi and Martin Luther King non violent approach, they would achieve all their goals.
As long as the Hamas fanatics rule Gaza, Israeli hard liners can say to the moderate Israelis: see, we told you so. And the hard liners win, and Palestinians lose.
How will the left wing nuts, Neville Chamberlains and UN people excuse this unprovoked attack?
Embargo is an act of war, and imprisoning a people behind a wall can also be seen as such. Unprovoked ...no, it is a provocation. Israel could easily search the ships bound for Gaza and turn back any containing war materials. Instead they deny all so to squeeze the Palestinians and make them grovel for the trickle that Israel gives them.
Also my views are to the right, Leftist liberals are not the only people who are just sick and tired of the Israel and Palestinian problem. I am also ashamed at seeing our military machines which we gave to Israel blowing up whole city blocks to kill one guy. No wonder the world does not trust Americans anymore.
Were Israeli's...or anyone else...firing at or attacking anyone? Were innocent people being abused or taken prisoner?
People were being moved to receive medical help. Shows the "courage" of the radicals; fire weapons at sick and injured people on stretchers. One might see more courage on the part of disease ridden cockroaches.....
Want to comment on the settlement article but site will not allow it. Transfers me to this ..another outrage but not quite the atrocity of granting more building permits! Sadly, the Israeli people are being blamed for the revolting -despicable actions of the selected leader and his comrades!
UN and the Us Need to shut down these perpetrators of apartheid!...BiBi and his lot are horrid!
Cost of American taxpayer dollars in aid to Israel daily= 7 Million dollars a day. (Gee what problems in this country could that solve) Total cost if American taxpayer dollars in aid to Israel since 1949 = 113.855 Billion Dollars ( HMMMMMMMNNNNNNNN are you serious) Look on the faces of the American people when they finally realize Israel is going to continue feeding off the cow while continuing the B.S. = PRICELESS.
RO look up the word resistance in the dictionary and you will realize that when your land is stolen you will continue to fight till the end. Is Israel prepared to do that? I dont think so.
Georgey boy.....No one stole anything from the palastinians. This land belonged to the Jewish people and the whole world accepted it as fact. The Italians have it recorded in their history books over 2000 years ago. You are helping to perpetuate the muslim belief that any land conquered by muslims must remain muslim for all times, or be destroyed. This is why Spain has problems now. If the palastinians want to claim Jerusalem as a capital and Israel as a homeland, then there needs to be some serious rewriting of history. There is a resistance going on in Israel, but it is and has been the Israelis resisting the arab invaders from taking over their land
The rewriting of history was made in 1948 Israel was never there before. Youyr facts are wrong Palestine was a country prior to 1948, I can prove it to you. Whatever they are teaching you in Israel is pure brainwash. In 1948 jews landed and seeked refuge in Plaestine if Im wrong then prove it. They started buying land and it was like a coupe. Now Israel is screaming foul because they feel that the world might offer the Palestinians there land back and feel they have no right to do so. History is repeating itself my friend and you cant stop it.
Maybe the old days were better. When two sides couldn't agree they went to war, one side one the other was lost. If the losers were lucky, part of their society was allowed to exist.
Seems like the civilized alternatives we keep on trying sure don't help people really solve their problems or even arrive at reasonable compromises.
Steven B $500 says that Palestine existed before 1948 my wager has increased since you think you know your history why dont you put your money where your mouth is or never write F..... ever again. Solomons temple? no one ever denied that jews existed in Palestine. The only problem is the illegal state of Israel it should have never been allowed. I have a map dated before 1948 of Palestien Ill be more than happy to post a copy to you.
That old argument about Jews owning the land that was Palestine is ridiculous. There weren't Jews on that land for 2,000 years now they claim it as theirs? The British pulled off the "final solution" by moving the Jews out of Europe and placing them in Palestine uprooting the true owners and leaving them at the mercy of warmongering, self absorbed, hateful, land grabbing outsiders who have tried to portray themselves as the victims when its Palestinians who are dying in droves. This country in its ignorance and literal interpretation of the Bible has been suckered into supporting the murderers. Remember that the Bible was written by Jews so of course they will attempt to put themselves into the best light possibe. Thank goodness the world has seen through that veil.
what are you talking about.it is the Jews that surround the Palestinian communities with tanks an soldiers an check points.Gaza is a huge prison with old women an children.it is the Jews that are stealing an destroying Palestinian home for settlement expansion which equals more homeless people.you are committing genocide .you are achieving what Hitler couldn't achieve, looks like you learned allot about how to destroy a whole race of people.you use allot of the same tactics Hitler used, only you perfected it like you do with our American weapons, perfect them by fine tuning them.your all a bunch of immigrant's with dual citizen ships leaving the country of your birth an killing an stealing from a man in the country of his birth, saying they would be happy if Jews walked into the ovens all the while pushing Palestinians day in an day out into the ovens.while the world watchess, sound familier.
Read Deuteronomy and Joshua and see how the ancient Jews supposedly got the land they still claim is theirs.
What's changed?
"Within the area known as the Land of Israel and prior to the establishment of the Israelite civilization, the Land of Israel was politically dominated by Phoenician, Philistines, and Canaanite tribes. There is a modern debate to the degree that the biblical account of a mass emigration to the Land of Israel is accurate or whether, as some archaeologists believe, that the Israelites simply arose as a subculture within Canaanite society" - wikipedia
The Palestinians are the descendants of the Canaanites, Philistines, and Phonicians.
The comment I added above was submitted months ago....kind of makes this whole discussion thing fraudulent. A note could be attached to an article and be a total misrepresentation of my thoughts on a particular situation.
Is this any indication of how MSN assembles some of their news stories?
the father of the Hebrew people was born and lived in Ur.. in what is now Iraq. that is their 'ancestral' land.
there were people already living when the first Hebrews came to what is now Israel... like the Native North Americans were already here when Christians claimed they found the country. you can't find what is already found. lol.
Not to mention the fact that according to the Torah .. God has exiled the Jews from Israel and they are not to have their own country until the messiah comes and fulfills all of the prophesy. that hasn't happened. Do you see world peace ? that's one of the prophesies.
The good folks of UR were conquered be the descendants that live there. They in turn now have thrown out the Jews:Most of them, ie hundreds of thousands. There are maybe 8 left. They may be gone by as well by now.
God exiled them (Jews)????The Romans exiled them, but that would not support your claims.
Besides the Romans didn't throw out or kill everyone despite all their effort .There have been Jews in Palestine all along.
Don't put blames take action to stop both sides. President Obama wants good relationship with Muslims, but words are not enough without any acts. He should disarm Israel along with others, and put US and International forces who are not Bais to anyone Cristians, Jews and Muslims. He should make Israel and Palestine one state for anyone to be able to live anywhere without any restrictions, where everyone should have a right to vote like Americans have
How do you make peace with people who want to fight. The rocket attacks surely prove Hamas wants another round of fighting and death.. They are attacking, begging Israel to invade again for they want to fight, kill and die. No peace is possible with such people.
"You are so naive!" Naive ..yes Obama cannot impose anything on another country. But history has shown that a minority cannot sustain rule over a majority.
The day will come when both sides will have to work it out. Unless one side inflicts a genocidal war on the other...which right now seems to be the path both peoples are aiming for.
Since when does Obama have the right to seperate God's Land and gain Kingship over a Sovereign nation. He cannot dictate what Israel can and cannot do, hope and change lol democrats are so stupid.
JDavis..Not Obamas call-- the congress control the funds and AIPAC owns the Congress. Israel has ignored the UN resolutions for years and been allowed to do it!
BiBi and his horrid Askanaszi gang have wrecked havoc -thru the victim /blame game- for decades. Needs to stop but am not sure how, if they have no interest in peace! Revolting It is not the majority of the Israeli people --it is the selected leadership...
Steven b is full of @!$%# just like most of the Jews that come here,i think they work for the israeli government.professional liars.i ask you Steven b where was Israel before the Holocaust.no where to be seen or herd of.you kill Palestinians an destroy there homes an deny their very existence.you came there after the holocaust because the world did not want you or do you forget.Canada an american included would not accept the holocaust surviving boat loads of Jews, they sent you to british occupied palestine, palestine not israel.there is a reason for that you clown.before that it was ottomen occupied palestine ,again not israel.you came to palestine sfter the holocost an brought a holocost to the local indegenous people of the land.
Disarm Israel ?..what a joke !!....if it wasn`t for Isreals with good weapons the Islamic fascists terrorists would slash everyone`s throats .,,...why don`t the so called peaceful Muslims take care once and for all their own murderers..some are trying and other countries açre helping them.. but Isreal the U.S. and other countries have to not only protect their citizens but go after the demon terrorists.China Thailand Pakistan and many others are fighting these mass murderers and of course Isreal too..... unfortunately the Palestinians are controlled by too many of these Isalmic terrorists .they will never get their own country if they continue.. in 1948 they had a chance but they blew it .
Yes hairdresser I am Israeli, and a Jew and I'm PROUD. Got a problem with that? SHOVE IT. And you are arab I presume?
We level your homes after we tie you to a terrorist attack. If you are the father of a boy who exploded, prepare for your house to be leveled to the ground.
I was also in Gaza for a short while......perhaps I searched your family members for weapons once or twice?
Hairdresser, the palestinians are far more adroit at killing & torturing each other.
When they are exposed for this you and the likes of you are never around to condemn it or at least comment. There is a Yet Another newsvine discussion as of 01/03/10 about PA and Hamas torturing and killing each other and you ain't there.
When they are not accepting charitable contributions from around the world Hamas is hijacking Humanitarian food supplies and selling it for cash using Red Cross supplies for their militant arm's use. Then blaming Israel.
Stop your complaining and upgrade yourself.
The creation of the State of Israel was in the works long before the Holocaust.
Again, how will the left wing nuts and Hamas apologists justify Hama's hijacking of foods because they want to starve out those who are not Hamas supporters? Evil is as evil does! And just as evil are those who support and condone evil!
It seems the UN people are finally seeing the reality that the Hamas fanatics are capable of anything.
william philips you guys are broadcasting hatred you always write about how arabs are terrorists but you never write about how many children died in Gaza. Israel is an illegal state just like a needle in a haystack. The middle east is arab if the jews want to live in peace then they must strive for peace. The Palestinians have been deprived all their lives without a nation and without human rigths its time for justice to be carried out. Taking others land cannot be tolerated.
Georgey boy your right, taking of other peoples land can not be tolerated...and those filthy arabs need to be sent packing back from whence they came. I wish I could feel sorry for an arab that died in this mess , but I can't. Their way of life is appalling to my western values. They stand against everything I hold sacred, equal rights, freedom of choice and the list goes on and on. When one of them die, no tears fall from my face. So why don't you go buy a pile of the new USA muslim stamps and use them to send out your christmas cards this year.
You peole who think like ol' Georgey boy here need to realize that there can be no peace with the arab world unless the world converts to islam, and even then there cant be peace because someone will be angry over which flavor of islam you picked, and violence will still be the way of life.
I am one of those people who are tolerant to other religions including Islam but it seemsto me that just as there is muslim hatred there is enough jewish hatred around the corner. I do not believe the state of Israel can live in peace without a sacrifice. The bombs will never stop unless your leaders guide you in the right direction and im not talking about your silly tauras beliefs
Because the terrorists hide behind their children, and behind the skirts of their women. This is a simple demonstration of the terrorist's true agenda.
hamas fanatics yea right.who's tanks an armed forces surround who,you are enslaving a whole race pf people while you commit a slow an painful genocide against an enslaved an defenseless people.you are all a bunch of immigrents.i will bet my balls that all the jews in here are all born outside of israel.they all come from russia poland ,all the for a free condo in palestine to build on the blood an displacement of the local people.they dont go to egypt or jrden because they are palestinians yoy land staelling slave driver.
What a quagmire! Palastanians (Muslims) feel they were thrown off their motherland! Isrelites (Jews) feel they were thrown off their motherland! Time frame is relative!
Every few years, both parties conduct major offensive against each other and nearly self distruct. After the battle is over and each are licking their wounds, they turn to rest of peaceful Earth People ( i.e., The rest of the World) and beg for help.
So, in context of Humanity, we give aid to both these parties; give them a chance to heal their wounds and recover.
Once they recover and after some years, they reopen their wounds and start the fight all over again.
We, peaceful people of Earth, are directly responsible for continuation of this conflict
Why?
Because, if "People who do not learn lessons from history are doomed to repeat the history" (paraphrased).
Let us all (and by this I mean the rest of the world) stop feeding the hands that bites the "Peaceful" hand!
We all strive for a plurestic and a universal society. We all want to tolerate race, religion, creed etc.
However, this conflict is not about race, religion, creed etc. It is about who is in power! It is about stupid people behaving stupidly!
Shall we reinforse their behavior or should we force a change in their behaviour (especially since they are asking for our help)?
The way to expect decipline, responsibilty, accountability is by not giving in to either parties' demands.
These two feuding parties act like spoiled children.
So, let us treat them as children and we need to put our foot down and set rules for these recaltrant children!. What gives us that right - them asking for Money and Allowance!
If we compromise we loose!
Let us demand that they sit down and talk with each other and resolve their differances themselves. If they cannot determine their own destinity and want our help then we have liscense to impose our non-negotiable peaceful standard to both parties if they want help and money to rebuild ( For Israel and Palastine).
Does NOT sound like Globalist stupidity to me. Both sides are a drain on our country's resources. We cannot dictate to Israelis nor the Palestinians, neither will listen to us at all. Bottom line is our country will support Israel's right to exist, unless it crosses some line we just cannot comprehend. Some people in the USA think Israel crossed that line already, long ago. Most don't. Most people in the USA think the Palestinian's cross that line on a regular basis. Considering the US press, who tends to tout the suffering of the Palestinian's, THIS SAYS SOMETHING. The unfortunate people on both sides, who really don't agree with either extreme view currently popular, are the ones who suffer. Those with with grudges and agenda's will always suffer.
Sorry , gloria8, most people do not see Palestinians stepping over the line..Sanctions and UN resolutions have been ignored for decades by Israel at the same time encroaching on the people of Palestine. The World has seen, since January 2009, the atrocities of disproportionate nature visited on the Palestinain civilians by the selected leadership-BiBi -et al--not the people- of Israel...It is an odious situation..Apartheid to be sure!
Usa and the World need to withdraw the financial support for Israel POST HASTE...
Which comic book have you been reading? If Israel thought that it could get away with killing all of the Palestinians they would have done it years ago. However that would cut off the flow of monies and weapons from the west also you can't claim to be a victim if there's no one around to victimize you.
How long must we promote "peace" with terrorist nations and organizations, before we wake up and determine to stop it with resolve? The last war won that achieved peaceful status between combatants was World War II and the resolve necessary to win that one makes us faint when contemplated. No one wants to instigate a major confrontation, but, our ancestors recognized that reality is, unless your willing to undertake such tragic confrontation, these underlying elements will continue to fester and boil over for eternity.
History does not prove the peaceful "nature" of man, only the hope that Justice can prevail, and those who seek peace can achieve it when determined to exhaust the enemies of peace.
Here's hoping the Israeli's will finish this once and forever, eliminating the rabid dog nipping at their heels and the heels of all peace seeking nations.
The USA pledes $900 million for Gaza? Why not add a simple condition...NO MORE ROCKET ATTACKS!!! Give the money in increments , only so long as the attacks are not happening. Force Hamas to choose and the people to choose as well.
It works both ways. How about opening borders and stop harrassing the people in Gaza. Isreal always kills lots more people than the rockets. They rarely hit anything.
Why not stop giving Israel billions of our money a year? How far can the small amount of money that the US gave to the Palestinians go? There are over a million people in Gaza who are starving, need medical attention, housing, schools, and hospitals. Talk about small tokens.
You can always tell when Israel is going to attack, by all the Hitler shows on the history channels. All that Israel accomplishes with these attacks and making a prisons out of Gaza and the west bank is to breed another generation of Palestinians who hate Israelis. Because of unbiased reporters not being allowed into the area, some of the rockets could be from Zionists living by these prison walls shooting them off themselves...most of these rockets land in unpopulated areas...in order to provoke the government to act, promote the hardliners cause and gain more sympathy from foreign governments.
I know these statements of mine will draw attacks, so be it. You can't make a giant prison and then place an embargo on the people without some sort of protest or response. An embargo is an act of war, so shooting rockets over the prison's walls should be expected.
The only reason Arab-Palestinians consider themselves prisoners is because no Moslem country allows them emigration. Egypt, Lebanon, Syria doesn't want them. Those countries set aside separate camps. Jordan even kicked them all out, massacred thousands of them, that the western press rarely even mentions. Egypt has embargoes on Arab-Palestine too. Why don't the rockets and mortars go in that direction? The reason is they hate Democracy, Liberty, and Freedom. Israel's the easiest target. Otherwise they would happily send another missile with your dinner, and celebrate by dancing in their streets again. Just as Arab-Palestine did on 9/11. Or should we forget about that too...
"Here's hoping the Israeli's will finish this once and forever, eliminating the rabid dog nipping at their heels and the heels of all peace seeking nations"
Sounds like you are supporting the genocide of the Palestinians, and I believe the Nazis used some of the same language to dehumanise the Jews, Gypsies and Slavs. History always repeats itself, But I guess it is OK when the tables are turned.
Sounds like genocide to me. Let someone say that about Israel and they'll cry anti-semitism. Well guess what? Killing Palestinians is anti-semitic too. The Israelis have traded the swaztica for the Star of David. Both symbols are interchangeable.
Sounds like genocide to me. Let someone say that about Israel and they'll cry anti-semitism. Well guess what? Killing Palestinians is anti-semitic too. The Israelis have traded the swaztica for the Star of David. Both symbols are interchangeable.
The only people that can get away with REAL ethnic cleansing (always Jews and Christians) AND claim to be the "victims" are from Islamic countries.
Here's hoping the Israeli's will finish this once and forever, eliminating the rabid dog nipping at their heels and the heels of all peace seeking nations
As long as Hamas denies Israel the right to exist and fires rockets into Israel whenever they see fit, there will be no peace, and Hamas deserves none. And again, as long as the cowards of Hamas hide in the midst of civilians, there will be civilian victims.
Israel doesnt have the right to exist untillk they realize that the land of Palestine was encroached upon. The next question is why are rockets being lobbied toward Israel and the answer is because Israel is ontop of their land. So what does Israel want to do? do they want to sign a final peace? Put your money where your mouth is instead of expanding land that wasnt yours to begin with.
SteveN B Israel is an illegal state created by countried who imposed the creation of Israel it is time to stop b.....s.... the world . It is time to give those people their land back. You say black I say white so there is a problem and must besolved by the same people who carried out this conspiracy.
How about the cowards who try to justify killing thousands of innocents because someone, who knows for sure who fires them, shoots rockets into Israel that harm no one and destroys no property. How about Israel's refusal to see that Palestinians have their own country? Israel can't have it both ways.
How come the arabs never said anything when Jordan kicked the Palestinians out of their country? They killed plenty of them too. Not even a peep!
Plus these people were out dancing and celebrating in the streets, when the Word Trade Center came down. Notice the News channels never show those film clips anymore? They go to great lengths to protect them.. Never should they mention the word "terrorist", yet they send rockets and mortars DAILY into civilians in Israel..
They danced in Israel too. They knew that the attack would help them convince brain dead Bush to give them whatever they wanted in order to kill more Palestinians.
The Israeli legislative proposal linking citizenship to an oath of allegiance involving loyalty to the Jewish state or risk severe punishment is most interesting. Hardly a day goes by that some pick-up truck drives by me on the back roads of Louisiana with a southern Confederacy flag across the back glass of the window. I wonder what the ole boys in the deep south in the southern United States would say if the U.S. Congress proposed similar legislation forbidding the flying of the "rebel" flag, the singing of Dixie battle hymns of the fallen Confederacy and re-enactments of Confederate battles against the Union soldiers. Interesting....
Hadrian invented the word "Palestine".. It was always considered Jewish Palestine, until 1947 when the UN mandated the state of Israel.. The Jews had always been living there continually for FOUR THOUSAND YEARS. And were also the majority of the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The Arabs took over the word "Palestine" in the 1950's.. They would rather we all believe Jews moved out after the Crusades. And reestablished themselves again in 1947.. That just isn't the case.
Trueism... you are right on that. Originally; that whole area belonged to the Israeli tribe of Judah, accept for a small area right in the middle which belonged to the tribe of Simeon. Later; an area from Gaza to Joppa was formed known as Philistia, perhaps the precursor to Palestine. The sad truth remains that for ancient reasons the indigenous people of this area just can not live together in peace for any extended period of time. Until they learn to love their children more than they hate each other they will continue to be at war.
I have a map showing the Republic of Texas. Does that make it so? Although it would be moronic, some people might also believe that to be current and accurate also. Palestine as a nation is bogus.
Leo Ill challenge you to your statement. If Palestine never existed before 1948 i will personally transfer you $100. But if it did exist you will appologize on this blog. How about that son.
Leo Ill challenge you to your statement. If Palestine never existed before 1948 i will personally transfer you $100.
Sounds good! Send the money to Magen David Adom.
George, I have repeatedly asked you for the history of the "Nation of Palestine". Things like their form of government, Prime Ministers, the GDP of "Palestine" and other things that legitimate nations have.
They don't place suicide bombers on school busses, blowing up women and children. They rescue entire populations of black Jews from Ethiopia, welcoming them into their country to live in freedom. They don't send, or threaten anyone with rockets and mortars; which happens to their civilian population daily/hourly from Hamas inspired Arab Palestinians, They don't place bombs loaded with nails and rat poison, in your discos or outside cafes. They are democratically elected, allowing their population equal representation in their government. They've lived there continually for thousands of years. A country the size of New Jersey that finds room for everybody. They don't put anyone into refugee camps, kidnap soldiers or behead anyone. They just want to build a village, in the land they lived in for a few thousand years.
marilynboyd...the word is speeled Israel...not Isreal! It seems to me that Israel does what they have to in order to survive. Being surrounded by hostile enemies and terrorists.
Suspiciously... you misspelled the word spelled which is even funnier. Casting stones does not seem to be your forte. Don't people know how to use the spell check provided?
Wow, you would think Israel is really making a big concession by agreeing to a Palestine state, not so. They are no better and even worse than Hamas in regards to peace with idiot restrictions put on agreeing to peace knowing they will never be met. If Israel is calling for a demilitarized Palestine then so should they. I have always been for Israel but I am tired of their warmongering ways and the hard heads in charge. I might add that Hamas is worse but will compromise. The U.S. should really tone down their support and conform with the rest of the world and insist Israel give up the land already agreed to in the original road map, mainly the West Bank, just get the hell out of there not just stop building but GET OUT.
You should know that the Hamas Charter spells out very clearly their desire to Destroy Israel and kill Jews worldwide.
Hamas name
Hamas is an acronym ofHarakat al Mawqawama al Islamiyyameaning "Islamic Resistance Movement." The word Hamas also means "zeal." The H in Hamas is an Arabic 'Het and it is sounded as a pharyngeal fricative, a sound made deep in the throat like the 'Het in "Shalom 'Haver" made famous by President Bill Clinton. The "a"s in Hamas are pronounced approximately like the "a" in "cat." In Hebrew, the a's are pronounced as "ah."
Hamas capsule history
The Hamas has a 'military' wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, that engages in terrorist acts and a 'civilian' wing that supposedly confines itself to education and 'good works.' Hamas perpetrated numerous suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks, at first in order to sabotage the Oslo Accords and peace process, and then as part of the Second Intifada. Israel successively assassinated its leaders, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Sheikh Ahmed Rantissi, forcing the leadership underground. However, in January of 2006, candidates representing the Hamas swept to victory in Palestinian elections, overcoming the traditional leadership of the Fateh and PLO. In June of 2006, Hamas affiliates captured an Israeli soldier by tunneling across the border between Gazaand Israel In February of 2007, Hamas, Fateh and other factions entered a unity government in a deal brokered by Saudi Arabia and Egypt. However, in practice, Hamas ruled Gazaon its own. It formed the Executive Force over the protests of the Fatah and Palestinian Authority. The Executive force was a combination internal police force, political force to be used against Hamas opponents and terrorist group. In June of 2007, Hamas ousted Fatah forces from Gaza in a bloody coup, throwing Fatah members off the roofs of buildings after shooting them in the knees. At least one Fatah member was sliced into steaks that were sent to his family. Since Gazahad been totally evacuated by Israel in the unilateral disengagement of 2005, Hamas currently (2009) rules Gaza as a de facto state government. It has used Gazaas a base for launching rocket attacks against Israel. On June 19, 2008, Israel and Hamas concluded a "lull" or Tahdiya agreement that was brokered by Egypt. Hamas, but not Israel, declared that this truce was for a period of six months. Rocket fire from Gazawas reduced but not stopped. Hamas greatly stepped up smuggling of arms through tunnels beneath the Egyptian controlled Rafah crossing. Hamas dismissed the international monitors that were to have controlled the Rafah crossing, and then declared that Gazais "under siege." Israel retaliated for rocket fire by closing the Israeli crossings periodically. On December 18, 2008, Hamas declared that they would not renew the truce. Thereafter, Hamas and associated organizations directed a rain of rocket and mortar fire at Israeli towns and cities, reaching as far as 45 KM away with Grad rockets that had been smuggled in during the lull period. On December 26, 2008, Israel launched operation Cast Lead, attacking the Hamas in Gaza at first by air and later in a limited ground invasion.
The principles of the Hamas are stated in their Covenant or Charter, given in full below. Following are highlights.
"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).
"The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. "
"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."
"After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying."
The charter is a rather classical Islamist document, applied to the local issues. It declares that Jihad (in the sense of armed battle) is the only solution. It cites the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a ludicrous anti-Semitic forgery.
The "Zionists" and the freemasons and others are blamed for what Hamas and radical Islamists see as the major calamities of the world, especially the French Revolution.
Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
The implication is clear: Allah promised that the Jews will be murdered, and the Hamas "aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take."
Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood
Some observers deny the relation between the Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. However, the Charter states:
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine. Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a universal organization which constitutes the largest Islamic movement in modern times. It is characterised by its deep understanding, accurate comprehension and its complete embrace of all Islamic concepts of all aspects of life, culture, creed, politics, economics, education, society, justice and judgement, the spreading of Islam, education, art, information, science of the occult and conversion to Islam.
Moreover, the Charter quotes Hassan Al-Banna, a Nazi sympathizer who founded the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. There is no doubt that the Hamas views itself as a part of the Muslim Brotherhood and an ideological heir of al Banna. The Muslim Brotherhood spawned a number of radical Islamist movements including Al-Qaeda.
Current Hamas Positions
Some analysts insist that the Hamas is becoming more pragmatic in its ideology following assumption of a political role. The evidence for this is view is conflicting, and it is beclouded by the practice of dissemblance that was copied from Al-Banna and Sayyed Qutb. Recent statements by leaders include the following:

"I believe that our children, or our grandchildren, will inherit our jihad and our sacrifices, and, Allah willing, the commanders of the conquest will come from among them"

Other statements are more moderate in tone, but Hamas has repeatedly refused international community demands to recognize the right of Israel to exist, abrogate its charter and abide by the previous commitments of the Palestinian Authority
One of the most ominous aspects of the Charter however, is this Hadith:
One of the most ominous aspects of the Charter however, is this Hadith:

After going out of their way not to mention over 8000 Arab Palestinian rockets being fired into Israeli civilian populations over the past months. A/P has finally found an alternative story to tell us.
Art, First your response of Nov 17th was to an article written last July.. My response has been added to dozens of other msnbc articles since. Israel's response has always been against TERRORISM.. So you are correct.. There is no comparison..
How can anyone come to conclusions when you're dealing with anonymous sources. If these alligations are true, then the accusers need to come forward to provide information which will support these positions.
Personally, I look at these alligations as more of the Hamas media machine output. They have developed an excellent PR department but more often than not, they've been caught providing touched-up photos and pure lies.
I think when these 'stories' are fully investigated, we'll see that it's just more Hamas BS and without foundation.
Noone can touch the Israeli PR machine. For decades it managed to turn world opinion against the Palestinians. Thank goodness for global news services. They have really helped to open the eyes of the world to the viciousness and hatred that is Israeli policy towards Palestinians.
The real story is finally coming out. Here's a copy of an initial article which was published this morning....
Will the media never learn?
In March 2009, Ha'aretz published a story alleging "war crimes" and serious ethical failures on the part of the IDF in Gaza. Predictably, many international media outlets repeated the allegations without bothering to do any rudimentary checks.
Subsequently, it was revealed that the soldiers' testimonies were based on nothing more than rumors and hearsay, causing acute embarrassment to Ha'aretz and serving up a salutary lesson for those media outlets that reproduced such shoddy journalism.
Now, Israeli non-governmental organization Breaking the Silence has published a new report reliant upon testimonials from soldiers who served in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. Once again, allegations of "war crimes" and misdemeanors are based on second-hand evidence and hearsay. Once again, international media outlets rushed to publish a story from another flawed source.
The G & M's Orly Halpern even wrote on her personal Twitter page: "I'm reading a really moving report which I will be writing about for the Globe and Mail. It makes me sick to my stomach." Can an objective and balanced story emerge when emotions rather than facts are the driving force?
Defending the IDF operation against charges including the use of human shields, Golani Brigade commander Col. Avi Peled stated that one of the soldiers who testified in the report was not even in the field at the time: "He told his commander about a week [during] which he wasn't even in the field. He reported about what he heard happened."
NGO Monitor's Dan Kosky points to the Breaking the Silence report's central problems - flawed methodology and absence of any reasonable research standards:
By Breaking the Silence's own admission, the allegations are comprised of "the testimony of around 30 combatants" - a fraction of the thousands of Israeli combat troops deployed during the Gaza conflict. This extremely narrow and presumably hand-picked sample is an absurd basis on which to pass judgment, and even these limited testimonies were entirely unverifiable.
All statements are anonymous, and so-called "evidence" is further compromised by the absence of any details of where and when alleged incidents occurred. Consequently, were the report intended to prompt the IDF to investigate individual allegations, Breaking the Silence has made this impossible.
The IDF has issued an intial response to Breaking the Silence that can be viewed here.
As for Breaking the Silence's motivations, The Jerusalem Post's Amir Mizroch offers an insider's insight on his personal blog on how the group attempted to give Ha'aretz exclusive rights to the story. The paper, in light of its previous embarrassment, did not take the bait and sent the report to the IDF for response. Meanwhile, Breaking the Silence attempted to get the JPost's military correspondent off the story, fearing that the paper would take a critical look at their report. According to Mizroch:
Several days before all this, Breaking The Silence gave out their report to a wide array of foreign media, and not to the IDF to probe into itself, with the caveat that they observe the embargo until after Ha'aretz published the report first. All of which shows their original intent was to get as much uncritical worldwide publicity for their report. Legitimate, sure. Fair? Not so sure.
Breaking the Silence has succeeded in gaining the international publicity that it sought. Many media outlets have also demonstrated their propensity to uncritically publish unverifiable accounts from non-governmental organizations that feed their own unquestioning narrative of Israel and the IDF.
America's solution to everything is; if you throw enough money at a problem it will go away, if it doesn't... kill it. If you can't kill it throw more money at it. If that still does not work accept it.
Take notice how the press never mentions the "T" word when refering to the Palestinian Arabs, sending rockets into civilian populations.. Never mentions the fact the Jews made up the Majority of Jerusalem's Population since before the Ottoman Empire. That West Bank Arabs never made up the population of Jerusalem, (and now they want it all, before they will even sit down to negotiate). Arab Palestine does not want peace/They are making too much money without it. Peace would only kill their cash camel.
Some Arab-Palestinians are far from being innocent. They are in fact TERRORISTS, that justify killing of civilians. Anything Western will do. Hamas, Hisbullah, and Ahmadinejad say they only want to get rid of (kill) "Zionists". (However a Zionist is ANY Jew who lives in Israel). So that just shows where their intentions really lie..
Israel investigates Arab-Palestinian civilian casulties. Quickly admits mistakes, apoliges, and makes efforts to makes sure they don't repeat. Israel also gives free medical aid. Daily Arab-Palestinians cross into Israel for this Medical Aid.
Never once has Arab-Palestine apologized for killing or injuring Civilians. They would much rather kidnap, blow up a bus load of civilians, send a rocket into a schoolyard playground..
how come the headlines read "israel bombs gaza"?? why doesn't the headlines read "palestinians rockets hit israel"??????
most people read headlines and don't bother reading the content of the article and as such form an opinion against the "aggressor" which in this case is not israel!!
what other country will take the sick and wounded aggressors and treat them free of charge at their own hospitals? world, give us a break!!! please!
It's like; Lucy, Charley Brown and the football. Hamas needs Israel to attack them in order to gain world public sympathy. They lob rockets and Israel stomps them to pieces. Then hamas cries out to the world, look at how they treat us Palestinians? If the world would condemn Hamas attacks on Israel, the world would see a lot less violence on the Gaza Strip.
Taken from the article..."Israel evacuated its 8,000 settlers in the Gaza Strip in 2005, two years before the territory was taken over by Hamas militants". So in attempt to establish peace Israel evacuates the area which allows Hamas to move in. Hamas starts lobbing rockets day and night and is still doing it to this day. Perhaps; if Palestine really wanted to live in peace, it would never have allowed hamas to gain control of the area. Palestine still does not understand that it is a conquered nation. It attacked Israel and was defeated. Now it's occupied. Had it never attacked Israel in the first place it would not be in the position it's in now. Now Iran is preparing to attack Israel. And when Israel defeats them and occupies them they too will be crying unfair. Perhaps people should stop trying to destroy Israel.
Jerusalem has been the Jews home for thousands of years.. They have been living, and practicing their religion there, before Christianity and Islam. West Bank Arab Palestinians NEVER WERE the population of Jerusalem. And now the West Bank Palestinians want it all?
Let Jerusalem belong to Israel.. And should anyone want to live there, let then just be free to buy some real estate, like anywhere else...
Even if Jerusalem had few jews, there were jews in Syria Lebanon and Iraq it doesnt mean Israel is legitimate. You think that inviting jews from Europe and following your book makes it ok? its not ok. Im christian and I feel Israel needs to get rid of the zionist terrorists that are making the laws and furthering any real chance of peace with their neighbors. As long as we stero type jews as big nosed, tight race and arabs are all terrorists things arent going to move
The information is readily available. Just make a little more effort. The history of "Palestine" is well known and nearly impossible to "slant" A few years ago I was one of those folks that would say, "I'm not an anti-semite, I'm anti-zionist". I was really just ape-ing what my other liberal friends were saying. Pressing further these folks could not back-up that cute little "sound-bite" yet could chant it in lock-step.
Liberals are supposed to step out of the marching lines and question prevailing beliefs.
The late Frank Zappa used to write on his album covers, "...go to the library and educate YOURSELF if you have any guts".
I did. I realize my previous anti-zionist opinions were and are wrong.
Chris and Georgie's passions are mis-placed. The apparent rabidityof their posts suggest they will never change. They rely on the general public's lack of knowledge in order to perpetrate their distorted views. They depend on most people being to lazy to educate themselves. If I spoon fed you history would you not be tempted to dismiss any or all of it off as being slanted?
and please don't take offense. I am not accusing you of laziness. I recently mis-stated that Ghandi was killed by a Muslim. I apologized, corrected my mistake and went on...pointing out that my original contention was correct and backed it up.
Good luck in your endeavor. If you REALLY need assistance I can point you to some scholarly links.
Palestine was known as Palestine during the time of the Persian Empire 500 BC ... see Herodotus writings describing it as the 5th province in book III ( 90-91) page 119
For sure if you check, the Roman Hadrian invented the word "Palestine". And for his own reasons. It was after he had the wall built in England. He was sent to Judah to put down the Jewish rebellion against Rome. That's when he came up with the word "Palestine" to be used instead of "Judah". That Jews could never lay clear claim to that land. However. Jews continued to live there, and practice their religion to this day. And were also the majority of Jerusalem's population too..
Hopefully Israel will stand its ground and not bow to the lefts ploys to appease the worlds terrorists and fanatics!
This is why they are called terrorist!!!
Your views are to the right of what, may I ask?
Israel used to allow ships until they discovered all they do is arm themselves with Iranian and Russian arms.
I haven't heard of one contribution of those so called Palestinians to the world besides Terrorism.
The land in question was annexed from Jordan. Jordan isn't complaining.
Gee, I wonder who it was that built Solomon's Temple?
No, there NEVER was a "Nation of Palestine". No Palestinian Government, ifnfrastructure, GDP, military or anything else.
The West Bank used to belong to Jordan, and Gaza was Egyptian.
Steven b I will raise the wager. 500
Sorry Chris
There has always been a Jewish presence in Palestine.
what are you talking about.it is the Jews that surround the Palestinian communities with tanks an soldiers an check points.Gaza is a huge prison with old women an children.it is the Jews that are stealing an destroying Palestinian home for settlement expansion which equals more homeless people.you are committing genocide .you are achieving what Hitler couldn't achieve, looks like you learned allot about how to destroy a whole race of people.you use allot of the same tactics Hitler used, only you perfected it like you do with our American weapons, perfect them by fine tuning them.your all a bunch of immigrant's with dual citizen ships leaving the country of your birth an killing an stealing from a man in the country of his birth, saying they would be happy if Jews walked into the ovens all the while pushing Palestinians day in an day out into the ovens.while the world watchess, sound familier.
Can it be viewed as a form of plagiarism?
Exactly Kwame...
the father of the Hebrew people was born and lived in Ur.. in what is now Iraq. that is their 'ancestral' land.
there were people already living when the first Hebrews came to what is now Israel... like the Native North Americans were already here when Christians claimed they found the country. you can't find what is already found. lol.
Not to mention the fact that according to the Torah .. God has exiled the Jews from Israel and they are not to have their own country until the messiah comes and fulfills all of the prophesy. that hasn't happened. Do you see world peace ? that's one of the prophesies.
Crazy, fighting over dirt for God..when in due time they all will become dirt and dust of God... Fools are made, Not Born that way........
He should make Israel and Palestine one state for anyone to be able to live anywhere without any restrictions, where everyone should have a right to vote like Americans have
You are so nieve!
You are an IDIOT.......
AIPAC controls this country.

Folks-
Dont argue with a stupid person i.e. George01...they will never realize that they've lost the arguement.
>Youyr facts are wrong Palestine was a country prior to 1948, I can prove it to you.<
I'm LMAOROF!
George next time before you click the "Post Comment" button please read the Sentence in white letters against the green background.
Ixor Kleb did I lose an argument to you? do I know you? why dont you LMAOROF yourself. If you want to talk make an appointment.
So you just condemned Israel. They are the ones restricting food and water to over a million people.
george01,
Yes you did.
and:
>why don't you LMAOROF yourself?<
I am; still, as of 12-16-2009
Chris Gilliard,
As it turns out that when the "Israel restricts water" story was circulating turns out that in truth Israel had doubled the water supply to that area.
Maybe Hamas should stop shooting at the supply trucks or Hijacking them once inside Gaza. BTW: Theres a border with Gaza that Egypt controls.
hamas fanatics yea right.who's tanks an armed forces surround who,you are enslaving a whole race pf people while you commit a slow an painful genocide against an enslaved an defenseless people.you are all a bunch of immigrents.i will bet my balls that all the jews in here are all born outside of israel.they all come from russia poland ,all the for a free condo in palestine to build on the blood an displacement of the local people.they dont go to egypt or jrden because they are palestinians yoy land staelling slave driver.
Sounds like Globalist stupidity to me. Drivel.
Israel could destroy Hamas in a few days. Blow up the whole of Gaza.
Israel, however is a decent society with no such intentions.
Unlike Hamas.
Which comic book have you been reading? If Israel thought that it could get away with killing all of the Palestinians they would have done it years ago. However that would cut off the flow of monies and weapons from the west also you can't claim to be a victim if there's no one around to victimize you.
The only people that can get away with REAL ethnic cleansing (always Jews and Christians) AND claim to be the "victims" are from Islamic countries.
By getting rid of the Israeli leadership? That's where the problems lie.
The USA pledes $900 million for Gaza? Why not add a simple condition...NO MORE ROCKET ATTACKS!!! Give the money in increments , only so long as the attacks are not happening. Force Hamas to choose and the people to choose as well.
We give more money to Isreal. Why don't we stop giving to both?
It works both ways. How about opening borders and stop harrassing the people in Gaza. Isreal always kills lots more people than the rockets. They rarely hit anything.
How about we give them nothing and take care of our own.
marilynboyd regarding your comment in 6.2,
That makes the Palestinian attacks ok? Israel has every right to protect herself and respond to attacks by any means it desires.
I wonder why these anti-Israel types aren't openly clapping in glee over a Hamas/Gaza "charity" offering $1.4 million for the kidnapping of Israelis?
Seems they have lots of $$$ to spend attacking Israel, but they cannot feed themselves...
Your post is not without merit.
Trueism you are spot on.
Benji you amaze me with the effort you can spend concocting a "scenario".
You managed to have Chris Gilliard calling you on it(!).
trueism ..
mmmm no they don't . that's an ignorant con rhetoric fox news bush line .
what they hate is westerners telling them how they should live . Pre 1948 in what is now Israel both Jews and muslims lived in relative peace.
The only people that can get away with REAL ethnic cleansing (always Jews and Christians) AND claim to be the "victims" are from Islamic countries.
ya Chris, you sure know how to pick your Pals...
Here's hoping the Israeli's will finish this once and forever, eliminating the rabid dog nipping at their heels and the heels of all peace seeking nations
The final solution
Israeli style!!!!
No such thing as a "Nation of Palestine".
Try looking at facts. Google "Cyrus the Great". Educate yourself, painful as that may be.
That is a lie.. Considering you don't even know the origin of the word "Palestine", it's stupid lie.
Palestine was always Palestine I even have a map. Your an idiot and Israel should have never existed.
george01,
Nice COH violation name calling.
Sounds good! Send the money to Magen David Adom.
George, I have repeatedly asked you for the history of the "Nation of Palestine". Things like their form of government, Prime Ministers, the GDP of "Palestine" and other things that legitimate nations have.
Your silence is deafening.
Folks-

art-1088395 regarding your comment 13.8,
Do you mean as in the case of george01's comment 13.2, above?
That is exactly my poin Israel was created by mistake. It never should have been allowed.
More propaganda.
Isreal does what it wants regardless of what other nations think and they always get away with it. So why expect anything different now?
E B
It appeared to me Suspiciously "speeled" it that way to emphasize the error by marilynboyd. What does it say about second stones?
Protect your own ass then Netanyahoo, you @!$%#in @!$%# .
Wow, what a well-thought-out statement! ;-)
Can't negotiate with people sworn to your destruction.
The Palestinians live with that consequence everyday.
Chris,
You naughty spin doctor.

Hamas Principles
The principles of the Hamas are stated in their Covenant or Charter, given in full below. Following are highlights.
He maintained that Rome would become, ""an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe." Ref- Fox 14 Apr. 2008
Other statements are more moderate in tone, but Hamas has repeatedly refused international community demands to recognize the right of Israel to exist, abrogate its charter and abide by the previous commitments of the Palestinian Authority
One of the most ominous aspects of the Charter however, is this Hadith:

I suspect after you read this will attempt to Murder the messenger with one of your single sentence swipes.
While the BBC gleefully pushed the story to the top of its agenda, The Independent produced a two-page center spread with a screaming headline "Israeli soldiers reveal the brutal truth of Gaza attack". Others also covered the story, including CNN, The Guardian, Associated Press, Reuters, AFP, Financial Times, Times of London, Daily Telegraph, NPR, Toronto Star and the Globe & Mail.
The IDF has issued an intial response to Breaking the Silence that can be viewed here.
As for Breaking the Silence's motivations, The Jerusalem Post's Amir Mizroch offers an insider's insight on his personal blog on how the group attempted to give Ha'aretz exclusive rights to the story. The paper, in light of its previous embarrassment, did not take the bait and sent the report to the IDF for response. Meanwhile, Breaking the Silence attempted to get the JPost's military correspondent off the story, fearing that the paper would take a critical look at their report. According to Mizroch:
Breaking the Silence has succeeded in gaining the international publicity that it sought. Many media outlets have also demonstrated their propensity to uncritically publish unverifiable accounts from non-governmental organizations that feed their own unquestioning narrative of Israel and the IDF.
Don't ask the IDF if they are commiting atrocities in Gaza ask the people who are being victimized!!!!
Seems that you don't want peace either. Just more killings of innocent Palestinians.
That's been tried, but it was found that it was the Israelis who were lying and doing all of the killings.
Folks-
Dont argue with a stupid person i.e. George01...they will never realize that they've lost the arguement.
>Youyr facts are wrong Palestine was a country prior to 1948, I can prove it to you.<
I'm LMAOROF!
George next time before you click the "Post Comment" button please read the Sentence in white letters against the green background.
Ixor, I would like to see your proof, some of the links I have been in are slanted, and their content questionable.
thank you
Really? Then what were they all doing in Europe?
psychokiller,
The information is readily available.
Ixor
Palestine was known as Palestine during the time of the Persian Empire 500 BC ... see Herodotus writings describing it as the 5th province in book III ( 90-91) page 119

stop being so mis-informed about history.
